2018 FIFA World Cup squads - Player representation by club confederation

Hi, about a week ago an IP pointed out in talk page that our table there is wrong. From its numbers, there is a total of 737 players, but it should be 736 (32 x 23). Thanks for your swift reply, and also your commendation. Well, I think many editors here have contributed more than I have, in this tournament as well as other football articles :) I have mostly been confining myself to some notable events (Premiership, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga; Champions League, Europa League; Euro, World Cup) and pages involving teams that I am interested in (actually I am a Manucian, but Manchester United's pages are popular enough already, so I spend much time on Athletic Bilbao, and my national team's official tournaments). About the final, my favourite is France. Croatian midfielders and forwards are quite comparable to French, but France's defenders are considerably superior. France are also better physically (1 more rest day after the semi-finals, did not have to play any extra times), just not psychologically (not many people expected Croatia to go this far, so their mind would be quite relaxed). After World Cup, I think I will take a short wikibreak, take care of some non-wiki things, then return next month :) Centaur271188 (talk) 11:23, 13 July 2018 (UTC)

@Flix11: The article mentioned does seem to include information on the kits (with shorts and socks) from FIFA, I believe it is a screenshot from their internal/press information system. FR Yugoslavia

Hi, I see you reverted my edits, by saying just "unnecessary" based on what ? the country competed under the name of Yugoslavia, and I know this is a different Yugoslavia but we also don't use the name of SFR Yugoslavia for before 1998 tournaments. so why here ? Well, the article on the previous Yugoslavia team is at Yugoslavia national football team. In order to avoid ambiguity, FR Yugoslavia should be used as it is clearer to readers (it doesn't hurt, does it?). If Wikipedia existed in 1998, prior to the name change, I think the article would be located at FR Yugoslavia national football team. If you look at Serbia and Montenegro national football team, "FR Yugoslavia" is used consistently. This is a unique situation, but if it benefits our readers (not all may be familiar), I think there is no reason to remove the clarification. S.A. Julio (talk) 23:56, 21 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi again, I got busy with other things and just forgot to continue this discussion, I also think there is no reason to have this "FR" thing. I already explained my reasons, there should be consistency between all wiki pages and they don't use "FR" for other sports (see volleyball, basketball etc) or also in these articles regarding the Olympics, Yugoslavia at the Olympics. if we are still in disagreement I will take this to the football project and let them decide because I really don't think that FR thing should be there. WP:OTHERCONTENT applies, though it may be used elsewhere does not make it correct/need to be used here (I also suspect the template system plays a role, as when calling 'FR Yugoslavia', the default display name is only Yugoslavia). There's no reason not to be clear to our readers with no ambiguity, and it doesn't detract from the articles. The Olympics is different, for football we recognise FR Yugoslavia/Serbia and Montenegro as the same, separate from the Yugoslavia to 1992, hence the reason to be clear to readers who may not be familiar. I have twice made minor wording edits to the venues table/section because I found some confusion in the given table, with included explanation of how I found it confusing in the edit note. Now twice you've later gone back later and changed it back to the original wording without any discussion as to why. You may really like your word choice more, but as I explained how it may (and did for me) lead to confusion, I'd think that'd be the primary concern. At least to me (predominantly American English, some British English interaction), the word "rejected" in such a case is ambiguous, given it a) doesn't indicate who rejected... whether the city rejected an offer or UEFA did, and b) is a full synonym for eliminated. It also gives no help for users wondering why they were rejected as opposed to eliminated. It's the type of thing I do believe a user can work out/guess at the intended meaning of, but might often requiring notable effort. So I figured a small change could clear up potential issues... and tried first a few clarifying words in the text, and then altering "rejected standard package" to "invalid standard package" to be much more direct and specific on why they those cities weren't selected (without any change in article length). But with your unexplained reversions, it comes across almost dismissive, as if you only want to have the article exactly as you like it, and maybe can't envision the challenges others might face in it? And also comes across almost as if you don't put much value to the well-intentioned good faith edits of others. It would seem an unnecessary degree of commotion, but if you're really set on your opinion against such edits, it could be opened to discussion with others to determine if I'm isolated in seeing confusion or to get further options. Or maybe such edits were really unintentional, perhaps due to data still on your system or keeping harmony with the Bids article (I just realized it has the same table)? Or just done quickly without significant intention regarding the wording? I realize you certainly work very hard on tons of articles, and often must stave off vandalism and harmful edits. And it looks like your work is of great value to all. So I certainly don't mean be any trouble, but would think it best to find a solution that might work well for all? If you are adding that cat to lots of page. Do you need a macro? If so add the contents of User:Ronhjones/anp.js to you <skin>.js (e.g if you use monobook, then edit monobook.js. The joys, or not, of python vs. Windoze ( - python wins every time). If I write the page name in plain text, and I get a "UnicodeEncodeError", then I print the uft-8 string. If there is something else wrong, it will probably skip writing that item - possibly the dash, maybe the apostrophe (they always cause havoc - I think Windows wants a two together, like 1885–86 St. Mary''s Y.M.A. season to give the right answer). I've done quite a few searches under Category:Association football players using AWB, and have never come across that article. I found that when one gets the wikitext of a page, there is an automatic seamless follow of redirects as default. We can adjust the call not to follow redirects, and we can make sure we don't add the category to a redirect page. I think that will stop any more issues. When we do the main run, I can make sure any redirects with cats are listed. Ronhjones  ^(Talk) 23:56, 21 July 2018 (UTC)

