Pre-Medieval Saints / Church History

edit

Hi. My knowledge of the above subjects is minimal. I've just noticed that User 178.222.16.146 is making a lot of unsourced changes to a lot of articles. I don't want to revert them because I don't know if they are correct or not. If you have time could you take a look? Thanks Denisarona (talk) 14:34, 1 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello Ser Amantio, do you have an example of one of the articles to which you were referring? I'd be happy to take a look. Best, --Polylerus (talk) 16:59, 1 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Changes to saints articles

edit

Thanks, Ser Amantio. It looks legit to me. Usually, if the saint appears in the Western (Catholic) saints calendar, the Eastern Orthodox church will also venerate the same saints, especially early and medieval ones. --Polylerus (talk) 04:17, 3 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

i note you redirected Dale DeArmond to Dale de Armond, should be other way around (married name). Juneau Empire paper rather than Alaska Northwest Pub. Co. i followed the misspelled red link again. sorry about that.Slowking4 (talk) 15:06, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

AWB

edit

When you are going to stand up for yourself and get it restored? I seriously miss your help on here and I find I get much less done myself because of not having the back up!! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:04, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oh it became quite obvious to me you are not missing it and quite like not having much to do with it anymore. In fact I think you did it on purpose so you'd lose your AWB privelages and keep a lower profile than you used to. Fair enough, but I wish you could have at least been honest with me about it. If you no longer wish to do anything or don't want to do something I appreciate honesty above all... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:09, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I must admit it did occur to me that it was your way of just saying you wanted to reduce your time and energy on here as you have more RL commitments. If it genuinely wasn't then it certainly came at a very convenient moment! But for me that fact you haven't missed AWB one bit shows it had become a bit of a nuisance responding to my sometimes extravagant demands! Honestly Ser Amantio you should learn to be able to say no to people! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:32, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well I thought at one stage you enjoyed using it and helping out, otherwise I wouldn't have asked you! But I think it got to the stage where it was taking up way too much of your time and it was part of your New Years Resolution to cut it out, which I may say so you've kept up quite admirably this year as from what I've seen outside working hours you are barely here anymore.. Oh I had noticed too that you never used to contact me, it was always me speaking to you and you responding. You would never contact me on your own accord. In the end I got the message mate. If I hadn't have spoken to you today I'd not have heard from you for the rest of the year. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:43, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Anyway, I greatly appreciated your assistance and companionship on here, I hope you know that at least..♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:49, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

You were one of the few people who actually motivated me to create on here! I quite liked you finding things for me to start. Although I have no problems finding masses to start myself it did sort of encourage me.. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:00, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well I'm sure most people much prefer the way I edit now than I used to but at times I do miss the sub stub runs in terms of long term goals on here. We need editors routing out content and starting them and the sheer amount missing often means sub stubs seem to easiest way to get them onto here.. Anyway don't feel guilty about asking me, if you want something started some time ask, although too many articles on politicians admittedly tend to bore me.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:14, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

There are also some 500 listed buildings in Ludlow I spotted, we have one article at present...♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:41, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yey, you have AWB again! Awesome. I promise not to pester you though, only occaisnally! Basically I need you to add Category:Country houses in England to the articles in House in Cheshire I-Z and then Houses in Cumbria onwards of Category:Houses in England with the exception of London and Greater Manchester as I think they have to be assessed individually.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:44, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Whenever you have time, no worries. Right. me iz conjuring up some stubs...♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:58, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yikes there's another 24 parishes of the Isle of Wight all with a similar number of manors in them.. We could end up with over 300 articles on the Isle of Wight manors. I am going to ensure they are all stubbed seems as the info is public domain, might take a while.. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:44, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the offer! Well I'm sticking with the public domain material for the moment. The Isle of Wight manors can be found under each parish here. I've done Newchurch but I'll start at Arreton I think now. I think probably one of the best things we can do for wikipedia is to add all the public domain material we can to it. That British history website has a goldmine of info and is important as it identifies many notable figures from as far back as Alfred the Great. Its exactly the sort of content we need I think, 13th century manor owners and such.. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:20, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Actually I'm pretty bad on anything pre Battle of Bosworth! Good on 1066 but know little about Henry II and Richard II and the medeival period and indeed very little about all of the Ethels. most of the info on the IofW manors seems to be 12 and 13th century and 16th-17th century.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:26, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Looks like you had the same history curriculum as I did! For some reason they left out 1066-1485! I was taught about the Romans, particularly Julius Caesar era, Battle of Hastings and Harold getting shot in the eye, then Battle of Bosworth and the Tudors through to George. Wasn't taught much about the Hanovers but from then it was the World Wars, Korean War and Vietnam. my A-level course was mostly focused on 19th century Europe like the 1848 revolutions and Italian Unification and 19th century British history from the Corn Laws of 1815, to Parliamentary Reform in 1832, Merthyr Rising 1831 etc and then the cause of Chartism and the Luddites and Richard Cobden and Corn Law repeal and that. I'd love to study medeival history from 1066-1485. Judith Keppel's £1 million question was Which King was married to Eleanor of Aquitaine? Obviously this period is poorly known by most so it was considered a very hard question! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:04, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

