Florescence / Fluorescence
Hi there Rjwilmsi. Just to note, in a couple of your recent typo-fixing passes, AWB replaced "florescence" (meaning, state of being in bloom) with "fluorescence" (meaning, a type of innate luminosity), when it was the former which was intended. I fixed up a couple of those that were on my watchlist, but you may wish to go back through the others and see if that was what you really intended to do. Cheers, --cjllw ʘ TALK 05:10, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Oops, thanks. I've fixed the typo list, I'll have a look at which edits of mine were incorrect. Thanks Rjwilmsi (talk) 07:23, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've now fixed my incorrect edits. Rjwilmsi (talk) 08:02, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Thank You for fixing Good News!
Thank you, Rjwilmsi, for fixing my spelling errors in the Good News plot summary. I try to be pretty accurate with my grammar and punctuation, but my spelling is not particularly good. Thank you so much!MarianKroy (talk) 18:16, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Persistant is a word
Unfortunately, "persistant" is not always a misspelling. This has been "fixed" several times now on Upper ontology (information science). I've already tried to fix the list once before so that this would no longer be changed, but apparently there is another rule that makes this happen. Probably this is a typo most of the times, so instead of removing this fix, you could instead add any page containing "ontolog*" in its title to not fix this.
Thanks for your work though! László (talk) 13:17, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've removed the fix [1]. Thanks Rjwilmsi (talk) 17:34, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Could you please explain more fully?
Could you please explain more fully some edits you made.
If I am not mistaken it is generally considered a mistake to correct quoted material.
I believe the titles of articles, document, and other written material falls into the category of quoted material, and all of the instances where you converted the dates in titles to wikidates were a big mistake.
I'd like to ask you to please consider changing all such instances back the way you found them. Geo Swan (talk) 06:44, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'll happily revert any incorrect edits if you can tell me which ones you think are wrong. Thanks Rjwilmsi (talk) 07:11, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've reviewed my edits up until 20:44, 22 April 2008 and only this one and this other one seem at all questionable to me, and I don't see a problem with either of these as I don't think the date is actually the title of the work, it's a version, so changing the date format (the same date after all) makes no difference to me. Rjwilmsi (talk) 07:28, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've reviewed the rest. I don't see any other problems, except an issue with dates in wikilinks [2] which I'll fix (I think I already have, will check when at home). Rjwilmsi (talk) 09:01, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your help
- The official Wikiproject University of Florida thanks you for your contributions to University of Florida articles. Keep up the good work, and the UF Barnstar might be in your future. Jccort (talk) 14:39, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Eh, I assume you did not intend that your recent edit of Lamu made two pictures disappear? Regards, Huldra (talk) 15:14, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- My apologies, I hadn't intended that to happen and didn't notice. Thanks for fixing it for me Rjwilmsi (talk) 20:18, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
editing photo names not appreciated
Your edit here is not helpful in my view. Stripping underline characters out of photo names does not help, it makes it easier for editing to lose the connection to the photo. The one other typo fix "helps" but would have been found and fixed anyhow, it is not worth an edit causing me and other editors to revisit the page. I don't know how to communicate to whoever writes AWB that the photo name changing is not helpful, so I am informing you. Please pass it on if you agree. doncram (talk) 21:12, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Doesn't the previous comment about Lamu above, suggest to you that editing photo names screws things up sometimes? doncram (talk) 21:14, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- To clarify: the above was a genuine mistake on my part due to fixes specific to me. I'll be changing the fixes to avoid that error again. Secondly, your comment: replacing underscores in image names is one of the general fixes made by AWB. If you think this is incorrect, please file a bug report on the bug page with a justification. I have to say that I disagree with your statement that it's not worth fixing a typo on a page due to the need for editors to review. I think fixing typos is a valid undertaking, which improves the article and Wikipedia in general, and justifies edits. Rjwilmsi (talk) 21:32, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