Just waiting for bot approval now. This bit can take a while. One is only supposed to "poke" after 7 days with no answer (the bot group do like to have one person to approve the trial and a different one to final approve). Anyway, let's assume we get permission this week. I would like to plan a Friday night start (my broadband total is limited in peak times - editing that many pages might push it over the edge). Looking at the trial, I got about 25 pages a minute, which is great (if it keeps up) - for 44000 edits we can then be looking at about a 30 hour run - it will be nice if it works - been here before, a big run can sometimes fall over for no apparent reason. I would probably do a quick small trial to test the flagging of re-directs first.Ronhjones  ^(Talk) 18:27, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

It would be a major change to pick a place to add the category - typically what is done is to get the entire text as a variable and concatenate the category - thus "pagetext" is the whole page "\n" is a new line, and then we add the cat thus...

       pagetext = pagetext+"\n"+"[[Category:Association footballers not categorized by position]]"

I would have to scan the text to find the number of instances of "stub", then find the first one that is within a template and find the insertion point before that template - not easy, more likely to get some error. Trying to get intelligence into a bot is always tricky - you have to try and guess of ll the supid things that editors can do to cause a problem. We would need to go through more trials to get approval for such a change. What we can do without any issues is to add a line (or two) of code to make a new list of articles (having the cat added) that have "stub", and that list of stubs can then be put into some user sub-page. Great - All set up for he first wave. Takes about 2h to get all the pages and complete the comparisons to get list of pages to add the category to, so should start the 1000 edits at about 03:00 UTC - best estimate is 25 per minute, so should finish first wave 40 minutes later (all being well...). Once the bot has fully populated 'not categorized by position', I was hoping to compare the articles in that category vs. the articles which transclude {{Infobox football biography}}, and get a list of which articles are unique to 'not categorized by position' (i.e. players missing a position category and a football infobox). @Kingjeff: More in the sense that since Soccerway and Worldfootball are the two sources used, the references can just be added by the 'updated' template, reducing the table width. "A heading should not contain links"

Probably.

At some of those pages, the headers used to consist of the {{fb}} template, so not only did they contain links, but they also displayed the flag, which made it more difficult to link to the particular sections. You had to check if the specific page did or didn't use the template, and if it did, you had to insert an extra space between the # and the country name, like this: [[1982_FIFA_World_Cup_squads#_Argentina]].

@Theurgist: Yes, thanks for removing the fb template from the headings. The best solution is to include the link in prose, such as UEFA Euro 2016 squads. However, it's difficult as prose is only included on squad pages for the last World Cups, though all the countries are linked in the "finalist" templates at the bottom. There's the Goalscorers article also. The rule, as stated at MOS:HEADING, implies that such links are not absolutely banned but just undesirable, and then less so if the entire heading, rather than only part of it, is linked. With a regular pattern where every second-level heading consists of just a country name and links to that country's national team, I don't think the linked headings would be that much of a problem, at least no more than artificially and sometimes redundantly making up prose so as to mention the country name once again and link it. And even if a template somewhere at the bottom contains the links, it's only natural that the sections discussing the squads should contain them too. --Theurgist (talk) 14:56, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

