Welcome!

edit
Some cookies to welcome you! :D
Welcome to Wikipedia, Reallysmartgrammarwiz! I am Thehelpfulone and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing helpme at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place helpme on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

Don't mind the double welcome, just I like to give users this one sometimes! :) I was going to welcome you but I was beaten to it! --The Helpful One 18:42, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Helpme Request

edit

helpme What are portals, and how do I make one?

Hi there, please see Wikipedia:Portal for more information. --The Helpful One 18:35, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi there! As Thehelpfulone said, WP:P contains all the necessary information. However, please remember to make sure the portal you'd like to create doesn't already exist by searching Portal:Contents/Portals and Wikipedia:Portal/Directory. Thank you, and I hope that helps! Thank You Both So Much!

Note about templates

edit
Hey there! I noticed your contribution at Juno234631's talk page and saw that you had transcluded a template when you meant to just mention it. To avoid transcluding templates (that is, to avoid using them) whenever you'd like to show them to another user, just use this code;
template
. This will neutralize the template and instead make it a clickable link. For example, helpme. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! 19:40, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, it's all good now. Also, remember to sign your edits! Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! 19:48, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hey there, no need to apologize! You haven't done anything horrible, signing just makes it easier for people to know who said what. Also, I was just nominated today for adminship. Thanks for the recommendation though!
In regards to my userpage, basically that is a bunch of tables and borders arranged together to look mildly cool. Master of Puppets Call me MoP! 20:00, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Question

edit

Hi there,

If you mean by a border, I can add that for you, if you want a navigational banner, I can also add that for you. Leave a message on my talk page and tell me what you would like :)

--The Helpful One 19:56, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, please see User:Thehelpfulone/Navbox and tell me which one you would like :) --The Helpful One 20:04, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, If you would please remove it from your pages from now, until I get it so that you can create it easily? That way I will be able to do yours and future people's to come at the same time? Thanks, --The Helpful One 20:18, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I see you have figured it out... I have add it to User:Reallysmartgrammarwiz/CurrentNavBox so you just need to add to the top of the pages now! --The Helpful One 20:29, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

re: What do you mean by this

edit

Well, instead of copying/pasting the welcoming templates, Wikipedia users have made a series of scripts that works with Firefox by adding scripts to a browser template called monobook.js. It can be reached by clicking this link: Special:Mypage/monobook.js. When you edit your own monobook.js, only you can edit it, no one else, except admins and higher.

To enable it: you can follow the instructions below:

  1. copy the text below and paste it into the bottom of your monobook.js file:
    importScript('User:Ioeth/friendly.js');
  1. save the new monobook.js page, and
  2. completely refresh your browser by bypassing your cache (hit Control-Shift-R in Firefox).

For the welcome functionality, add:

importScript('User:AzaToth/morebits.js');
importScript('User:Ioeth/friendlywelcome.js');

For the shared IP tagging functionality, add:

importScript('User:AzaToth/morebits.js');
importScript('User:Ioeth/friendlyshared.js');

For the tagging functionality, add:

importScript('User:AzaToth/morebits.js');
importScript('User:Ioeth/friendlytag.js');

  1. save the new monobook.js page, and
  2. completely refresh your browser by bypassing your cache (hit Control-Shift-R in Firefox).

Then you're all set!

Hope i helped you! --Party!Talk to me! 21:49, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Instead of copying or typing templates, scripts can do it much faster and efficiently :) --Party!Talk to me! 22:11, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Protection for your userpage

edit

I've went ahead and semi-protected your userpage, per your request at Requests for page protection. However, I wanted to point out something. You stated that anonymous users might vandalize your page, which is however true, but you will always be able to see who has edited your userpage (or any page for that matter), by checking the pages history (by clicking the "history" tab at the top). Anonymous users who edit a page are identified by their IP Address.

Anyhow, I've protected it indefinitely since you did not specify a requested time. Users are entitled to have their userpage semi-protected, as it is stated in our protection policy. If you would like your userpage unprotected, you're welcome to contact me via my talk page, contact any other administrator, or add a request to Current Requests for unprotection. Thanks - Rjd0060 (talk) 22:53, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello!

edit

Glad i helped you!

Here's another script! It's called Twinkle!

Installation

edit

To install all TWINKLE modules, including all future updates and additions:

  1. Copy the text below and paste it into the bottom of your monobook.js file:
    importScript('User:AzaToth/twinkle.js');
  2. Save the new monobook.js page, and
  3. Completely refresh your browser by bypassing your cache (Firefox: Control-Shift-R / Firefox Mac: Command-Shift-R / Explorer: Control-F5)
  4. Done!

You may wish to re-configure TWINKLE's default settings. See the documentation for instructions.

Documentation & configuration

edit

Before you start using Twinkle you really should read its documentation to familiarize yourself with some of the possibilities and functions of Twinkle. There is also a multitude of options that you can configure to change some of the default behaviours of Twinkle. Never forget that you take full responsibility for any action performed using Twinkle. You must understand Wikipedia policies and use this tool within these policies, or risk being blocked.

Your Signature and Answer to Question

edit

Hi there,

The answer to your question is no, there is no policy against adding that box. However I would advise against adding it, as it tricks users, especially newcomers, and if you ever want to be an administrator, it might come up as an issue in your RFA. It is also extremely annoying for all users, which is probably why that user removed it!

Also just to let you know, your signature has a broken link.

Currently, it is: <FONT SIZE="+1" COLOR="orange">Smart Guy (talk) (Sign)</FONT>

However, your talk page link is talk however it should be talk. (Note space between User and talk).

I hope this helps and have a nice day!

I have no problem with this but you accidentally signed my guestbook twice. Just a notice. Chubbennaitor 13:00, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

No. I already said I wasn't bothered just pointing it out to u. Chubbennaitor 16:31, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Signing

edit

Since that was your second signing of my guestbook, and since the account which signed before is owned by you, you get no barnstar. I might also report the sockpuppetry. Jack?! 15:24, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