See Azor (landowner). Its puzzled me on numerous occasions why there is no Category:English landowners. A landowner is a major figure in British history it should be jammed full with articles. Unless i missing the cat under a different name? Either way I think we should create this category and aim to fill it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:53, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

G'day again from Oz, where it's snowing outside at the moment :-) For a variety of reasons I have been pretty inacive on WP the last couple of weeks, hence my not replying earlier. Good call on User:BriitshNO1; after seeing his edits, I was quite certain that it was Ryan, but by that stage it was all done and dusted. I tagged his creations for speedy deletion, two were deleted almost immediately but unfortunately a different admin looked at List of tsunamis in Europe and declined to delete it per IAR, citing its usefulness (which is beside the point IMO). The only editor of that article so far is Ryan himself via IPs, and I am thinking about taking it to AfD - have you any experience of AfD discussions for articles created by sockpuppets? I am glad to see that the more recent incarnations that you found have been dealt with properly. YSSYguy (talk) 06:27, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

South Sudan

edit

Ah new country. Can you use AWB to rec Category:Populated places in Southern Sudan to Category:Populated places in South Sudan?♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:52, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I see you didn't have time for the country house categorizing. No worries but if you could get round to it this week I'd be grateful.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:27, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

No worries, if you want to get Antarctica sorted first go for it. Although I'd say the more constructive thing for Antarctica geography stubs would have been to merge as many of the articles as possible and turn the loose stubs into longer merged articles.. Still, I'm sure many of them are worth having separate articles on, just see the two GAs on Antarctica lakes I have for that!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:06, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well potentially a lot of them could be expanded in their own right but for some features like a rock covering an area of 0.1 km for instance could quite easily be merged into an article about the bay it is in...♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:21, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

As long as people are working on them.. Remember not so long ago I couldn't find 60 articles on Yemeni buildings?♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:30, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mmm, well we have 26 stubs only at the moment. I need to create 34 more.... We'll see.... I remember I was hard pushed finding 10 before..♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:05, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Indeed it will. Almost 30 now but I'm bored of Yemen now. I should aim for 60 over the next week though. In fact every country on the planet should have over 60 articles on buildings right and separate stub categories?♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:55, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Also i want to create dab pages for the embassies of every country with a full list of embassies. E.g Afghan Embassy (Cairo), French Embassy (Lisbon), Japanese Embassy (Kigali) etc.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:58, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ah, they exist like List of diplomatic missions of Afghanistan, but need to be red linked.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:00, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well Micro states like Gibraltar, Monaco, San Marino Vatican City might be impossible but most countries it is possible I think...♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:02, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macao perhaps, mmm Monaco yes it is heavily urbanised but 60 notable buildings? It would certainly be a challenge... It is tiny though. San Marino might be possible but Monaco I seriously doubt..16:16, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

I've created Template:World populated places. All we need now is a full list by country...♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:22, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've been wanting a full gazeteer on here since 2006 of course. If we can't have stub on every place yet we should at least have the names and coordinates I think..♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:28, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Poss. AWB stub task...