The section you added seems to be missing punctuation (lacking spaces following full stops), as well as the diacritics in players' names, and needs further copyediting. Also, if you have any time would you mind helping with another search using the AWB list comparer tool? I was hoping to compare the list of articles at User:S.A. Julio/sandbox vs. the articles which transclude {{Infobox football biography}}, and get a list of which articles are unique to only the sandbox page, would be very much appreciated. Also, I'm not as familiar with AWB's more advanced functions. I've been trying to categorise players by the position listed in their infobox, using a regex to skip pages that don't contain the position I'm categorising (i.e. goalkeeper). When you use AWB, there is an option "Use pre-parse mode". When that is selected, then when you hit start, it will run non-stop through the list of files (no pages are saved in this mode), files that are designated as "skipped" are removed from the list. The only issue is sometimes the stub tag is incorrect, for example here on Yasuto Wakizaka, a midfielder that had a goalkeeper stub tag. The "unexplained" removal of Boca Juniors squad numbers (according to your edit) refers to some numbers that were wrong and therefore I fixed them. I based on this video on youtube and some Argentine sports magazines published in those times.

(Currently there are 384 categories in Category:Association football players by nationality and Category:Women's association football players by nationality, excluding those sorted under * and +. Only the top level of the nationality categories would need to be checked, no subcats). I'd be curious how many articles currently don't include a nationality category. S.A. I've been playing with some new ideas in python - looking at speeding up the original task7. I've found a way of a fast list compare, so I thought I would try it for this task and see how well it works - it does away with hundred of thousands of "if" statements, which are usually quick, but the sheer number starts to make an impact. Anyway I made two lists...

1. Category:Association football players by position
2. Category:Association football players by nationality plus Category:Women's association football players by nationality

Then basically ListD=List1-List2 gives ListD of everything in List1 that is not in List2

This list has been placed at User:RonBot/Football players missing nationality, and I've made then all clickable links. Have a look and see if this looks like the data you want (743 items) Ronhjones  ^(Talk) 21:00, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

None of the remaining categories are in the footballer category tree, shouldn't the article have been removed from Category:Association footballers not categorized by position by the bot? S.A. Err...No. Because he's not in any of the 21 "footballers who have a position" lists, then Task7 won't remove him as he has not a position. I'm going to rewrite Task7 based on the success of this run (which is Task15), and I'll look and see if there is any easy way finding such anomalies. Also do you want Task15 run at (weekly?) intervals, there's bound to be some extra ones coming along with no nationality, and it's a fairly quick run with the better coding. Still having it's moments, running a dummy trial now. It might have to wait for the version 2 (re-write = half done). The main problem seems to be that sometimes it fails (or wiki fails) to send a block of names (all bots can only get 5000 results per Api call), thus the constructed list of names to add (or remove) templates from is not correct. Since there are (I think) only 22 position categories, it makes sense to check each proposed page for one of the 22 categories before adding/removing the template - I will do that in the version 2 (V1 is already too slow to add so much extra). Works for me - it will make the Version 2 final check much easier - seeing if one of 20 cats is in a page is way quicker than seeing if one of 271 cats is on the page. I'll will fix the "Position Known" list to just these 20 cats and no recursion. I looked at an old log file - it was 22 - derrived from the original 15 given at Wikipedia:Bot_requests/Archive_76#Association_footballers_not_categorized_by_position - the missing 2 are Category:Association football goalkeepers who have scored and Category:Women's association football goalkeepers who have scored - let me know if you want to add those in. That's a BIG category, wiki always limits to 5000 names per call, so that's almost 180 large Api calls just to get all the names. AWB might work, but it might fall over as well.

Try this - go to Special:Search and enter "Carol Klein" incategory: "Living people", and click Search - result is you find her page. Do the same "Dianne Oxberry" incategory: "Living people" and her page does not come up (she died recently), you need to change it to "Dianne Oxberry" -incategory: "Living people" to get the result (note the minus before the "incategory"). I think that's the better way, the amount of data to and from wiki is then minimal (a simple search, and a few page names returned). I see that as an easy bot task. I would suggest you put your list into a new sub-page of User:RonBot - the bot can then read it and write back the answers to the same page (and no bot approval needed). Hi, I have a poster at OTRS who has an issue with Harry Kane. It says (5th paragraph) "Kane featured and scored at UEFA Euro 2016". Thai names

Hi. Could you change the names of the Thai players shown at File:THA-IND 2019-01-06.svg, from their surnames to their given names? It has been the practice in all football competitions' articles where Thailand is competing to use the given name instead of the surname. This file seems the only exception so changing the names would make it consistent. An explanation regarding this is explained User_talk:Molecule_Extraction#Thai_names here by a Wikipedian in Thailand. Thank you very much.

