Here I am trying to have a polite discussion with the editor regarding an "incorrect" change he made to a dab page, and here's what he does: he argues against it, edits my comment (which he was already told never to do [1]) and then removes the discussion as if it were nothing. Redirects

When you have the time, could I get you to delete all of the redirects listed here? None of them are likely to be search terms, none have or will ever have viable targets on Wikipedia, and I have no interest in turning them into soft redirects to the Naruto wikia. To new and even more interesting projects, of course!

As announced in the newsletter, I've been preparing to co-coordinate a large collaboration/competition called Around the World. It was going to be run at the Awards Center, but since that no longer exists, the collaboration will be hosted somewhere else.

Around the World will begin July 15th as planned - it's location will be announced soon.

It'll be a blast. In the competition, participants will be helping to develop over 200 pages (drafts, which will be moved to article space once they are ready), using advanced tools to edit every single one of them!

This is going to be interesting.

And the event shall have awards which are being created specifically for it as we speak!

If you would like me to keep you informed of this and other interesting collaborations I'll be working on and/or organizing in the future, please drop me a note on my talk page, and I'll be happy to keep you in the know.

Favor Dealing with Socks

Hey, I was wondering if you could help with some socks. There is a Xenophile fan, User:Tarja Lawless, who is constantly reappearing with new socks to bloat the place with Xena related stuff (though unfortunately, most of the socks have not been marked). He/She is readily identifiable by their almost sole focus on Xena, bad grammar, and tendency to make ill formed and inappropriate FA/FL noms. Normally User:Scarian takes care of them, but he's on a wikibreak for 10 days. I left a note on his talk page about two newest ones (after I reported the first, the sock switched to another account). Admin couching

Hi there, do you have space or the time to take on a second pupil? My article building days will be coming to an end soon (september/october time) and I would like to help the community in other ways. I do have a particular need for the tools because of the controversial article I'm interested in. I have a lot of good skills, I have achieved quite a lot in a single year. I have 19,000 edits, 8 articles to GA, I will hopefully have two FA artices in the next 6 weeks, I have reviewed a dozen articles for GA, I have adopted an editor and I have started a wikiproject and co-founded another. Need some help

Hi Sephiroth. I need your help. There is an unregistered user, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk%3A68.96.13.192, who I believe needs a block from editing. He's continually made vandal edits to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naruto:_Clash_of_Ninja_(series) and is using the article's talk page as if it was a forum, even making a personal attack against me for creating a new section on the talk page telling people not to edit the Playable Characters section without citing sources for the character they add a green checkmark for, as you can see in this edit. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3ANaruto%3A_Clash_of_Ninja_(series)&diff=222387046&oldid=222369590

What is Around the World?

It's a collaboration!

A collaboration using advanced wiki-tools!

If everything goes according to plan, it will begin on July 15th.

The event is being co-sponsored by Wikiproject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography, and participants will be "traveling" all around "the World" visiting each country online (here on Wikipedia and perhaps beyond) as they apply advanced wiki-tools to improve pieces of the profiles of each and every country on Earth!. Each pass through these pages is a "trip around the World..."

The set of pages we are working on is currently located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.

Each page presents essential information on each country in a topic outline format, for ease of overviewing and navigating. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a hypertextual map to material about each country on Wikipedia. When completed, they shall all become part of Wikipedia's contents system.

The pages share a standard format, with the information on each country presented in the same general order. So rather than getting stuck on a single country trying to complete it, each participant works on all 200+ political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages!

For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees.  :) The energy is contagious.

And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.

The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.

During the collaboration, co-coordinators will be standing by, to lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators will also be using advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.

Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators.

Hey, I need your help.

