Your recent changes on the lead of Akshay Kumar go against the consensed version which was agreed upon on the talk page. You are thus requested to use the article's talk page and discuss the changes you want to make, which includes removal of information (it's not redundant information, as you said) and copyedits which result in sentences which don't read well. This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. Your recent edits on Madhuri Dixit

edit

Hi! You are hereby requested to stop edit warring and using journalistic language on BLP articles. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a fansite, not a film magazine. The article's lead should stand as it is, and if you have ideas about how it should poissibly be written, you should use the talk page. ShahidTalk2me 17:46, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi again, I must let you know that what you did on Hrithik Roshan was what could perfectly classify as disruptive editing. You've massively deleted entire parts which are not only perfectly sourced but have actually been accepted by the community (the page is a featured article). I think it was tremendously pointy on your part, so please do not do it again. Use the talk pages to discuss content and offer your suggestions. Thank you, ShahidTalk2me 12:04, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Dear friend, you are hereby requested to discuss your suggested additions on Talk:Madhuri Dixit. No further changes to the lead should be made. ShahidTalk2me 12:09, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
For the record, it's not a matter of sourcing - your sources are reliable but no high quality. Secondly, it's never just about sources but WP:DUE and WP:NOT - we all know that Dixit is indeed a huge star and film icon. There should be other ways to express it on her article, not by using "influential". ShahidTalk2me 12:14, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Shshshsh she is undoubtedly an influential actress, Don't know what kind of other so called strong source you need more. She is probably the most popular and influential actress since 80s with Sridevi. Rahil1610 (talk) 14:06, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Rahil1610: Of course she is influential, but that's not the language we use on Wikipedia. ShahidTalk2me 15:17, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Shshshsh what language we use then?? go and Aishwarya Rai page and see then. Rahil1610 (talk) 10:10, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Rahil1610: Please see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. The fact that other articles aren't good, doesn't mean we have to replicate their poor quality. I've changed Rai's article, anyway. ShahidTalk2me 14:33, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Shshshsh well ok. i have edited dixit's page as per her popularity and reception Rahil1610 (talk) 15:36, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Rahil1610: I'vr edited it myself now. "Accormplished" is even worse, by the way - it's blatant POV. ShahidTalk2me 15:40, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
There it is, please respect the editing process now, and if you want to suggest changes, use the talk page. I think the current version is the best one so far. ShahidTalk2me 15:44, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Are you kidding? Are you up again with all that influential fancruft? You are asked again to kindly use the talk page and stop adding it on the page. Please consider it a warning. I'm trying to be nice but this is too much. ShahidTalk2me 15:48, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Shshshsh what's ur problem when those lines are already added in many places???? I know you are very senior editor but doesn't mean you are always right. influential word has been added in many persons page. it's not new things you have known I think. does it kind of ur personal hate just for dixit ? Rahil1610 (talk) 15:51, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Rahil1610: We do not use this word, I've explained why, and you're welcome to read WP:NOT and WP:PUFFERY. If you want to add it, use Talk:Madhuri Dixit for discussion, and please spare me this "hate" nonsense used by fans. Please do not edit the lead until discussion is used to reach consensus. For now, I've added a part based on sources. ShahidTalk2me 15:54, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Shshshsh she is not going the first person to gain influential word in the lead. so what is the problem. or is it ur ego that is why u don't let other user add the words according to her status. Rahil1610 (talk) 15:58, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
As I said, please read WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. If other pages have film magazine language, it doesn't mean this one should. For the record, I've removed this part for Aishwarya's article.
I've added a factual sentence on Madhuri Dixit's and it is the following one:
"Noted by critics for her beauty, dancing skills, and characters, Dixit attained nationwide stardom that was often singled out for allowing her to lead star vehicles and was said to challenge her male contemporaries."
It's more than enough, and if you want to keep discussing it, please use the talk page. Now, accusations of "ego" are considered to be a personal attack. Please don't do it, read WP:NPA. ShahidTalk2me 16:02, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Also, what you did on Tabu's page is pointy behaviour which won't be accepted and is considered disruptive. You don't get to go and change articles' leads based on disagreements on other ones. ShahidTalk2me 16:10, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Shshshsh Baseless explanation. Just for not adding influential word in Madhuri's lead, you removed Rai's page too. but then you don't want to add accomplished also. when i removed accomplished from Tabu page then you gave another excuse. You are just being biased. Do whatever you want. Keep ur hate and biasedness Rahil1610 (talk) 16:44, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Rahil1610: Dixit is a superstar, Tabu is known to be an actress, who has won two National Film Awards. They are not appreciated equally in terms of acting. Dixit's stardom is now well-expressed in her page, with professional and encyclopedic language:
"Noted by critics for her beauty, dancing skills, and characters, Dixit attained nationwide stardom that was often singled out for allowing her to lead star vehicles and was said to challenge her male contemporaries."
As I said, accusing people of hating and being biased is a personal attack. Please refrain from making such accusations which are baseless and unaccepted. Discuss content, not people. I've been very nice to you so far, please alter your conduct and respect people. I'm writing to you detailed messages and making my best to explain how the process works.
If you have any other thing you want to discuss regarding either Dixit or anyone else, please use their talk pages and reach consensus. Wikipedia is free for editing, but not for contentious additions like those you've added. ShahidTalk2me 16:53, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Shshshsh Will you say Stanley Kubrick who never won oscars isn't greatest and most influential film directors??? Awards don't define any one's greatness and credibility to be good in their field . Rahil1610 (talk) 03:05, 6 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Rahil1610: True, but it was just an example. I didn't say Tabu is influential, but strictly in terms of acting she is more highly regarded than Dixit, and I think you know that. It's like comparing Shabana Azmi to Hema Malini. Dixit is a superstar, an icon, and indeed, influential. It's just that we do not use such words since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a film magazine. In my opinion, Dixit is also a very good actress, and she's one of my favourites, but she is acknowledged more as a star. I wrote it, she "attained nationwide stardom that was often singled out for allowing her to lead star vehicles and was said to challenge her male contemporaries". It shows exactly how strong and influential she was. And just as I suggested - you have other ideas for the lead? Use the talk page. ShahidTalk2me 10:22, 6 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Rahil1610! Your additions to Amitabh Bachchan have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 16:01, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