Vietnamese name

For a tournament where a 23 man squad is announced, it is better to probably use only their first name as they are unnecessarily long. You may notice that how in the previous years only the first names are used in all the competitions including the age group ones. In the qualifiers the full name may be used because lot of their names tend to be the same, for example there are 2 Bùi Tiến Dũng's in the Vietnamese squad. If it is to be written as other East Asian names then other long names like Japanese names should also probably be given similar style.--Anbans 585 (talk) 18:07, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

@Dey subrata: Please do not update statistics or scores while a match is in progress. Instead, wait until the match has finished before updating. At WikiProject Football there is a consensus not to add live scores and not to update any statistics while a match is in progress. Without live updates it is easier to avoid duplicate information and errors being published on the article. This includes updating match statistics prior to the completion of the penalty shoot-out. Cat:Association footballers from Northern Ireland

Hello. Noticed this being added to a couple of footballers on my watchlist, and wondered whether playing for its national team at some level is enough to qualify for being "from" Northern Ireland? E.g. Lee Camp has a grandparent born in NI, which qualifies him for their international team, but he (and his parents) are "from" somewhere in England. @Struway2: I agree the category name is a bit misleading. Though, I'd think international players should also have the "parent" nationality category of their team(s)? For example, a player such as Luis Monti should also be in Category:Italian footballers? Also note the top of Category:Northern Ireland international footballers, which states: Players in this category should also be included in Category:Association footballers from Northern Ireland. Looking at the history, Category:Association footballers from Northern Ireland was moved back in 2009 because of the disputed use of the term "Northern Irish". However, I'd think a better title of the category would be Category:Northern Ireland association footballers, similar to other categories such as Category:Democratic Republic of the Congo footballers. It probably is just the name that I have a problem with. Category:Republic of Ireland association footballers, so named, explicitly "includes players who were born in what is now the Republic of Ireland or who have played for the Republic of Ireland national football team at senior level, junior level or both". If that's the scope of the corresponding NI category, Category:Northern Ireland association footballers would seem appropriate. But it's more than a football issue, and sensitive: the suggestion of "Northern Ireland people by occupation" certainly didn't go down well in 2009... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 21:57, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

@Struway2: Yeah, a bit of a strange situation. Using the word "from" seems to add unnecessary ambiguity, with a similar mention back in 2010 of a category move (though met with no response). The overall Irish category structure seems complicated (e.g. Category:Republic of Ireland association footballers is not connected to Category:Sportspeople from the Republic of Ireland) and has gone through many discussions, so I'm unsure of whether it would be worth the effort. @Kante4: You're right, the module didn't support the points percentage before. I've now added it, the percent can be displayed with |ranking_style=percentage. I believe everything should be correct? Hey, I added the numbers of a couple players whose numbers were visible in pictures on their Instagram/Twitter, and you removed my edits for them being unsourced. Something as small as that makes it seem like it would be a waste of space to source, for something which would be removed whenever they move clubs next, anyway. Is it really necessary? @Tknauff23: I'd take shirt numbers used during preseason with a grain of salt, they could very well change in the future. I'd wait for some official roster/team list published by the team which has all the numbers. To address your question though, in general an inline reference isn't necessary, but maybe in the edit summary leave a URL for the information, or add a source on the main team/season article. S.A. @Theroadislong: The page does seem a bit misleading, I too missed the note at first (The player section of this notability guidance has been superseded by WP:Notability (sports), and is included below for information only as a record of the previous guidance that the Footy project came up with.). The current guideline is located at WP:NFOOTY, which requires players to have played in a fully pro league or senior international. Hi Julio, I saw that you removed the link to Heinz Baumann from the See Also section in the Maurice Banach article [5] for not being related closely enough. Well, I added the link because I think Baumann was quite closely related. He supported the team members, family and friends in the struggles after Banach's death, which is documented in many sources, including some published decades after the event, indicating that those involved back then still remember Baumann for his support even now. I think these kinds of associations are exactly what WP:SEEALSO is about. Some sources state that this support is what actually established his role as "FC pastor" in the decades afterwards, while I also found one source stating that he was already engaged in the role for quite some while before that event - either case, it was an important piece in his history as FC pastor - and vice versa. Disciplinary records for Euro Qualifiers