edit

Hi SA - if you've got some time to use that AWB of yours, I've noticed that part of the reason Ross Dependency geography stubs is so big is that there are a lot of Victoria Land articles in there which should be marked with {{VictoriaLand-geo-stub}}. Unfortunately they're not marked with Category:Victoria Land, but a lot of them are linked to Victoria Land and so should be in that article's "whatlinkshere". Any chance of adding Category:Victoria Land to them and changing the stub template over from the RD one to the VL one? Cheers, Grutness...wha? 06:13, 10 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, looks like you're on AWB again! Could you help me detag pointless translation requests? Someone who was making a ton of stubs on villages in Argentina tagged every single one to be expanded from Spanish, though the Spanish articles tend to be about two sentences long. These stubs just junk up the translation category by drowning out everything else. An example is El Manso. Could you detag these? I think you could go by the province categories (I think they exist for all provinces), looking for all articles with the text "is a village and municipality in" and then just remove the expand spanish banner. Would you be up for this? Thanks in advance regardless, Calliopejen1 (talk) 12:54, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for tagging some of them. If you view List of country houses in the United Kingdom you can see the extent of what need doing. I did up to Cumbria manually.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:07, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I removed the obvious townhouses when i created the list. The vast majority of them should be ok but there may be a small handful which I didn't spot. So definitely worth doing now.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:16, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Where from, pt wiki? Mmm in a few days maybe. Right now I have Kanak people at GAR and want to try to fill out the lisst in Scotland, N Ireland and Wales.

I've created an A-Z list from the Pt category in List of Portuguese composers. Hope this helps. Sucks that it is first name order not surname but haven't time to order alph surbame right now! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:25, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

That reminds me I must get back to creating more lists of people by Spanish language country. e.g List of Paraguayan writers. Resume with the Uruguayan lists first, I guess at least a mention of the missing articles on wikipedia is something.. Oh yeah Cheshire needs categorzing from I-Z. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:31, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you could also cat the list for N Ireland, Scotland and Wales respectively e.g Country houses in Scotland, Country houses in Wales this would be great.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:20, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Did you do Cheshire I-Z? Peter got as far as H I think.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:53, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

There we go we now have a New Caledonia GA! Now I can concentrate on some sub stubs eh?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:54, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Excellent, I really appreciate your help! Right, watch out for the new pages shortly.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:02, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Willie Bester

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Willie Bester requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 05:46, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Unnecessary

edit

I don't know that this was necessary. The article is clearly a hoax, and not about a real person. It shouldn't really matter, though, because it will be deleted in short order anyway, but it's best to keep the proper DB tag on pages, as different tags get different levels of attention. I thought the same thing, Dan. However, if you look at these contributions, MW has been reverting the author of the article recently. It's now obvious that the subject of the article is in fact our MW. MJ94 (talk) 16:29, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I tend to operate from a default position that any sort of attack on a named individual should be treated as an attack page. If it's not, it can be re-dealt with in short order. Still, different strokes, and all.
Also, the first response that came to mind was a line from The Vicar of Dibley: "No, no. See your thinking, but: no." (Sorry - think of me as Dawn French, if that helps at all. :-) ) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:37, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Been having real bad sinus trouble again lately. The hay fever season is now over but it clogged up my head. I disocvered though if you put your head in a hot water basin and breathe in through your nose underwater it seems to do something. Reminds me of my old swimming days when chlorine water would go up your nose the wrong way. I'll keep doing that for a few days, see if it gets better. Always worse first thing in the morning. I woke up this morning with a gigantic headache!♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:30, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Brilliant idea

edit

I just had a splendid idea, which is to ask you if you would kindly take a look at the recent discussions about the various "Musicals by" categories at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Musical Theatre and see if you have an opinion about how to proceed. One editor wishes to (and had begun to) populate these (four?) categories, but they are very overlapping and, perhaps, of dubious utility. Various proposals have been made, and it would be nice if someone experienced with cats could help us to reach a consensus of some kind. I'd value your opinion. See: no good deed goes unpunished!  :-) -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:05, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Can you add the populated places category to all of the tambon articles started so far by province in Category:Tambon. E.g Tambons of Chiang Mai, the article should also have Populated places in Chiang Mai Province as the tambons are also villages/small towns.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:21, 21 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