You are removing "Social democrat" without explanation.

There is no need to put "political leader" on lead because the wording like "anti-colonial nationalist", "statesman", "central figure in India during the middle of the 20th century" already define him well enough. Aman Kumar Goel (Talk) 16:12, 25 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Whether he is 'popular' etc. is completely immaterial. Party officials are not inherently notable, whereas MLAs and other elected state-level legislators are.
Besides, this is just pure spam, and has been created over and over under different names so many times that most of the name variants are now protected. Which I expect you know, since you went for this 'Annamalai K' variant. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:59, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Pankaj Tripathi filmography into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also.   Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Allahabad Chheoki Junction railway station a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. — DaxServer (t · m · e · c) 10:24, 13 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Prayagraj. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. -- Toddy1 (talk) 15:13, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Rahil1610! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Allahabad High Court that may not have been. Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Varanasi

edit

You have made 6 edits to Varanasi and all are in the nature of reverts and all were made this year.

I have made 127 edits beginning in 2021. I have written every sentence of the lead. Please be warned that facilely edit-warring with longstanding, competent, edits could lead to penalties.

This is not to assert that I am infallible, but I have written most of the FA India. I know a thing or two about Hinduism. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 10:55, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Exactly as you say, you know only one or two things about Hinduism. For your knowledge, Varanasi is place like Jerusalem and Mecca for Hindus, it is considered a Holi city for Hinduism throughout the world and popularly known as Kāshi. About city's other factors are should have mentioned in below as i have done. I haven't removed anything, i just sorted according to the importance of matters.:) Rahil1610 (talk) 11:10, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing from certain pages (Sengol) for a period of 24 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text at the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  ~ ToBeFree (talk) 11:48, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Notice that you are now subject to an arbitration enforcement sanction

edit

The following sanction now applies to you:

You are topic banned from India, broadly construed, until 31 August 2023, 23:59 UTC.

You have been sanctioned for persistently editing disruptively in this area, leading to many warnings by other users above and the edit warring block now. You seem to be disruptively rejecting community concerns when they are voiced, and instead of just blocking you from all pages, I'd like to offer you the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to edit peacefully outside of this contentious area during the next three months.

