I thought it was borderline when I first looked, but ultimately decided it fell under section 3, bullet 5 of WP:U#Inappropriate_usernames. Dppowell 04:19, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was more the '69' part than the 'Sexybeast' part. I'm glad you were able to find a less questionable username for your new account. Happy editing! Dppowell 04:41, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Boy, did this freak me out at first, lol. I was carrying on all these conversations with someone I'd never heard of! I was starting to wonder if I was going insane (more insane?)   I like the new name, but I'm going to miss my i, it was so fun to refer to i in a sentence about me and i. I'm sure i would agree! ~*Giggle*~ ArielGold 18:47, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I like your new name for the record, but I speak French, so...your old name was really cool, but really confusing. Anyhow... (boy, I'm coherent today...) Love, Neranei (talk) 18:50, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
By the way, you may want to re-create the I account. When an account is renamed, the old account is "freed up" and can be registered by anyone else. Yes, the old userpage/talk page is still there, redirecting here, but the name itself is now available, so unless you don't mind if someone else has it, it might be a good idea to register the name, and place the {{doppleganger}} template on it. ArielGold 18:50, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
How did you notice? My signatures haven't changed, and I've tried to refrain from editing under this new name until I'm sure of it. But yeah, I'm going to create that shortly. Thanks. Soleil (formerly I) 19:06, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kuririn

edit

Hi, it's a keep decision since the arguments for keeping are stronger than the arguments for deletion. The first problem was that even the nominator didn't want the information deleted, he wanted it merged. The rest of the commenters who thought it should be deleted used a "lack of primary or secondary sources" as their rationale, while the whole problem with the article is that it's based entirely on primary sources. However, that's not a reason to delete something, it's a reason to clean it up. No one in the discussion claimed the article was unsourceable, which would be an actual reason for deletion. In any case, even if the whole content was hopelessly unsourced, you'd still be better off redirecting it to a larger article of characters with the history intact, since it'd be probably be possible to source some of it at a later date. You don't need an afd to do that. - Bobet 12:40, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

You commented on the 'keep' commenters, I did on the delete ones, and neither of us seems to have been convinced by the arguments. In those cases, I tend to lean to keep, since it's less permanent (it's easier to afd than drv something). I've no problem with you taking the closure to drv, and if you're so inclined, you might want to toss Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bulma (2nd nomination) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Muten Roshi in too, since those were about related subjects (as far as I know) and closed at pretty much the same time. Thanks. - Bobet 13:11, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Drawn Together

edit

Alright here's my issue, and why I did the copy-paste merge. First, something was going to be done anyway. TTN would have just slapped redirects on every single episode article without even trying to improve the List of Episodes. Nor would s/he move any information from the individual articles to the list. This is what s/he's done before. I know that the policies support a merge, and that TTN has policy-righteousness on her/his side. However, I disagree with the deletionist method of just purging anything which doesn't belong, without sticking around to make the whole thing better. The reason I moved the episode summaries (not the cultural references and cameos and whatnot) to the episode list is because if TTN had got there first s/he would've demolished the whole thing. Then someone would've reverted it. Then TTN would have reverted that. Then it would've got really ugly and the whole situation would have descended to even greater depths of puerility than it currently is. Incidentally, I undid my merges on article pages until the list is made better, if you're at all interested in contributing. Do you watch the show? That edit may not have been helpful. However, when someone flat out accuses me of edit warring, and issues me a warning, then does not also issue said warning to the other party, I consider that bullshit. Then when they decide to try to team up to get me blocked, I also consider that bullshit. I like how my edits were reverted TWICE after the talk page discussion was there....looks like I'm the ONLY one doing the right thing. I certainly thank you for actually being civil in tone with your comment on my page, I do hope that you're also issuing the same warning to the other parties involved. SineBot is confused lol

edit

Because your sig only links to I, SineBot is flipping out signing all of your comments, lmao. Are you going to rename yourself back to I? ArielGold 01:45, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I know! It's rather annoying. *Remembers to check if he missed any more of those edits by sinebot* I'm probably going to be renamed to sbfw. I like the signature for that name, kind of. I'm returning to my old signature so there are few links to Soleil, as I am probably going to be changed, and don't want there to be a big presence with that name. I just opted out of autosigning until this is resolved. I'm still not sure what I'm going to be renamed to, though. I (talk) 01:48, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, as long as your signature doesn't come either to this page, or Soleil userpage, SineBot will continue to do it. I'd suggest until the rename you edit the sig to have the talk go to this page directly, as I doesn't redirect. You can't opt out of autosigning, you can only opt out of having SineBot autosign on this page, unfortunately. Any and all other pages that SB signs, he'll still getcha, lol. What's Sbfw stand for? ArielGold 01:56, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually, users can opt out, see the revision before you. It doesn't, I just like how the combination looks. What do you think? I (talk) 01:58, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Right, hon, but that only means SineBot won't sign this page. He'll still sign your comments on RfAs, help desk, ANI, UAA, and all the other pages that are auto-signed. And if you simply change your sig to make the "Talk" come here, it wouldn't change the appearance of it: '''[[User:I|I]] [[User talk:Soleil|(talk)]]''' ArielGold 02:01, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I might do that, but {{NoAutosign}} says it opts out of autosigning everywhere that I edit. I (talk) 02:04, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hrmm, not sure. It doesn't actually explain it very well, lol, come test it on my talk page :) ArielGold 02:05, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Usually takes SB a few minutes to sign comments on user talk pages, let me go brush my teeth and get ready for bed, and I'll come back and check. You're probably right tho, someone once told me it only opted out your talk page, so I'm probably under the wrong impression. Either way, you didn't tell me what Sbfw stands for! lol ArielGold 02:11, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

