Russbot

Hi,

I recently found a hatnote with a target link to a page (e.g. "somebody (politician)") when there was in fact a dab at the basename. I just changed this manually to "somebody (disambiguation)". I wonder how many more of these there may be. Have you ever considered this. I'm not sure the bot could fix these, as the best fix might be changing the hatnote template (e.g. {{for}} to {{other people}}. But the bot has hatnote parsing code; maybe it could look for links that have "(disambiguator)" and then check if there is a corresponding "(disambiguation)" page. If it found one, it could add the article to a maintenance cat for human attention. This may not be that well thought out (maybe this is so rare it's not worth any effort), but what do you think? I'll think about it, but I agree with you that it's not a fix that can be done automatically. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 01:18, 4 March 2022 (UTC)

mail

Hi. I apologise, I think I found one of my errors (I think there are at least two), I will work on it, and I will send you an updated email. Kindly partially disregard my previous email. Sorry again, —usernamekiran (talk) 16:40, 5 March 2022 (UTC)

The updated email has been sent. —usernamekiran (talk) 16:56, 5 March 2022 (UTC)

Orphaned Templates Report

Hey, R'n'B, I was wondering since we last spoke about your old orphaned templates report, is it okay if I update the 28 pages in my spare time? And if a page is filled with red links. Should I inform you here on your talk page or through the edit summary for you to speedy delete it? --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 22:21, 4 March 2022 (UTC)

Be my guest. Edit summary should be fine. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 11:53, 5 March 2022 (UTC)

Good news. All 28 pages can be deleted. All the deleted and used templates have been removed from your report. You can now speedy delete them. Glad I could help. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 02:51, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

  • Access to Special:RevisionDelete has been expanded to include users who have the deletelogentry and deletedhistory rights. This means that those in the Researcher user group and Checkusers who are not administrators can now access Special:RevisionDelete. The users able to view the special page after this change are the 3 users in the Researcher group, as there are currently no checkusers who are not already administrators. (T301928)
  • When viewing deleted revisions or diffs on Special:Undelete a back link to the undelete page for the associated page is now present. (T284114)

New administrator activity requirement

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
  2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

James Riordan

Hi R'n'B, Are you planning on starting the James Riordan (biographer) article and adding it to the James Riordan disambig page? If so, may I suggest a broader title? Looking at Riordan's website, it seems he writes in a number of other genres in addition to biographies. - CorbieVreccan 17:52, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
