editNew Page Patrol December Newsletter
editHello Tulsi,
- Year in review
It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.
Rank | Username | Num reviews | Log |
---|---|---|---|
1 | DannyS712 bot III (talk) | 67,552 | Patrol Page Curation |
2 | Rosguill (talk) | 63,821 | Patrol Page Curation |
3 | John B123 (talk) | 21,697 | Patrol Page Curation |
4 | Onel5969 (talk) | 19,879 | Patrol Page Curation |
5 | JTtheOG (talk) | 12,901 | Patrol Page Curation |
6 | Mcampany (talk) | 9,103 | Patrol Page Curation |
7 | DragonflySixtyseven (talk) | 6,401 | Patrol Page Curation |
8 | Mccapra (talk) | 4,918 | Patrol Page Curation |
9 | Hughesdarren (talk) | 4,520 | Patrol Page Curation |
10 | Utopes (talk) | 3,958 | Patrol Page Curation |
- Reviewer of the Year
John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.
- NPP Technical Achievement Award
As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

Your draft article, Draft:Online Khabar
editHello, Tulsi Bhagat. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Online Khabar".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply and remove the {{db-afc}}
, {{db-draft}}
, or {{db-g13}}
code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 18:21, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
Hello Tulsi,
Since the previous removal of your global rollback rights involved your English Wikipedia activity, I felt the need to notify English Wikipedia people as well. The notification was made via WP:AN.

New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021
editHello Tulsi,
Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.
Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.
At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.
There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.
Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.
To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here. Sent to 827 users. 04:33, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for creating Kiran Kumari Rae.

According to the references the surname is spelled Rai, or is this a translation issue? Regards

- @Hughesdarren: I think it's an alternative. Sometimes it is written as Rae, Ray or Rai, people choices you know. I've created it as per the Wikidata item, Kiran Kumari Rae (Q67915184). Kind regards, — Tulsi 24x7 09:58, 16 July 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Upendra Mahato (disambiguation)
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Upendra Mahato (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
- disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
- is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion declined: User:Halalguy
editHello Tulsi. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Halalguy, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not a blatant misuse of Wikipedia as a webhost. Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 12:15, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Shirt58: The user has no significant edit on Wikipedia and their userpage has a promotional link to Biography Radar. Also, Userpage has information related nothing to Wikipedia, so Could you please advice how it is 'Not a blatant misuse of Wikipedia as a webhost'? Kind regards, — Tulsi 24x7 12:29, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- WP:ROPE, WP:BITE and de minimis non curat lex would all appear to apply here. Peter in Australia aka --Shirt58 (talk) 10:56, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Shirt58: WP:ROPE is an essay on the blocking policy (I have not requested any block). WP:BITE is mainly concerned about edits on mainspace and not userspace. No comment for de minimis non curat lex because Its neither a policy nor an essay. I believe all three you pointed doesn't appear to apply here. All what apply is WP:NOTWEBHOST and WP:U5. With this, I feel it should be deleted instead. Thank you for your understanding. — Tulsi 24x7 11:42, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

- @Fade258: Would you care to explain what sort of references (included in the draft) you find not in-depth, unreliable, not secondary and not independent of the subject? Kantipur, Nagarik News, Himal Khabar or RASTRIYA SAMACHAR SAMITI are not reliable? Tulsi 24x7 14:46, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hello Tulsi, First of all, that was an automated message of declined reason which I choose while declining this draft. - Hi @Fade258: Thank you for your response. I couldn't understand you, "...have significant coverage but coverage is not much sufficient". I have added 10 references, each sentence is verifiable by the cited reliable sources. Generally, three references are required for the draft to be moved to mainspace. It has more than three. - @Tulsi:, I've re-checked the mentioned references and found good ref. i.e Kantipur, Online khabar, Himal khabar, Nagarik news, Nepal Live etc, these all are reliable and independent but I found that ekagaj is not quite reliable as I think that this news portal has been running by two or more people and editorial content is not much good. It's all good now and you can re-submit this draft. Thank you! Fade258 (talk) 05:57, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Fade258: You said, it has good references then what is the point of declining the draft? Tulsi 24x7 07:35, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

Unblock request

Request reason:
Respected admins, I understand my behaviors were problematic and deceptive. I apologies for those. On 3rd of April 2024, Rosguill blocked my account for the concern undisclosed paid editing with relate to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive361 § DIVINE and Tulsi: COI/UPE/quid-pro-quo editing, association with threats and harassment, but in fact I have no serious involvement in it except for a bit of minor past interactions. Honestly, I have never written any article for payments. I don't support paid editing. The issue which I am accused of was back in 2020 or 2021 and before. For which, I admitted and disclosed the COI with live articles on their respective talk pages. Discussions took place and my globally & locally associated rights were removed, but the block was not placed at that time. Most of the articles were deleted and buried so I didn't find it useful to disclose anything anywhere. I don't prefer to create or edit on any COI article now and in future. However, if someone forces me to create an article then I definitely do a disclosure on article talk page and which go through a review. See a decent example I did on Talk:Ghero. I respect Rosguill's decision to block my account after 2 years of the incident which is still relevant. However, I understand a block is not a punishment, but a way to prevent further disruption. Since the past incidents, I am evolved by the time and lessons learned as well. Reviewing my last 2 years of contributions here, you could find I have created over 80 articles. There are no issues of any undisclosed (paid editing/COI). Apart from creating articles, I had a time in patrolling, see Twinkle log, Draftify log and had reported several usernames at WP:UAA for violation. I am into this hard time because I was not much into reading policies back then. To a great extent to acknowledgment about the policies, the issue is not persistent. I am a globally established user active since Oct. 2014. I have been active on other several projects contributed tirelessly supporting the vision of free access to the sum of all human knowledge. Till date, I have been entrusted with serving as a sysop on Wikimedia Commons, Meta-Wiki, MediaWiki, Maithili and Nepali Wikipedia. What motivates me for placing an unblock request today is that I came across vandalism/unconstructive edits on the article Balen Shah. The unconstructive edits exist since 27 May 2024 and I couldn't revert it. I pledge to contributing abide by the established policies. I would be glad to answer the questions you may have. Sincerely, I humbly urge to request for an unblock here on English Wikipedia. Kind regards, Tulsi 24x7 13:59, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action, or you have not responded to questions raised during that time. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that
- the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
- the block is no longer necessary because you
- understand what you have been blocked for,
- will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
- will make useful contributions instead.
Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 19:22, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- @Yamla: It seems rather non-optimal to procedurally decline this as stale, given that it was a fairly high-profile block. The default text filled in by {{decline stale}} implies that the unblock request was incomplete, and while some admins might certainly see cause to doubt validity of the request (I'll leave that judgement call to others), one thing it wasn't was incomplete. A response on the merits, even if it leads to the same result, would be preferable procedurally. Cp blocking admin Rosguill. Sdkb talk 16:24, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
- Sure, but nobody reviewed the unblock request. If you'd like to review it on the merits yourself, I believe you are free to do so; I certainly wouldn't object to you reinstating the request and then immediately reviewing it yourself. There were well over a hundred open unblock requests, many of which had been languishing for months. --Yamla (talk) 16:27, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Yamla: Huh, what do you mean by nobody reviewed the unblock request? You didn't care to review it, and just declined it for sake of closing the request? Thank you for your poor judgement. This is definitely NOT what I could have expected from an admin. Tulsi 24x7 08:13, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
- Followed up on the broader issue here. Sdkb talk 17:39, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
