Speedy deletion nomination of User:Cacicamedia edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Cacicamedia, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — Tulsi Bhagat (contribs | talk) 06:13, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Contested deletion edit

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (the information is factual, and is not blatantly promotional nor intended to solicit any business. I am new to Wikipedia and am still in the process of editing the content) --Cacicamedia (talk) 06:31, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Cacicamedia. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – Athaenara 06:36, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Request reason:

I was not attempting to promote anything. I am new to Wikipedia and I was in the process of trying to edit the content so that I could comply with the rules of the Wikipedia community when I was blocked. I would respectfully request being unblocked so that I am allowed to make edits. Cacicamedia (talk) 06:51, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Maybe you thought you weren't being promotional, but with content like "As consultants for businesses, startups and entrepreneurs in today’s global and digitized media and entertainment industries, CACICA indicates that its consultants strive to stay abreast of and anticipate advances or changes in technology, business modeling, media buying, event production, politics and law, or any other field that might impact their clients", it's clear that you were promoting your company. You were also editing your user page(it has "User:" in the title), which is not article space, but a place to introduce yourself to the Wikipedia community in the context of your Wikipedia use. Please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a place for companies to merely tell about themselves. Please review conflict of interest and paid editing. You won't be unblocked to edit about your company; if you want to be an individual contributor and edit about subjects unrelated to your conflict of interest, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. The blocking administrator did not mention this, but you will also need to propose a new username. I will provide instructions on how to do that as part of an unblock request below(it will appear to be that you were blocked again, but this is not the case) 331dot (talk) 07:03, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia has articles about subjects shown with independent reliable sources with significant coverage to meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability(in this case, that of a notable organization. Wikipedia is not interested in what a subject wants to say about itself. If you are just here to tell the world about your company, you will not be unblocked, and should consider social media, your own website, or other alternative forums where what you want to do is permitted. If you want to be a general contributor, please proceed as I state above. 331dot (talk) 07:03, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

September 2019 edit

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. 331dot (talk) 07:04, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

I realize that the language used looked promotional, but I did not intend to promote anything. I honestly was under the impression that I had to provide a description for the user name I had selected; the word "user" came up automatically when I was creating the account name, which was the only reason why "user" was part of the name. I am not trying to promote my consulting company and have no problem not using the company name or writing about the company at all. I actually want to write articles about scholarly topics currently being researched about Black optimism and group disparities as well as research about the correlations among fake news, offensive content, social TV second screen use, ratings, buzz and engagement rates on social media and the different impacts that they are having on outgroups like African Americans, Latinos, Asians, Women, Religious Groups, LGBTQIA+, Disabled Groups. Etc. Cacicamedia (talk) 07:37, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Accept reason:

The new username is acceptable, and since you've said you won't write about your company on Wikipedia any more I don't see a good reason to leave the block in place. Welcome back. I would recommend that you have a read of the guidance for contributors with subject expertise, as Wikipedia works quite differently to the academic environment with which you're familiar; after that, feel free to edit. Just trying to find out if administrators have had time to consider my request to unblock my account and allow me to post content regarding scholarly topics under the new requested username profkvela which I discussed in my previous post. For sake of clarity and information, the name is based on my role in academia; I have been researching these topics for years and have been an adjunct professor for 17 years. Many of these topics are missing critical aspects of research that has been done, need to be updated or are completely absent from Wikipedia. I thank you for your consideration of my request Cacicamedia (talk) 20:37, 3 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your unblock request is in the queue, and will be evaluated by administrators and global renamers. There aren't very many renamers that work requests from blocked users, so it may be some time before your request is reviewed. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 02:19, 4 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
