In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. List of Latvians

edit

Dear Ron: Before embarking on removing names from the List of Latvians, did you stop to read what the article is supposed to contain?

This is a list of prominent Latvians. It includes:

  • persons who were born in the historical territory of what is now Latvia, regardless of ethnicity, citizenship, or time period; and
  • persons of Latvian descent regardless of their place of birth or citizenship.

Thus, Baryshnikov would indeed fit this list. In English "Latvian" can mean both "ethnically Latvian" and "of Latvia"; other languages, such as Russian and Swedish, have separate words for these concepts. If you're going to remove names, at least provide an edit summary with your rationale. Otherwise, your edits may be construed as vandalism. Thanks! —Zalktis (talk) 16:16, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
