Sorry, just curious as I have no idea about this haha, am just a big fan of crocodiles lol. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by ReptilianZone (talkcontribs) 05:11, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

Comment: The expression "conflict of interest" in my reply refers to the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest policy. Luis150902 (talk | contribs) 18:44, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Luis150902/rescue/11122c70-acc4-11e6-9598-0800200c9a66

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Luis150902/rescue/11122c70-acc4-11e6-9598-0800200c9a66 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://ausdroid.net/about-ausdroid/staff/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi Luis! Thanks for your message on my talk page. You asked me to

> creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

The screenshot is actually created by me. Is there a way I can indicate that to wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zimzamyap (talkcontribs) 10:36, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

"Own work" is only useful for an image if it is licensed under a free license, and it is illegal to license the image you uploaded under a free license. I tagged your image because a substitute that has the same encyclopedic purpose can be created and legally published on Wikipedia under a free license. Content that is licensed under a non-free license should meet all non-free content criteria, particularly the first, that is that no image that is, or can be, legally licensed under a free license can be found or created that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose. You can create the replacement by using a free software browser instead of Chrome and doing the same you did for the screenshot you published. Luis150902 (talk | contribs) 15:12, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
Would you like to try that again, this time giving Zimzamyap the correct advice ? Nick (talk) 15:31, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
"it is illegal to license the image you uploaded under a free license" where and since when it is illegal to license a screenshot under a CC license? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zimzamyap (talkcontribs) 14:26, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
It has always been illegal to release screenshots of proprietary software under CC licenses, as that would violate the copyright of the owner of the software. Luis150902 (talk | contribs) 17:10, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – April 2017

News and updates for administrators from the past month (March 2017).

  Administrator changes

  TheDJ
  XnualaCJOldelpasoBerean HunterJimbo WalesAndrew cKaranacsModemacScott

  Guideline and policy news

  • Following a discussion on the backlog of unpatrolled files, consensus was found to create a new user right for autopatrolling file uploads. Implementation progress can be tracked on Phabricator.
  • The BLPPROD grandfather clause, which stated that unreferenced biographies of living persons were only eligible for proposed deletion if they were created after March 18, 2010, has been removed following an RfC.
  • An RfC has closed with consensus to allow proposed deletion of files. The implementation process is ongoing.
  • After an unsuccessful proposal to automatically grant IP block exemption, consensus was found to relax the criteria for granting the user right from needing it to wanting it.

  Technical news

  • After a recent RfC, moved pages will soon be featured in a queue similar to Special:NewPagesFeed and require patrolling. Moves by administrators, page movers, and autopatrolled editors will be automatically marked as patrolled.
  • Cookie blocks have been deployed. This extends the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user if they switch accounts, even under a new IP.

Thirty-fifth government of Israel

Hello. I think you have misunderstood something here. My rationale for prodding the article was that whilst we do allow articles on future elections as forthcoming events (and I have created many myself), this is not an article about an upcoming election – it's an article on what might happen after that, and for which we have literally zero information. Would you mind reinstating the prod? Cheers, Number 57 23:04, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

You are not an administrator. You cannot decline a request for protection. I reverted your decline. Don't do it again.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:25, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I haven't seen the edit in question, but doesn't Wikipedia:Non-admin closure apply foe RfP as well, a long as no action is to be taken by the closing user? (tJosve05a (c) 20:40, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
Josve05a, it's the auto-archiving that becomes an issue. All it takes is someone to decline a request that should be enacted and it's gone in about 20 minutes. Primefac (talk) 21:10, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

You might wanna actually dig into the background of the issue before you randomly revert and accuse one of doing disruptive editing. In case you didn't actually see it, this user has been IP-hopping and reverting several users now. --HistoryofIran (talk) 14:25, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
