Per WP:BLP, we need a source verifying his death. Can you provide one? – Connormah (talk) 19:06, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. – Connormah (talk) 19:48, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Thanks again. I was also trying to find a source, but you got to err on the side of caution when it's something like this and not post it without a source. I've also removed the "passed away" part per WP:EUPHEMISM, but other than that, all looks good. – Connormah (talk) 19:52, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, if the Twitter account was an official account, I think it can be considered a reliable source, but since we've got the news article, it's unnecessary now. – Connormah (talk) 19:56, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Exactly - again, thanks for the understanding/help, etc. – Connormah (talk) 20:00, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Wichita South High School

No. Its the class of 2001. Im a South alum and I also played football there. My sister, was a member of the senior class of 2001 and the football team didnt win a single game in her time there. Under 2 usernames and a few different IP addresses , I've written about 90% of the article. Everything I have written is the truth, just a lot of it I have had trouble being able to find references for it. I've done what I could.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 16:08, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

You've done a great job, but the problem with the article, and most high school articles, is Verifiability because there is a lack of References.
Search the Wichita-Eagle newspaper website and other sources to backup your claims with references.
You should look at WikiProject Schools guideline, and some other great high scool articles:
Garden City High School (KS), Plano Senior High School (TX), Johnson Senior High School (MN), Stuyvesant High School (NY).
Please read the "Editing, Creating, and Maintaining Articles" chapter from the book Wikipedia : The Missing Manual, ISBN 9780596515164.

Please add some references to the history section. It looks great but needs the references. You can reference printed books, and I did it on the Peabody, Kansas article because of the lack of online information. • SbmeirowTalk • 07:04, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Bakhtiari

Hey again. In regards to your edit to the Chiefs' roster template, team websites are, as I told you during the Palmer incident, unreliable and inaccurate often. ProFootballWeekly is the website used for roster templates changes here, as they get their information directly from the official NFL transaction wire, unlike team websites. On August 29, ProFootballWeekly said that Bakhtiari was waived/injured ([1]), a designation that results in a player landing on his original team's injured reserve list once he passes through waivers unclaimed. On August 30, PFW said that Bakhtiari passed through waivers and was subsequently placed on the Chiefs' injured reserve list as expected ([2]). Until the Chiefs release him with an injury settlement (I've also heard that players who go through this process are eligible to play in week 7 or so, but injury settlements are more common), Bakhtiari will remain on the injured reserve list. Eagles 24/7 (C) 03:06, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Thats wierd as hell. That transaction list on their website is crazy detailed and has every small little transaction on it and nowhere on it does mention him being put on IR. But I also found him on nfl.com as on IR, nothing against profootball weekly, but I personally trust nfl.com over profootball weekly. I really gotta start finding more sources I feel like an idiot when I get corrected like this.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 03:18, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
It's from the official NFL transaction wire, which, I assume, also has every bit of detail. Here it says "KANSAS CITY - Reserve/injured: LB Eric Bakhtiari (head)" (reserve/injured obviously meaning injured reserve). And no, NFL.com is not as accurate as PFW for some reason. Eagles 24/7 (C) 03:22, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
That is a bit of a head scratcher. I saw the transactions on there. That does pretty much clinch me not being able to trust team websites anymore. Not that they can't be trusted for anything, but its going to be harder.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 03:25, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
While thinking about it, are practice squad players supposed to have "Active" as their roster status?? Because none of the Chiefs players on their practice squad have their roster status stating that.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 03:27, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
I just don't understand why they wouldn't use official transactions. Practice squad players should have "Practice squad" as their roster status. With 1,100 players released in the past two days, along with around 250 signed to practice squads, the guys who update roster templates haven't bothered updating the player pages. We've left the pages to the IPs and other users, but some pages just don't get updated quickly. Feel free to update them and any other outdated pages you see. Eagles 24/7 (C) 03:32, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Neither do I. It doesn't make much sense the leagues offical website wouldn't do that. But I understand that. I've got dual fanhood, I'm a diehard Chiefs and Bengals both, so I will update those. I work in the AM so I don't feel like staying up late updating them all. Lol--Rockchalk717 (talk) 03:35, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Hey, ya do what you can here. If we got paid to edit on the other hand... Eagles 24/7 (C) 03:39, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Ha ha. It would be way different, I already know.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 03:42, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Chiefs template

I'm sorry if I came off as rude. I was just tired because I've seen many, many wrong edits recently. If you want to know the procedures, ask me, Eagles247, Pats1, or anyone else who works on the rosters and we'd be glad to help. Again, I'm sorry if I came off as rude. RevanFan (talk) 18:58, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Just remember, if you're adding a player to a team, check if the player has been on the team before, and if they have, find what their number was. I do this by looking in the past history of the template. Also, remember to find their full position, like OLB versus MLB/ILB. Don't just use LB. Also, the most important part of all, update the roster count when adding a transaction. If you have any questions, ask away. Now, I'd like to forget about my stupidity in the "interaction with others" department. RevanFan (talk) 19:25, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Has consensus established that TMZ is now OK? I remember that there was great resistance to using the site when Michael Jackson was first reported dead. Jason Taylor Tackles

I went onto Pro-Football Reference and got 777.
According to them he had 530 tackles and 247 Assisted Tackles.
I'm no math wiz but it seems they add to 777.