OK I've covered Lamphun Province and ones I start from now on will include the category. so its just the three provinces. I will return for more later, if you do have time to link the tambons of Lamphun by district in the meantime this would be great, if you are busy no probs. God, Polish wikipedia gives me a headache. I mean Zakład Naukowo-Wychowawczy Ojców Jezuitów w Chyrowie look how many notables are missing. Awb

edit

Ah yes there was something, Category:Populated places in Ghana needs emptying. If you can find a way to split it using AWb say by the "what link here" to the regions maybe you can root em out. If not and it has to be manual, no worries.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:22, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ooh, how kind of you Ser Amantio, thankyou. I may find some more for other states, I'll check!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:24, 4 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

That reminds me the counties of South Sudan and Sudan also need fully starting.. Should be over 100 new politician stubs for South Sudan, have proposed a new template..♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:38, 4 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Too much of a task to start them all by state now but you might be interested in creating some stubs some time from here by state. I'll finish Central Equatoria. You might link it on your user page. Should you create any, just copy by source and layout, all you have to do then is change the name, position. County COmmissioners of South Sudan also have a new category. Thanks for creating the women categories.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:02, 4 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Category:Tambon and Category:Populated places in Thailand need emptying and reorganizing by province,. Any chance you could use AWB going through the what link here to the province names or something. Remember that most tambon also need the populated places in xxx province category. If it helps a very large number are located in Category:Phitsanulok ProvinceDr. Blofeld 16:02, 13 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'll likely resume with the tambons in the next few days then..♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:06, 13 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Grreat. Don't forget though that the tambons also need the duel Category:Populated places in Phitsanulok Province etc.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:13, 13 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hokay, we'll wait then until I add the tambons and they naturally populate and it can be split gradually.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:17, 13 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

More Antarctica AWBing if you're keen

Hi SA - I've started work on the Graham Land geo-stubs... done one of the three sections (Danco Coast) and made the templates and categories for the other two, but they need populating. Any help you could give would be appreciated! Note that there's a slight naming problem with one of them - I made the permcat and filled it, then discovered that the source for most of the articles was ignoring accents. All is explained at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Stub_sorting/Proposals/2011/July#Antarctica_VII:_Graham_Land. Cheers, Grutness...wha? 12:19, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps you can explain why you recategorized Louis Renault (industrialist) as a "Sportsperson from Paris"??? 842U (talk) 10:06, 14 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, This is a random survey regarding the first sentence on the Wikipedia policy page Verifiability.

Your latest articles on Virginia communities

edit

I was looking at your latest articles about communities in Mathews County, Virginia, and I noticed that most of them have the same coordinates, which seem to be the coordinates for Kremlin, Virginia in a different county. I fixed a few, but I thought you'd want to know so you could fix the rest. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 22:53, 24 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speaking of the Virginia communities, I found an issue with some of the ones you created in Richmond County. It seems that a lot of them have coordinates in the city of Richmond but were miscategorized by the GNIS as being in Richmond County (Ampthill Heights and Broad Rock, for example, but there's a lot more). I asked the GNIS about it a while ago, but they haven't gotten back to me. If they are neighborhoods, they probably don't deserve standalone articles. Any idea what to do about this? TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 06:29, 27 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
This neighborhood map by the City of Richmond includes some of the places; i'm inclined to think that those at least are neighborhoods. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 18:46, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

AWB for Turkey

edit

Hi. Can you do an AWB run through User:Dr. Blofeld/Turkey and do this, Its removing the , xxxxx from the title and infobox (although leaving the tr: link intact to Turkish wiki) and adding a xxxx District category. Can you do this? I'll generate the rest of the list and move into the mainspace at List of populated places in Afyonkarahisar Province. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:41, 3 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

That though and the talking page tagging WikiProject Turkey|class=stub|importance=low might require a lot of edits. Is that OK? I think there are about 26,000 odd in total, but I'll tackle a province at a time gradually. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:48, 3 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

84 provinces! And each one has a fair number of districts often with 100 odd settlements in each! Something like Template:Lists of populated places in Turkey to connect the lists.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:21, 3 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