←It doesn't. I just like the combination for some reason. What do you think? And you can opt out on a specific page, so that might be what you're thinking of. I (talk) 02:13, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're right, I'm wrong. I bow down humbly to your awesomeness! And personally? I don't like Sbfw, lol. I dunno why, maybe because it makes no sense to me, but if you do choose it, please capitalize the first letter! lmao. Feel free to ignore my opinion, I never claimed to always make sense, especially when I'm tired. ~*Giggle*~ ArielGold 02:23, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Bleh. I just can't make a decision about this stupid name thing. Do you do any work on Commons? I (talk) 02:26, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I do all my image uploading to commons. ArielGold 02:29, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I will, once I choose a name >.< Do you know why a lot of FP have redlinked nominations? Specifically, this one. The nomination is here. I can't for the life of me get it to link. I (talk) 02:34, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure I understand, where is it redlinked? The "here" link is fine to me. ArielGold 02:36, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
The link to the FP nomination at the image on commons. I (talk) 02:37, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Because the link goes to a different page? It is Featured pictures, not Featured picture.

  • Commons:Featured pictures candidates/Image:Siberian Tiger by Malene Th.jpg - Correct link
  • Commons:Featured picture candidates/Image:Siberian Tiger by Malene Th.jpg - Incorrect link

Does that help? ArielGold 02:44, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Apparently the subpage parameter doesn't work. That should be fixed, but I dunno how. And I can't create a redirect page as an anon. O well. Thanks. *Goes back to thinking about username* I (talk) 02:48, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
It looks like whoever creates the featured nomination page, needs to remember the template requires the singular use, as that's what most nominations are named. Changing the template would break the links for all the nominations that used "picture" instead of "pictures", see commons:Image:White-crowned-Sparrow.jpg as a comparison. ArielGold forgot to sign!!

Yeah, and I have gotten a lot of grief over this, I actually thought most people would be mad that I nominated that many articles at once, but most people actually believed they needed to be in the encyclopedia. I guess the least this will do is at least bring these articles to some peoples attention and hopefully will be expanded and cited. Thanks for your comments though, have a good day/night.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 19:10, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Then you have a much more optimistic outlook than I do =D But there really was no good way to list these. If you had listed 250 seperate AfDs, you would have probably been violating WP:POINT, and listing them all together will never work. So it's a no-win situation. I (talk) 19:22, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hahahaha oh god, if I listed 250 separate AFDs I think WP:POINT would be the least of my worries. ;-) But yeah I was just not happy with how unencyclopedic these articles were, and the only thing I could do was AFD them. At least a good debate was put forth, and yeah I am an optimist, so dont burst my bubble :P haha, have a good day,

I know it seems extremely strange of me, but please take a look at the history of the first AFD. THe "second" nomination was made on the first nomination page as an overwrite of the first. It is causing a lot of mess, and I'm not too sure of protocol in this circumstance. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 04:46, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I understand now. Thank you for fixing that, as well as relisting. I (talk) 04:47, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for understanding. I just hope that I am not somehow violating some protocol in place for this kind of stuff up... you, my fellow Wikipedian and hopefully one day admin, seem to know policy to the enth degree. Am I missing something here? Is there something else I should be doing, do you think? Or are you as much inn the dark as I am? -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 04:49, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am not aware of protocol in this instance. Maybe as an experienced admin for his advice? The only thing I would suggest is making note of the mishap on the two AfDs, just for clarity. I have also mentioned to the user who created the second AfD of this error, and suggested he get TW, as he has a history of malformed AfDs. I (talk) 04:54, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fräulein

edit

Hi, Soleil! I've been editing Fräulein for a while. There's been a lot of discussion about this page. A good place to start is Talk:Fräulein#Request for Comment: Comtemporary Usage of Fräulein in German-speaking Countries. To summarize, there is one individual that has pushed a point of view with nothing to back it up but anecdote, and a chorus of other, independent users who have found reliable sources that indicate that "Fräulein" simply is not used now in the way that it was historically. The individual that I'm talking about, currently User:ReadyFreddie, has a history of deleting or changing perfectly valid sources that he/she disagrees with.

I thought that two of your edits to the article were constructive, and I maintained them when I reverted ReadyFreddie. The template change and deleting the fair use image made sense to me. I think that the Fräulein vom Amt image is public domain, at the worst harmless and at the best illustrates a time when "Fräulein" was a common term in German. I noticed you left that image in your last reversion.

If you have the time, I'd appreciate it if you'd look at my revision: [2], and consider reverting the article back to that version. It has sources, a lot of people besides myself have worked on it, and I think it's a good version. I'm happy to discuss this further. Darkspots (talk) 23:13, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

The keeps outweighed the deletes. (There wasn't a consensus to delete.) A couple swing factors were that the character is apparently more "notable" in the musical, and that the article was being worked on, with the addition of more references. - jc37 09:02, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