Even the Colts official website indicates that he has been released.

"Indianapolis has chosen not to exercise the contract option on quarterback Peyton Manning. The four-time MVP and 11-time Pro Bowl Manning is an unrestricted free agent". That's from the Colts official website. Can you clarify why you are maintaining that Peyton Manning has not be released, considering the official site says he is "an unrestricted free agent"? I found the source myself awhile ago. It was on the Chiefs' site. Their postseason media guide PDF said that he was #74 and Maneri was #68. The PR team just never updated the website. He probably still is #74. RevanFan (talk) 22:17, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

List of current UFC fighters

  • Nicknames: While I understand your point about listing Rampage as Quinton, this would break the consistency with which fighter names are listed in this article. All fighter names are taken from UFC.com profiles where available, to avoid confusion. This may seem silly in cases like Rampage Jackson, or Minotauro Nogueira, but consider Cheick Kongo, Tito Ortiz, Gleison Tibau, Frank Mir, Akira Corassani, Cub Swanson, or even fighters like Dongi Yang, or T.J. Waldburger (who's names are not necessarily exactly their given names). There are too many fighters using pseudonyms that most people don't realize to try and list them without a common system. Because of this all fighter names are taken from UFC.com. This may result in a few slightly controversial decisions, but it makes the overall process much easier.Thaddeus Venture (talk) 15:58, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
I understand that, but it doesn't address any of the points I mentioned, and I have no interest in changing the name of his personal wiki-article. His name here links directly to the article, so it should be relatively apparent to anyone clicking the link that Rampage Jackson and Quinton Jackson are the same person. We aren't really supposed to use other Wikipedia articles as sources for new ones, as such saying that his name is displayed this way or that on other pages isn't really helpful. Sources need to be cited, and as such the easiest and most consistent source for current UFC fighters to site is UFC.com. The best way I can explain it is if I were to create an article about the 2006-2007 Lakers and I wanted to get their roster I would, find a sports database, and use the names it provided as they would all be cite-able to that database. And they would probably give me William Henry Parker as "Smush" Parker. Now I realize that his wiki-article is under "Smush" Parker, but he may be listed differently on different pages, none the less I would use "Smush" because I could cite it easily along with the rest of the Lakers. In such circumstances I'm not really interested in how well the information I'm getting represents the entirety of a persons identity, only that it creates a consistent, cite-able format that I can use throughout the article. The same can be said of the UFC. It doesn't really matter how well each name, nationality, or nickname, totally represents a person, only that it is consistent throughout the article and it is all cite-able. To try and relieve any disambiguity I have listed people's names that are common nicknames as nicknames, i.e. Rampage Jackson's nickname is Rampage, to show that this is a nickname rather than a proper name. And I have added a note to the article to say that the names listed may include nicknames, partial names, or pseudonyms and that all names are taken directly from UFC.com. Unless you can think of a dramatically better way of doing this (which I would be happy to hear and consider, as I have been on the receiving end of many good pieces of advice since developing this article) then I hope that you may be swayed by my argument that a little bit of controversy is merely the price of consistency.Thaddeus Venture (talk) 15:39, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Phog Allen and List of Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball seasons

Rockchalk717, List of Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball seasons is part a rather fledgling set of articles that have yet to be sufficiently standardized. List of current UFC fighters

Just a heads up, as of UFC on Fox 4 the UFC has started using the English flag for English fighters, I'm personally very happy about this as the use of the Union Jack never made much sense in the first place. They only ever used it for english fighters and not any other fighters from the UK. But now they are using the english flag. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Alex Smith. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. Jeff Withey

Look, I don't have a huge issue with the conversion happening after he's drafted - especially if YOU commit to doing it in a timely manner at that point. It is a frequent occurance that these NCAA templates stay on for YEARS after a player completes their eligibility and starting to convert the 75-100 players who completed their eligibility after the season is a way that the Basketball projects (NBA, Basketball, College basketball) manage it. This isn't about Withey (or McLemore who is also on my conversion radar), it's become standard operarting procedure for basketball players - again because of past issues - and we are just working the lists. New articles about players who just completed their careers are created with the pro infobox and never have the NCAA template. I really don't agree the template has "too many holes" - it legitimately captures the players' HS and college careers, vitals and college achievements which encapsulates the career to date. The only thing missing is new club and draft info (where applicable). The NCAA template doesn't add a lot once the player's college career is over. Football handles it differently - but you also have to understand that it is a lot simpler - notable college players overwhelmingly will go to the NFL, where a group of editors are ready to work those articles and convert them. There are only two rounds of the NBA Draft - and literally hunderds of leagues around the world where these guys might play. It is difficult to manage and this is one way to do it. Rikster2 (talk) 16:14, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

