Happy editing! Someone who's wrong on the internet (talk) 16:53, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Someone who's wrong on the internet There is a article titled 'Dutta' which needs to be changed to 'Datta' , a spelling issue. For that the already existing 'Datta' page needs to be renamed or deleted. Even after renaming, the original page can't be changed, so can you help me with deleting or renaming this page. Saptajit D (talk) 07:32, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Page move edit

If you wish to have a page deleted, please follow the instructions per our deletion policy, but please do not do this. Doing so confuses people who read the article. I recommend reversing your move to the article's original name. Thanks, 47.227.95.73 (talk) 13:25, 7 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please don't move any more pages without first establishing consensus through discussion. Please see the instructions here. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 08:22, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Justlettersandnumbers Fine I'll talk is first. Saptajit D (talk) 08:36, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

May 2023 edit

Please do not move a page to a title that is harder to follow, or move it unilaterally against naming conventions or consensus, as you did to Dutta. This includes making page moves while a discussion remains underway. We have some guidelines to help with deciding what title is best for a subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you. — kashmīrī TALK 11:34, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Kashmiri what the f**k is wrong with you! you think you know more about a Bengali surname than a Bengali. It's my very own surname and I pretty much know everything about it. You better show you knowledge on Kashmir. Saptajit D (talk) 12:37, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia. — kashmīrī TALK 13:46, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Kashmiri Don't even try to teach me you little man. Do you even know anyone about 'Dutta' or 'Dutta'. why are you continuously and baselessly changing my edits. Don't even dare to do it again, otherwise we will see who gets blocked. Saptajit D (talk) 13:49, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
You better not poke your nose into things you don't have any knowledge, Mr Pork.
Anyways what's your name and what is your problem, explain clearly. Saptajit D (talk) 13:51, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Kashmiri Only 2 pages will exist and its final, 1. Datta
2. Datta (disambiguation) Saptajit D (talk) 13:52, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Indian Museum. Your edits could be interpreted as vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use your sandbox. Thank you. Actualcpscm (talk) 16:02, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Actualcpscm Sir, you are saying it is the ninth oldest museum in the world, fine but no citation have been provided for the above. So how we know that the information which is already there is correct? i recently read in a article that it is the seventh oldest museum in the world (the catch is that- which was opened as a museum and still functioning till date) Saptajit D (talk) 18:45, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
At least one of the sources, this one, supports the claim explicitly. If you read somewhere that this is wrong, please provide that source so it can be verified in accordance with the verifiability policy.
I do agree that the claim could benefit from better sourcing, but until that is discovered / available, no change is necessary. Actualcpscm (talk) 11:47, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

May 2023 edit

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for making personal attacks towards other editors. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text at the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 14:56, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Bbb23 Fine, I accept how thing are.
Though I would like to surely say that the facts which I add or edit about places in my locality, city, state and country are deemed as incorrect. Thay say I gave no citation for the above data. Yet the prevailing incorrect data in these articles have no citation. So how to we know that the prevailing data is correct ? They will put incorrect data yet not trust locals. Saptajit D (talk) 18:49, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Bbb23 Anyways I have made up my mind to quit Wikipedia due to the dominant attitude shown by Westerners on the platform towards fellow Indians. Why don't you just permanently ban my account?
Though I surely like to add one last thing.
There is this Wikipedia editor @Kashmiri who pretty much reported me on charges of personal attack yet very slyly never mentioned the other part of the story.
My full name is Saptajit Datta and there is this Wikipedia page 'Dutta' which is technically misspelled so i corrected it yet every time he changed it. He thinks he knows more about my surname than my grandfather , uncles and I know. He even removed all those info boxes and deemed them as incorrect yet provided no citation for for his unusual and repetitive change. He did this like 5-6 times until he enraged me and I politely requested him/her to stop. Yet upon receiving numerous baseless replies, my patience waned. Is this Wikipedia culture where a person with more edits will dominate over people with knowledge and understanding of their own intimate culture? He/She not only insulted me but my whole tribe. I do seek justice if that exists on Wikipedia.

I know it's late, but this seems like a COI that devolved into personal attacks and sockpuppets. I'm taking this as a lesson to look at the source of the fire, rather than the flying embers. I like Astatine (Talk to me) 19:17, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@AstatineEnjoyer I do accept, I do not have excellent self control if provoked with baseless false claims by someone superior in authority. But the problem to be appears to be quite lucid, almost all articles on Wikipedia related to something 'Indian' is written by a non Indian who doesn't even have any basic understanding on what he/she is writings yet blindly trusts the prevailing incorrect information on the internet ( non-cited) and even goes on to add some of his or her assumptions. When a local tries to add/edit/correct something about his locality he/she is suppressed down by people superior in authority. Saptajit D (talk) 19:34, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Saptajit D: Firstly, you've been blocked for uncivility, not for contributions. Two, your allegations of racial discrimination on Wikipedia are laughable – the vast majority of editors here are anonymous, and neither you nor me nor anyone else can know anyone's ethnicity with any certainty. Three, the Dutta article is not about your or your grandfather's surname, but about a surname used by millions of other people. If you spell your surname differently than them, then tough luck, because you are in minority while Wikipedia policy on article naming is WP:COMMONNAME. That's a policy of this project, and accounts that blatantly violate project policies tend to be quickly blocked. — kashmīrī TALK 23:15, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

This is extremely gross personal attack. @Yamla, I'd recommend revoking TPA, the user is clearly NOTHERE — DaxServer (t · m · c) 08:59, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

All I ever did on Wikipedia is adding or editing information on pages within my field of knowledge or locality and cultural which I am utmost sure about. I did hope to continue that but it seems few people want me off the platform. Regards, Saptajit Datta Saptajit D (talk) 19:12, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Jay Thanks. The user has made almost no constructive edits (apart from a quick succession of short description edits to get autoconfirmed) and is definitely NOTHERE. An indefinite block? — kashmīrī TALK 09:39, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I only revoked talk page access, and went with Bbb23's block period. Bbb23 can comment on what has transpired since the block. Jay 💬 10:29, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
