I've seen the categories. What is your point? That it's a subcat of Japanese films? It doesn't matter, look at Category:Japanese films, it says right on top: "For convenience, all Japanese films are included in this category. This includes all Japanese films that can also be found in the subcategories." I agree with you, I think these categories should be container categories with no articles on films directly categorized, and I've thought about proposing to change this rule at the Film project, but they probably wouldn't change it and I'd be wasting my time. Sorting for categories.

You reverted some default names I added to various pages. "Default sort" is to maintain alphabetization on category and sub-category pages. For example, Patty Hewes is an article contained in Category:Fictional characters from New York City and Category:Fictional lawyers. These categories are "last name, first name" categories, and "Patty Hewes" is not supposed to be listed under "P", regardless of what choice has been made on the article itself (By the way, using the first name throughout is more usually discouraged, per WP:LASTNAME, although there can be exceptions if they make sense, or if there's consensus to have a less encyclopedic tone.) __ E L A Q U E A T E 15:35, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

And how about you talk about it more rather than mass reverting my changes? Adding default sorts in order to keep categories properly alphabetized shouldn't be seen as controversial. We commonly categorize by surname. Look, all of the "fictional character" categories are contained in Category:Fictional characters which is a sub-cat of Category:People. An example showing that we deal with fictional characters this way is also found in WP:CMOS#LSORT. It's also clear from general practice that categories like Category:Fictional lawyers are organized by last name and that there is a broad consensus to do so in categories concerning fictional characters. I don't see any benefit to the encyclopedia of demanding that Patty Hewes must be alphabetized under "P", when it would be better under "H". I'm adding a "default sort" in order to help navigation through standard alphabetization backed up by policy and practice, and you're reverting me for no benefit that I can see. __ E L A Q U E A T E 21:39, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

And your last edit has a really strange edit summary for Ada Wong. Do you understand that having a "default sort" of "Wong, Ada" never changes how the article appears to be titled anywhere? It never says anything but "Ada Wong" in any of the category lists and nobody would ever read "Wong, Ada" anywhere. Ada Wong is known as "Ada" (and isn't a person). You really thought "Ocelot" was a surname of Revolver Ocelot, didn't you?[1] It's funny because you were accidentally right, but only because he's most known as Ocelot (which was also his original nickname). And what you linked is about comics characters: [2] With video games we roll like that: [3] We usually don't care about surnames so much that, for example Sophita Alexandra is just Sophitia and Jax Briggs is just Jax (Mortal Kombat). You know, you've brushed the line a bunch, but you had managed not to give anyone a strong reason to block you again recently- until today. You are topic banned from the GA process, and have been for almost a year. That hasn't expired. And you were topic banned for exactly the reason that you showed at Talk:Ling Xiaoyu/GA1 - you argue vehemently against anyone who disagrees with you at all, but you are especially bad when it comes to GA reviewers asking for fixes/changes to an article. You successfully destroyed someone else's nomination by being incredibly aggressive and rude, and violated your topic ban in the process. As such, I'm blocking you for two weeks. Which part was "incredibly aggressive" and which was "rude"? As for the other article, I still stand by my point as the article is written almost exclusively from the point of view of how the characters are presented in the novels. That could never work because the vidya crowd would most certainly catch wind of it - either through those who have noticed the articles through the recent thread or through deletion sorting. I am not too much involved in all this drama, but I do want to punch in with the fact that AfD is for deleting articles, and article/project talkpages are for merging articles. AfDs can close as Keep and still get merged, because as some like Bridies has stated, just because something "meets GNG" doesn't mean it is fit for an article. It is just fit for inclusion somewhere on Wikipedia, such as a character list.

The popular thinking among some editors is that lists of characters can have "inherit notability" from their series, and don't need anything establishing notability, thus the other popular thinking is that if something on the list individually displays notability, it must be split. In truth, a list can be a collection of notable subjects, displayed in one place simply because there isn't the content available for a full article. I absolutely don't think "inherit notability" exists. You know, I merged/redirected/deleted just countless (I don't know, maybe even hundreds by now) of unreferenced articles no matter of the subject, even got into arguments with people thinking that (like with some James Bond articles, there was a ridicalous ammount of them before my purge[10][11] and I wanted to rid of some more of them still but eventually gave up). I actually personally would rather reception sections go the way that editor described. The reception section should not be a directory of every time a subject was mentioned. "Editor Bob of ReviewSite thinks this guy is awesome" means little to the reader. However, "many/some/a few reviewers think highly of the character" means much more, and doesn't bog down the reader with useless information. If they wish to check the sources to see exactly who said that, then they can.

However, back to my real point, it shouldn't matter whether an article is split or merged. In order to be split, an article should also have enough quality content which can not exist on the parent article. I don't want to get into an edit war, and I am trying to do my best. I do not believe anything in that lead was trivial; it was a summary. The fact that the band is on the Billboard charts is not trivial, and to give a general description of the music is in line with the requirements. And "significant information should not appear in the lead if it is not covered in the remainder of the article." All of the info IS covered in the article. Battletoads in Battlemaniacs

I'm thinking about nominating Battletoads in Battlemaniacs for good article status, but I wanted your opinion on it beforehand since you contributed quite a lot to the article before I did. The gameplay and plot sections are fine, I think (maybe the wording on the gameplay section could be changed slightly). The reception section is a little bare, but it has both praise and criticism of the game in what little reviews I could find. The only lacking section is development/release. I can't find any interviews or "making of" articles for the game, so the only content in that section talks about the Master System version. Could be a problem, but if there's nothing to talk about, there's nothing to talk about.

The old PS1 game is an entity unto itself, which is why it has its own section. The PS2, PSP, and other video games are adaptations of Stand Alone Complex which is why they do not have their own independent header. Don't parrot back my warning at you. This is WP:BRD, a basic etiquette on this website. You made a bold edit (removing the separate section). I reverted it. Now instead of you repeatedly restoring the preferred version, a discussion should be made on the article's talk page so a wider audience can decide if there is a new consensus for your proposed changes. Neither of us should be edit warring over this because as soon as one revert was made a discussion should have taken place instead of being stubborn and asserting that your new version should be the one on the article.