So can I count on your help with this then? Başmakçı District is done, the rest can be viewed at the mainspace list List of populated places in Afyonkarahisar Province. The ones I create from today will have the District category, its just the other ones I started which need them. But I'll need your help removing the end names on them all. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:32, 5 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I've asked Plastik to code something to create me a list by province. If I could do that first and get a full list of settlements by province staritng them should be straightforward. If I can aim to get a province started every day or two, should get them all started by Christmas. That's my target anyway.. Meanwhile I'll get on with the tambons and try to finish off the rest of the Serbian villages.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:51, 5 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Don't forget the one in the infobox and to add the District category. I believe up to Hocalar they need the district categories,♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:25, 5 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Interview with Wikimedia Foundation

edit

Ser Amantio, I hope you are well. My name is Matthew Roth and I'm a Storyteller working on the 2011 fundraiser with the Wikimedia Foundation in San Francisco. In past years, we've relied on Jimbo to carry the bulk of the fundraising weight and he's done very well helping us hit our yearly funding targets. This year, however, we're broadening the scope and reach of the fundraiser by incorporating more voices and different people on the funding banners and appeals that will start running full-time on November 7th. We're testing new messages and finding some really great results with editors and staff members of the Foundation. You can see the current progress of the tests here. I'm curious if you would want to participate in an interview with me as part of this process? The interviews usually last 60 minutes and involve a number of questions about your personal editing experiences, as well as general questions about Wikipedia and its impact in the world. Please let me know by emailing mroth (at) wikimedia.org. Thanks! Matthew (WMF) 17:20, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Help with my page

Hi, I'm a student at Clemson University and for my english assignment we need to edit a wikipedia page and get feed back from other wikipedians. I've been working on the St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School page and I was wondering if you had any suggestions or comments for me. I thought that I had uploaded the picture there so I clicked on it and learned that I had not. Or so it appeared. I looked in the history and found this [10] edit. Now I know that this has nothing to do with you, but I am such a luddite about this sort of thing and thought that perhaps you could offer some insights. I posted something like this at the Village Pump, but thought I'd toss this out to you to. You seem so productive now, I just felt a need to share my pain and perhaps break your concentration just a bit. Einar ak Carptrash (talk) 04:19, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ignore that message. I got a good answer at Village Pump. I am just having a rough day, my wife is in the hospital and my dog has not returned from going out earlier. So I was at the library HUGE ANNUAL USED BOOK SALE this morning and picked up a deck of "Dream Cards" to take to my wife in the hospital, figuring she might enjoy them. Then I came home from lunch and discover your dream. So I cut the deck 3 times, flipped over the top card and here it is. What does it mean? That's your job to figure out. My modifications to U.S 63 in Missouri

edit

Hello Ser,

Thanks for the welcome to Wikipedia. My name is Jim Przybylski (jprz67) and I just wanted to modify the section of Wikipedia about the Missouri leg of U.S. Highway 63 in the Kirksville, Missouri, area. I guess you'd call it a minor edit.

On October 26th, MoDOT changed the routing of U.S 63 and made it a two-lane bypass along the eastern side of Kirksville. The old Highway 63 (which passed through Kirksville along Baltimore Street) became Business 63. I'm not very savvy with the social media, but I decided to make myself a Wikipedia editor and modify the last section about the Missouri leg of U.S. 63. to reflect these changes. It seems to have worked! If you have any suggestions for modifications to make what I wrote more readable and/or efficient, I'm listening.

Thanks for the links about Wikipedia. I hope my changes concerning U.S 63 are helpful. I also hope you'll get this message and not 500 others. I'd feel more comfortable with e-mail.