I worry about all several thousand basketball articles, that's what I do. Like I said, if you'll take care of converting Withey and McLemore I won't worry about it. But there are plenty of college fans who will create/maintain player articles while the person is in school then abandon them because they lose interest post-NCAA. Rikster2 (talk) 13:08, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
I have a tip for you - don't take things personally. It's not like I looked at your profile and said "there is no way this guy will do the right thing." I edit thousands of articles, for every person like you there are 5 who drop the player once he leaves campus because they are onto the next group and aren't pro fans. This infobox conversion is a pretty standard thing, at this point anyone looking at these articles is looking at them as a draft prospect, not a college player. But it sounds like you will handle Withey and McLemore (right?). If so, I won't worry about them. Rikster2 (talk) 14:12, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Section headings (re: Chad Johnson (wide receiver))

Hi there, on the page I linked, WP:MOSHEAD, the following is present:

The provisions in Article titles (above) generally apply to section headings as well (for example, headings are in sentence case, not title case).

The referenced section, Article titles, states:

Use "sentence case", not "title case"; that is, the initial letter of a title is capitalized (except in rare cases, such as eBay), but otherwise, capital letters are used only where they would be used in a normal sentence (Funding of UNESCO projects, not Funding of UNESCO Projects).

This is a guideline that is often misunderstood, or not known, and correction of improperly-formatted section headings composes probably about 90% of my edits. It isn't the easiest cite to link people to, though. Ponydepression (talk) 02:49, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

The Hard Knocks article

We should come to an agreement on a status or alternative for the terminology section - I'm open to any and all suggestions. It was created only as an alternative to an anonymous user's dislike of parenthetical descriptions in the intro, but I'm more than happy to go back to that method if you'll support it. Otherwise, this is the best I could do. Obviously, readers of an encyclopedia are diverse, but many may not even know what U.S. or Canadian football is. As such, we need to be sure to describe any terms used heavily on the show or in articles about the show that are either not used or have different meanings outside of the football world. I look forward to working with you to make the article the very best it can be. (Please reply here, I have it watched.)

Infoboxes for college basketball players

College players now use Infobox:Basketball biography. We have decided to try it for the season as opposed to creating a new box (as college football did). You can take a look at the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College Basketball. I am letting you know because I noticed you had reverted the infoboxes for Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid and assumed you were not aware. Thanks. Rikster2 (talk) 02:21, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Chad Johnson

Hi. I've reverted your deletion, as you can see. It's more than just a workout, as reliable sources have also quoted GM Popp that some form of salary negotiations are underway. Even if he doesn't end up signing with the Alouettes, I believe that it's notable that he tried to revive his pro football career, in this way. Also, please discuss on the article talk page before blanking this content again, per WP:OWN. thank you, 19:17, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Recruit images

Thanks for rethinking the recruit images. Could you take a moment and help me decide which images to use for some players at Talk:2014_McDonald's_All-American_Boys_Game#Image_choices.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:50, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

WP:FULLNAME

Hi, thanks for your edits to en.Wikipedia but in regard to this edit please see discussion on Talk page. It is normal practice on 10,000s of Brazilian and Portuguese WP:BLP articles not to "Anglicize" their birth names in article leads - even if the subject later takes USA/GB etc nationality. This would be true even if the claim you made in an edit summary that the BLP subject deliberately anglicizes his name were the case. Birth names do not change when someone is resident in the USA for a few years. Please restore the lead of the article per WP:FULLNAME and other standard naming conventions and practice applicable to Brazilian living person biographies. Thanks again. Chiefs roster editing

Well sorry for trying to be accurate with the Chiefs player positions. They run a 3-4 defense and some of those guys project to be defensive ends. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.47.121.49 (talk) 08:09, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

Skye McCole Bartusiak

Just a heads-up: I have removed the "recent death" template from this page. The template page says it "should only be used in cases where many editors (perhaps dozens or more) are editing the article on the same day, and it should be removed as soon as the editing goes down to a normal level again. Do not use it merely to tag the article of a recently deceased person, as that would defeat the template's purpose." That kind of editing is not (yet) apparent. Cheers! —ATinySliver/ATalkPage 22:40, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Jeremy Lin update

Thanks for updating his article with his jersey number. As you presumably found this from a reliable source, may I suggest in the future that you provide the source's url to the edit summary as a convenience to others who monitor NBA bios for verifiability. As you know, editors frequently add incorrect numbers, as evidenced by the comment, <!--***DO NOT CHANGE without citing a source here or in the edit summary ***/-->, which you removed in your edit. I had to Google to verify your edit per https://twitter.com/Lakers/status/492361250941054977. Thanks again.—Bagumba (talk) 18:04, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

Not to belabor the point, but another editor eventually reverted you with reason "unsourced". I added back with source. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 18:31, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