Hi, long time no see :) I have been quite busy in real life after World Cup, so I have not edited much (except Athletic Bilbao's season page). It seems that we have no players serving suspensions from Nations League. I hope you could confirm that information. @Centaur271188: Hello! I've meant to add the suspension info but procrastinated, UEFA publishes a list prior to each matchday. Currently ten players are listed, though all the suspensions except for Dejan Lovren come from youth competitions. @Centaur271188: I added wording similar to 2018 qualification as "carried over" is a bit misleading as the suspension was given in January. Also hopefully the scorer module isn't too confusing, it's extremely useful in tallying all the players. It automatically sorts by number of goals (in the group/playoffs/overall), nationality, and surname (diacritics are also sorted correctly). If there are two or more parts to the surname, &nbsp; can be used to 'connect' the surname for sorting purposes, e.g. [[Jón Daði Böðvarsson]]. S.A. Julio (talk) 17:24, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

Euro 2020 Qualification play-off positions

Hi,

I added a new section to the play-off page last night showing the 16 teams who are currently in the play-off positions for each of the 4 play-offs. You deleted it leaving a comment saying that there was no such thing as "current" play-off teams. I therefore renamed it "Provisional" but you deleted it again today.

I do believe that there is value in showing this information as it is a very dynamic and non-trivial situation and is not immediately obvious which teams are currently in line to end up in the play-off spots. It's similar to why we show the group tables throughout the competition even though the only table that matters is the one after all of the games have been completed.

If you are not happy with having this information on this particular page can you suggest an alternative location for it? I tried to add it directly to the main Euro 2020 page instead but I realised that that was just a link back to the play-offs page which is why I updated it here.

@Sperick: This table is not necessary, there already is a table showing the teams which have priority. Teams should only be added once they have guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. The issue with the existing priority list is that there is no connection between that and the current state of the qualification groups. Now for League D this is unlikely to be a problem since we expect the 4 teams at the top of the priority list to be the 4 teams that will ultimately end up in that play-off. However for the higher leagues this is probably not going to be the case. In League A, especially the situation is likely to get quite complex.

And yet on the main qualification page they currently are marked as the provisional qualifiers (by way of them being highlighted in light green).

If you are dead set against the section that I added then as a compromise I suggest that an additional column can be added to the priority list table showing the current group positions of each team so that people can more readily work out who are currently in the play-off spots. Alternatively, a new high-light colour could added to show which teams are currently in the play-off spots.

At this point, with the qualifiers just begun, I see little benefit from this provisional list, and it may add to the confusion for readers of an already complex process. S.A. Krestovsky Stadium

Hey there, S.A. Julio

Page name for Gazprom Arena has beed reverted to Krestovsky Stadium but it never has been an official name for the stadium, so I'm little bit confused.

I think that the article name should reflect the name that currently used.

@Venuelab: There is a consensus on WP:FOOTY to use non-sponsored names when possible (i.e. Westfalenstadion, not Signal Iduna Park). I'm unaware if this stadium was referred to as "Krestovsky Stadium" during construction, maybe opening a WP:Requested move discussion would be the best option in order to gain consensus. S.A. Julio: I have requested a move and it was approved without any discussion :-( In our case, there is no official non-sponsored name, just a "Saint Petersburg Stadium" that was used on the FIFA World Cup. @Venuelab: Ah correct, I moved the page back because no one participated in the discussion, as not many people likely noticed it. When i look up the 2019 AFC Champions League, i find Hhkohh explained in the edit summary that 'although still in progress but unless JSS kick 2 more goals and SHE kick 3 more goals' on 7 November 2018. Here is my question: i know that we can't make live edits. 1962 FIFA World Cup Final tactical line-up scheme