I nominated a few Sonic articles for deletion, and this dude came out of nowhere and threatened to put me in RFC, as if I was deleting articles for the hell of it, IE VANDALISM. I looked over notability and I was trying to get rid of all the cruft and useless articles to make it easier for TTN and the others, and this dude saying that he's going to put me in RFC for reasons as simple as trying to help out an encyclopedia is UNCIVIL in many ways. Unofficial request for mediation

Hi Sephiroth! I contacted you as the only admin I know well who is uninvolved in Israel-Palestine conflict-related articles or conflict articles in general (AFAIK). There was an article called Celebrations of the September 11, 2001 attacks, the existence of which was opposed by many users, so they voted to merge the article. While the vote was going on and the 'score' was 11-5 for merge or something like that (and certainly no clear consensus), and discussion was still ongoing, an involved non-admin, who himself voted in the poll, decided to unilaterally merge the article into Reactions to the September 11, 2001 attacks (in effect, he just redirected, not actually merged). Here's the diff. Here's the poll. I am asking you to please look at this issue as a non-involved admin and either close the poll as 'merge' (take note that the discussion is still ongoing), or reverse the merge for the time being. While my position on this is clear, anything you do would be great in order to prevent certain involved non-admins from making unilateral steps to advance their POV. I asked mostly because I don't edit Bleach-related articles anymore, and would like to know if someone normal still works on them, because looking at some (especially character lists), they are a bloody mess. It's sad that after spending so many hours writing and maintaining these articles, they were all merged by a single deletionist who doesn't even edit the articles. In any case, It's great to know that the article Rukia Kuchiki made GA :) I remember spending a lot of time rewriting this article once, and glad that it wasn't left to stagnate but instead another editor took up the task of improving it. I really hope that you bring more Bleach-related articles to GA/FA/FL! I'd especially like to bring your attention to Soul Reaper (Bleach), which is a former GA and has the necessary foundation for the GA status. Only thing it's lacking is stuff like 'concept', 'reception', etc. which you skillfully added to the Rukia article. Keep up the good work! -- Ynhockey ^(Talk) 07:07, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Good point. It's probably best to list in the lead and the first protagonist section as "village of Konohagakure", and then as just "Konohagakure" throughout the rest of the article. This should cut down on redundancy. I think "Konohagakure village" can work; I could be wrong though. (Guyinblack25 ^talk 06:09, 5 July 2008 (UTC))

List of Naruto characters clarification

I was reading over the article and I needed something to be clarified. I noticed it mentioned "ninja" a lot and reading through the article, I don't think it is the average ninja I know about. I'm thinking this is something else that is part of the Naruto series. Clarification about this would be helpful when I copy-edit the article. I've also set aside some of tasks I had to do and I now have time to copy-edit the article. The only thing that I might have to focus on is my new main page design proposal. Future RFA

I will be AFK from July 31 to August 5 so I will probably not want an RFA before then. Will you be on Wikipedia during the next school year regularly? Also, if and when you nominate me again, I don't think it'd be a good idea to state that you are coaching me – especially considering this is more of a hands-off coaching relationship (I don't know about you, but I prefer it that way. It gives lots more freedom for both of us.) I think the more honest assessment would be that you have been watching my contributions since I first looked for a coach, or something along those lines. There are some excellent vandal fighters on Wikipedia; I'm not one of them, and they deserve to be an administrator more than I do. Yeah, I'm slowly getting there... I'd like perhaps another co-nom or two before going again, though. Also, Sandy opposed last time because I think she was talking about how the Bill Gates FAC received support in a short amount of time; back then I didn't even know how to Support or Oppose FACs. And I don't know why Tony opposed; I guess the same reason as Sandy, and because of my poor writing skills :) English isn't really my first language... Conversion Therapy dispute

Thank you for offering a third opinion in my dispute with Whistling42. However, as potentially uncivil as it may seem to say this, I am right and Whistling42 is wrong. There is no dispute about the fact that reparative therapy is sometimes used as the name of a particular kind of sexual orientation change therapy, and not only as a synonym for conversion therapy generally. I have directed Whistling42 to a relevant source, a book by Joseph Nicolosi, but he or she shows no sign of having read it or inclination to read it. Protecting the conversion therapy page against further changes seems like a drastic step, and I'd like to ask why you think it might become necessary?