Sincerely,

Jim Przybylski Jprz67 (talk) 06:50, 22 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the talk pages, and Happy Thanksgiving! --Rosiestep (talk) 02:07, 25 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Happy thanksgiving Ser Amantio and Rosie! i have a request. Can you create categories for monuments for each period of the dynasties of Egypt and try to find articles to populate them. French wikipedia would be a good starting place. Maybe something like Category:Buildings and structures of the Twelfth dynasty of EgyptDr. Blofeld 16:26, 25 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Nother thing, can you rename Category:Bavarian literature awards Category:Bavarian literary awards and replace award-stub with lit-award stub? Also shall I propose a {{Germany-award -stub}}?♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:11, 25 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, on second thoughts rename in Category:Literary awards of Bavaria as there are others and you can't have a Baden Wurttemburgian literary awards!♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:20, 25 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Didn't get round to it yet? No worries. :if you are hear now can you be on the look out for city names and add things like Category:buildings and structures in Aachen, Dortmund etc?♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:48, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'd forgotten too! Starting another batch now.. Then I'll just go through the Munich categories I think..♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:53, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tis OK, my sub stubs make up for it I guess.♦ Dr. Blofeld

Ser, I need some assistance. Can you create categories for the parishe sof Andorra as I go along and also add a sub section to parish articles like Notable landmarks and list the articles under them as I create them?♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:54, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well if you can manage the categories it would probably be more efficent to add them all at once afterwards this evening straight from the categories. I couls probably do it but I've got a big task ahead as it is, but nothing in scale by my standards of course!..♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:58, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. And we have photos for every one of them. The Wiki loves Monuments thing was a huge success. If you give people an incentive and launch competitions we got 200,000 more images than we have had otherwise and images of monuments which may have taken years to get hold of. We should be doing the same thing with articles. They always work.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:14, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

The listing may have to wait a week or two, i'm tiring of it right now, I'll do all of the casas today though.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:41, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Biography templates

edit

Hi. I'm noticing that you're putting in a lot of WikiProject Biography templates on various deceased English (and maybe other) political figures; thanks! For the ones that are indeed deceased, is there any way that you could set the "living" parameter to "no"? Otherwise, the backlog of biographical articles without this set is growing very rapidly (Category:Biography articles without living parameter); this could cause problems if some living person's article got lost in the shuffle, it wasn't kept an eye on properly because the living parameter wasn't set, and they sued Wikipedia. It would also be nice if the article class was set to Stub when there's a stub template on the article (or to List for the various List articles - are those supposed to have a WikiProject Biography template on them in the first place?). The "listas" parameter is probably going to require manual intervention, unfortunately. Thanks! Allens (talk) 02:40, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Urg we have both Category:People from Burgdorf, Canton of Bern and Category:People from Burgdorf, Switzerland. Can you merge and also categorize those listed on the town page? Cheers.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:02, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Excellent, sorry if I've been plodding of late BTW.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:15, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Its difficult to really get in the "encyclopedic" mood of late. It requires a lot of concentration. My outlook on wikipedia can range very dramatically at times. Tomorrow, hopefully, I'll create over a hundred.. The problem I have chiefly is the content missing vs readability thing. At times the sheer amount of work needed to make it the quality encyclopedia we all want is overwhelming and there are just to many topics which could potentially be developed!.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:25, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I've been very inactive of late. I've been on a strict calorie controlled diet with things like spinach and tuna etc and been exercising to the max and I haven't had the energy to concentrate on anything substantial as I usually would. I've had my first high calorie meal in over a week this evening pasta and bacon and I feel much better now!! I'm still in my usual good shape but I'm trying to get down to very low body fat but its pretty gruelling and I like my food! Obviously its not all I'm been doing though! Sometimes its good I think to take a decent break from active editing, you find you appreciate it more when you come back then..♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:51, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah its a sacrifice alright. Its achievable if I remain consistent and keep it up for 4-6 weeks. I really needed that pasta today though!! My focus is that once it has burnt off and your metabolism is at an all time high, as long as you continue to exercise regularly you should be able to go back to relatively normal eating and maintain it. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:38, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

This has been my daily consumption for about 10 days now, except for Sunday and Wednesday when I have a roast dinner, but its still all veg,

  • Breakfast - Banana and apple, cup of green tea
  • Lunch - Large bowl of cereal with milk, nuts, bananas
  • Mid Afternoon - Chopped celery and apple and coffee
  • Dinner - Large spinach salad, half a tin of tuna, celery, apple and small baked potato. Half a grapefruit for dessert..
  • Supper - Green tea and one row of chocolate.

