Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you.   Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. OhNoitsJamie Talk 19:34, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I'm not sure I understand how this was disruptive. I work for Chris Distefano and I'm updating his page based on factual information. Please clarify. Shallowwwaters (talk) 16:14, 15 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Adding photos with insufficient licensing info

edit

One of your recent edits has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. You have been blocked from editing Chris DiStefano for a period of 12 hours for adding copyrighted photos and not responding to warnings. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

First of all, please see the COI information below; you'll need to make the appropriate declarations. Secondly, you've been warned numerous times that (1) Wikipedia does not accept copyrighted photos. The photo you are trying to add was taken from a college website; there's no evidence that it is permission from the copyright holder of that photo for it to be used here. (2) Distefano is notable for his comedy career, not his collegiate basketball career. Devoting a detailed section to his college basketball career violates our WP:WEIGHT guideline. OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:30, 15 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the clarification. I did not fully understand what the warnings pertained to as I don't have a sufficient grasp of how photo licenses work so I apologize for continuing to contribute an unlicensed image and I now understand why the basketball section was deleted. I put in a request to change the "S" in his last name to a lowercase "s", which is the correct case. Do you happen to know if that can still be corrected? Thank you. Shallowwwaters (talk) 17:22, 15 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Per WP:COMMONNAME, we tend to defer to usage in reliable sources. Per the current discussions it sounds like it's borderline, but I don't think it would be too controversial to change it. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:19, 15 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Okay. It's listed with a lowercase "s" on all of his social media accounts and website, but I can provide an official document if necessary. Shallowwwaters (talk) 18:26, 15 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Ohnoitsjamie, how can I request the change in case? Thank you. Shallowwwaters (talk) 14:43, 23 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
You already did here. There are no objections so far so it will likely be accepted. Please be patient. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:09, 23 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oh, sorry. Wasn't sure if I did everything necessary. Thank you. Shallowwwaters (talk) 15:13, 23 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