This sanction is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator under the authority of the Arbitration Committee's decision at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/India-Pakistan#Final decision and, if applicable, the contentious topics procedure. This sanction has been recorded in the log of sanctions. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction using the process described here. I recommend that you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template if you wish to submit an appeal to the arbitration enforcement noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 12:03, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@ToBeFree I always edit and add anything reliable sources. before blocking me, i should have been given a warning and about my mistakes. I have done more than 900 edits. i am not a new here. I know the rules. So please make me unblock. I will try to never violate the rules. Rahil1610 (talk) 14:02, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Rahil1610,
You had been informed twice ([2], [3]) about a need to "strictly follow Wikipedia's policies" (notification 1) and to "edit carefully and constructively" (notification 2) in this topic area.
You have been warned at least 19 times (by a quick count) above by other contributors about possible issues with your editing. This includes at least two warnings about the policy against edit warring. The latest concern voiced above was met with incivility in Special:Diff/1157405786.
I thus have no reason to believe that you should have been given additional warnings or would suddenly start understanding "the rules" if you received yet another warning. It rather seems that the description provided at WP:DISRUPTSIGNS fits your editing in this area, and that a break from editing about India for three months is beneficial both to you and the community.
Again, this restriction is an alternative to a block from all editing. Something had to be done and I hope you can agree that a block would offer less opportunities than this topic-specific ban to demonstrate that you can edit peacefully without turning Wikipedia into a battleground. Please take the opportunity, slowly and carefully, instead of viewing it as something that necessarily has to be appealed.
Still, if you do insist that this is not an appropriate sanction, do feel free to appeal to the community at WP:AN.
Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:27, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@ToBeFree ok i apologise for whatever you say. But atleast reduce the block period. I will try my best onwards. Block period is too long. It would be ok for 1 week 2 week or 1 month. i am a regular user and editor. Rahil1610 (talk) 14:31, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
If the duration was shorter, I'm afraid you might just wait until it expires, to continue editing in exactly the same way as you did before. Three months hopefully provide enough time to become interested in editing about something else rather than just waiting. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:33, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@ToBeFree no, i am not a some kid. these warnings are enough. reduce please. Well i always provide reliable sources before editing and that's how i am being treated as i am new here with some 100 edits :( Rahil1610 (talk) 14:36, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I understand the desire for a shorter topic ban duration. If I was in your situation, I might well desire the same. However, I think that you currently lack arguments for your request. If you requested an unban after a month of productive, helpful editing, the situation would be different.
That said, I personally think that three months are a fine duration, and I'm unlikely to shorten it even if you ask after a month. The ban automatically expires, so it is hard to find arguments for removing it manually. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:48, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@ToBeFree 1 month block is also fine. but three is too long. Well, this is my last message and request to you reduce it to 1 month only. :( Thanks 👍 Rahil1610 (talk) 15:11, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

These all are small mistakes which can be sorted out and i always mentioned the reason of all changed almost. It's not something i did it without mentioning the cause. Rahil1610 (talk) 14:28, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Iamrajdeepdas, I have fixed the indentation of your message above. None of the edits you are referring to appear to be malicious, and "to increase edit counts" lacks evidence. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:37, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Edit conflict: I have also removed your additional warning as it lacks a proper description of an actual reason. If possible, I'd ask you to stop writing similar warnings as they are likely to confuse their recipients. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:37, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@ToBeFree I issued only one warning to this recipient. Iamrajdeepdas (talk) 14:39, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Iamrajdeepdas, I count two, the second being [4] ("Repeating this will cause your account suspension"). You may not have called it a warning, but it is a warning. I understand that you're trying to help, but you're currently not helping; please avoid sending further similar warnings at least to Rahil1610. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:42, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@ToBeFree Block me forever. People in group are coming to tell me the rules. junior user like iamrajdeepdas who has done half of me are now preaching me about it. I am done here. well done. just suspend me now. Rahil1610 (talk) 14:48, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I am relatively sure that Iamrajdeepdas's messages have just been badly timed, coincidentally. I'd be surprised if this had been in response to your ban.
I understand the feeling, but:
  • The ban will expire, automatically.
  • Your thoughts will probably be more positive tomorrow.
It's too early to throw Wikipedia away entirely, I think. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:52, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@ToBeFree I I should not only be suspended but also jailed too for my epic crimes here. I was fond of wikipedia till now but no more. Bye Thankyou:| Rahil1610 (talk) 15:00, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Rahil, I would suggest that instead of reacting in the moment, you take the day/night off, gain some distance, and then return. Fwiw, I believe ToBeFree's sanction was both justified and well-calibrated. But I also see that you can be a productive editor on wikipedia (including, in India-related topic areas) if you slow down and rein in some bad habits/instincts. Feel free to ping me later if you wish to discuss this any further. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 15:19, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Understanding what topic banning is

edit

I presume you did not understand what a topic ban is [5] [6]. In simple words, you are not allowed to edit anything related to what you are banned from. In your case, anything and everything related to India, until the end of August. cc @ToBeFreeDaxServer (t · m · e · c) 19:02, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks DaxServer. ^ True. I'm sure Rahil1610 either didn't know or somehow wanted to see what happens, neither of which happened with actual malice. I have reverted these contributions. As WP:BANREVERT describes, such edits may be undone by anyone, and they can of course lead to a block from editing. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:20, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have additionally reverted [7] and [8] as the topic ban is "broadly construed" and these topics are clearly related to India. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:25, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for continued violations of your topic-ban from "India, broadly construed, until 31 August 2023, 23:59 UTC".
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text at the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Abecedare (talk) 13:57, 29 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Abecedare suspend me forever Rahil1610 (talk) 14:02, 29 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Rahil1610:: Currently you retain access to your talk-page with the hope that you may still choose a more productive way forward but if you continue to abuse that privilege, your access to this page will be rescinded too.

@ToBeFree:: Feel free to modify the above block in any way you see fit. Abecedare (talk) 14:04, 29 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Abecedare, looks fine to me.
Rahil1610, I've tried to offer something else than the block that has been placed now, but I can understand that you are currently not interested in contributing to India-unrelated topics and thus see no reason to continue editing at all. If this ever changes, please let me know ({{ping|ToBeFree}}~~~~). ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:10, 29 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