I also take green tea extract 7000mg and drink tons of water, you feel less hungry when you drink more water! i eat as much of the greens as I like, all that fibre in your stomach makes you feel less hungry and low calories at the same time!! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:46, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Reckon you could get by on that with 1-2 hours of cardio?♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:55, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah the single row of chocolate is the only treat I allow. That and cheese on the baked potato! The amount of calories in total is less than half the daily recommended intake. But I don't feel starved on it, you need to eat enough, but your brain does feel a little heavy and grumpy because its not getting 800 calorie meals at dinner! About to start a load of Turkish geo stubs anyway..♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:05, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Just bought a 22 inch wide screen monitor. Currently got a 17 inch square one. The pedia should look a lot different on it don't you think?♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:13, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Two eh? Well I've got an Acer PC and am still using the Dell monitor form the old PC. The monitor is still pretty good but I think the new monitor is going to be a visual improvement and will be good for watching DVDs on.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:19, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Do you have any problems with Cologne Blue setting these days? I tried it a few weeks back but the new category gaps in lines have messed up the top alignment and on pages with many categories and interwiki links it looks ridiculous. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:26, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Haha on a new monitor things looking very wide... Thanks for your tagging and cleanup but can you use AWB to fix the dab link on the Gölbaşı pages. I hadn't realised it was a dab and just got spammed by the dab bot!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:01, 22 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I'm using cologne blue now on the widescreen and it looks great. Only thing is my sub stubs look frightfully short and even fair sized articles look smaller!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:50, 22 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Visual changes make a big difference with me, its almost like a new encyclopedia now! The screen is 10.5 inches high, same as my old one but 18 inches wide instead of 11... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:57, 22 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah it screamed "lesbian wanabee" didn't it LOL. The funny thing is that millions of kids across America and UK suddenly grew their fringes to impress the girls and try to look like him!♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:46, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I used to wonder why on earth Brooklyn Beckham had a bowl haircut for a few years. Then one day Bieber got a haircut and so did he. Can't blame the kid with the amount of teenage girls who like Bieber. I and lots of schoolfriends once had curtains for a few years in the mid 90s too rather embarrassingly because of Mysterious Girl and Peter Andre and of course Daid Beckham too. Every good looking teenage girl used to go on about Peter Andre and David Beckham's "gorgeous" hair. Porbably the same with US girls and guys like that Nick Carter from the Backstreet boys. LOL my hair used to look exactly like his in the 90s! Can't blame me though... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:06, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

French basketball players

edit

first i want to thank you for helping to improve my articles,i was wondering if you can do me a favor i created loads of french basketball player articles ,i make sure they all played games in France's top league pro A,plus i put the number 1 French website basketlfb.com on the Pro A players .yet a wikipedian (night of the big) wind most likely in good faith tagged my articles stating that i fail to describe the notability yet its crystal clear ,i even mention that they play for pro A for men or league feminine de basket(lfb) for women according to wikipedia's rules the french pro A league and LFB are notable enough as TOP leagues plus the source i add can't get any better its the official source for both the men and women even used on french wikipedia articles,i worked so hard on these articles i don't want to see them go.again i feel my description of the players notability although a stub is crystal clear plus even though i added 1 source i feel its enough as its the top website on these players.i can always add more sources another time but i feel basketlfb for women and the one for the men is more than enough without the tags.i come to you cause i feel you have authority or know someone who is an administrator who can help, once again i feel wikipedian (night of the big wind) added the tags in good faith but i feel he doesnt understand that the stubs clearly give the reader the notability and reason for it plus my sources are solid.i like creating french biography articles i put alot of work into them usually i create stubs cause i like to make lots of articles quickly but i will try to add more to the articles later.i would appreciate it if you can look into this, and thanks again for helping my articles with categories. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marquette984 (talkcontribs) 09:16, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

no problem, the more i think of it the wikipedian (night of the wind) who tagged my page with the blp tags most likely did right thing.looking back i over reacted when all my articles were tagged i thought the tags at first threatened my articles with deletion ,but i think those tags are just a maintenance issue my introductions are a little messy.i was getting worried all my articles would get deleted but i think those blp tags are just for maintenance.and thanks again for adding extra categories to my articles .i created this account mostly for French basketball players but i will also create French athlete and French handball players.by the way are you French? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marquette984 (talkcontribs) 13:57, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