Hello! I found your name under the tactical line-up scheme for the 1962 WC final, so I assume you are the creator. I wonder what was the basic source for determining players' positions on the pitch? I've been searching for 1962 WC tactical line-ups in many sources and also I've watched the games which I could find online including the final. Judging by what I have found I can say that the Czech line-up in fact was a bit different. Czech TV broadcasters give such tactics of their team (fisrt two minutes of the video): Defenders (from R to L): 12 - Tichý, 5 - Pluskal, 3 - Popluhár, 4 - Novák (c), Midfielders: 19 - Kvašňák, 6 - Masopust, Forwards: 17 - Pospíchal, 8 - Scherer, 18 - Kadraba, 11 - Jelínek. Actually the video of the final match shows that the Czechs played according to this scheme and Jelínek surely occupied the left wing in attack. The same way he did in other Czechoslovakia games, e.g. against Spain. To sum it all up I suggest that we discuss it and possibly find some more sources to prove what the real line-up for the Czechs was. Can you make some more tactical schemes for the same tournament? Great! I'm glad you support my idea. The Brazilian formation for the final game is almost correct. The only thing to be changed are the names of Zito and Didi - Didi was playing in midfield closer to the right side, Zito to the left. Now I'm trying to get right all the formations of the teams which played in Group 3. I take it quite seriously and double-check each team line-up using articles online and videos. I will let you know as soon as I finish. It would be nice if we could add the line-ups to this page. If you also make kits design this page will surely help you with this. Hello again! I've finally finished checking out the formations of the Group 3 teams of the 1962 FIFA World Cup. Everything seems to be in order now though some slight discrepancies between the text sources and commentators' words exist. I'd like to point out that Brazil played 4-2-4 attacking and 4-3-3 defending in most matches of the tournament. That means that Zagallo was placed a little bit behind the other Brazilian forwards and often helped in the midfield. The Czechs also used 4-2-4 through the first three games keeping basically the same people on the pitch. Mexican formation looked like 4-2-4 as well and the Spanish played 3-2-5 according to the Spanish source I found. As I could judge by the videos outside right and left along with the centre forward Puskas were the main attacking force getting some help from inside forwards placed slightly backwards. Thus they formed a big W of the Spanish attack. If you could make tactical schemes for all the group matches using these notes that would be just perfect for the article. Unused substitutes in 1986 world cup

Hi,

I have made an edit to the knockout stages of the 1986 World cup. Between 1970 and 1990 all the teams were allowed to name a squad of 16 for every world cup match out of the full squad of 22 - 11 in the starting team and 5 substitutes. In the pages 1982 and 1990 for every of the 52 matches are listed the 5 substitutes, including those that were no used during the match. In the 1986 world cup that same piece of information is missing. Rules for using the substitute players were changed before the 1994 world cup. From then on all 22, later 23 players were available for every world cup match. Before that - between 1970 and 1990 that was not the case. Your example with the 2018 world cup is completely irrelevant. The file File:UEFA Nations League Finals.svg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free logo being used in a decorative manner in UEFA Nations League#Format. File:UEFA Nations League.svg is being used for primary identification purposes at the top of the article; so, the non-free use rationale's claim that this file is needed for that purpose is not correct at all. Most major international sports competitions have various rounds, often ending in a final or championship round. The reader doesn't really need to see a non-free logo of the final per WP:FREER for the league's format to be understood. Moreover, there's no specific sourced critical commentary related to the final's logo anywhere in the main article about the league which means the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is also not being provided. If this was used for primary identification purposes in a stand-alone article about the final itself, then it's non-free use would likely be justified; however, non-free use can't really be justified that way the file is currently being used in the article about the league. It might be possible to use this in an article about an individual occurrence of the final, but File:2019 UEFA Nations League Finals.svg is being used for that purpose in 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals and there's no way to justify using basically the same non-free file twice in the same article per WP:NFCC#3a.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Non-free svg files

Hi S.A. Julio. It appears that you have recently (or somewhat recently) been creating svg versions of some national soccer/football team logos as replacements for non-svg versions being used in various team articles. While it's not completely clear whether re-creating a logo in svg format is considered sufficient to create a WP:Derivative work with a new copyright per c:COM:SVG#Copyright, non-free svg logos should generally only use if official svg versions provided by the original copyright holder when the original file being replaced is also non-free as explained in WP:FREER. However, if the original file being replaced is licensed as WP:PD or has been released under a free license (i.e. has been uploaded to Commons), then a non-free svg version of the same file (or basically the same file with minor difference) will never be considered to meet WP:NFCC#1 just because it's an svg version. If you have reason to think that a file uploaded to Commons cannot be kept on Commons, then you can nominate the file for deletion per c:COM:DR; however, it's also a possibility that the Commons file may only need to be re-licensed instead of deleted, which is something that can often be sorted out at c:COM:VPC. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:23, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Hey man, I saw that you've made the image for the formations of the OFC Champions League final. Cheers for that! It makes Wikipedia look more professional to have that sort of thing included on articles.

However, will all praise, there's a request for help (typically, of course!). Would you have the time (or will) to make them for the FFA Cup finals pages? I would, but I have no idea what I'm doing and would end out making it so badly, that the internet would probably catch fire somehow.

Countries at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup

Hi, I saw you removed empty categories from this type from the group pages. I restored them saying I'll create them, but then saw it is more work than I have time for rn, so removed again. Seems weird that only about 11 nations have this kind of categories (looking at previous World Cups), while others don't. @SuperJew: Sorry got lost in a few projects. I think most often the categories were created by editors interested in the relevant country's football. A similar half-filled category can be seen at Category:Countries at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
