February 2018

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Korati has been reverted.
Your edit here to Korati was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links in references which are discouraged per our reliable sources guideline. The reference(s) you added or changed (https://m.mapsofindia.com/villages/karnataka/bangalore-rural/hosakote/korati.html) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 20:36, 17 February 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for February 23

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Kirkjuráð, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Church (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Speedy deletion nomination of Montenegrization

Hello Prince of Thieves,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Montenegrization for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. Take a look at our suggestions for essential content in short articles to learn what should be included.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Issue at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Doreen McAndrew DiDomenico requires attention.

Thank you for your work with bringing the above to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. I would ask that you delete your opinion about any personal attacks. A claim from one editor does not make it such and you're presenting that way is biased. Djflem (talk) 16:15, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

  • @Djflem: It is definitely the impression I took from your comment, and it is also the way Rusf10 took it, as is obvious here. But it is probably a personal attack for me to call your comment a personal attack, so I will strike it. Prince of Thieves (talk) 16:28, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

Defaultsort

Hey man. Just noticed you'd made an edit to a page on my watchlist- Agnes M. Sigurðardóttir, where you switched the forename/surname order of the DEFAULTSORT tag to FORENAME, SURNAME from SURNAME, FORENAME. I've only noticed the latter used on page I've been on and edited, and was curious as to whether there'd been a change in that convention? - ක - (talk) 18:45, 3 March 2018 (UTC) --Jesuschristonacamel

@Jesuschristonacamel: The basic answer is no. Agnes M. Sigurðardóttir is an Icelandic name, Sigurðardóttir, being a patronym, is not a surname. Icelanders are formally addressed by their first name. Prince of Thieves (talk) 18:56, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
Ah, fair enough. I was under the impression patronyms were treated as surnames, much like they are for Arabic and other languages. - ක - (talk) 16:21, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

  • @Galobtter: I see it, The full text of the supposed paraphrasing is:

The Bahraini team was made up of 4 athletes who were: Alwa Eid Naser Naser, Uwaseun Yusuf Jamal, Iman Essa Jasim Essa and [[Kemi Adekoya|Kemi Mujidat Adekoya]] and they finished with a time of 3:35.07.

The source I used is this, full relevant text is:

But how else am I supposed to put it, would the below be acceptable?

At the [[2016 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships]] in the Women’s 4x400m relay event her team set two new records with a time of 3:35.07. A Championships Record and a new Asian Record. Unspecified source/license for File:AOTD Milton use.png

Thanks for uploading File:AOTD Milton use.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

File source problem with File:AOTD Milton use.png

Thank you for uploading File:AOTD Milton use.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 17:31, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:AOTD_Milton_use.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:AOTD_Milton_use.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? ww2censor (talk) 18:22, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Vlach heritage and new nationalists from former Yugoslavia countries

Talk:Morlachs#Do_Morlachs_exist_in_Croatia_today? diff

Dear editor, About your edits from Vlacs/Morlachs page:

Today, we already know that the cultural heritage of national, ethnic and religious minorities as well as stateless communities in the 20th century in Europe was doomed in many countries to assimilation, persecution and even oblivion. Such minorities are often faced with the situation in which their heritage is rapidly vanishing, which is caused by a lack of general care. The heritage of minorities, including the one of the Vlachs,is not infrequently passed over in silence in official national discourse.

Minority heritage is often marginalized or even destroyed –it is sometimes even stripped of its right to be called ‘heritage,’ and the minorities this heritage belongs to are forced to live in conditions which are close to assimilation.

UE acts in order to promote minority heritage and language conservation.

In the contested pages there are references pro Vlachs/Morlachs census and no references against; only OR ! 79.112.45.135 (talk) 06:59, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

  • My view is that since the article is about Morlachs and the census refers only to Vlachs, as is also the case with the other reports put forward, it would be original research to use sources that only refer to Vlachs to support information about the presence of Morlachs in the census report. To make the connection would require a modern reliable source stating that the terms Morlach and Vlach have the same definition. To be clear, unless the source is specifically referring to their equivalence in terms of the census, it would to say that the terms themselves are equivalent, not just that they refer to the same minority group, unless further sources were found to support the idea that the minority group has an identity beyond that of a single terminology, which would facilitate that being written into the article. Deletion noms

It looks like you are doing “revenge deletion nominations” on creations by Leopheard. In particular this one [3] an eleven year-old article with 9 references, that has been edited by numerous users since being created by Leopheard, and you gave no reason whatsover why you believed it should be deleted. This is not acceptable behavior. Going after someone’s creations with proposed deletions when they are blocked and can’t do anything about it is just petty and reflects very badly on you. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:19, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

@Beeblebrox: I have nothing against Leopheard, I had noticed he was blocked but that was not a factor. He is the author of an article on my bitcoins survey. Online authorisation is the exact same topic as 3-D Secure, it's unsourced and as a basic OR description there is nothing to merge, I can't see it being a valid search term either since the system has long ago become known by various trademarks. List of scrypt crypto currencies is... terrible, I sent it to AfD and explained there my main issues with it. This was a mistake though, I hadn't realised I did that one as a PROD, I stand corrected and am very sorry. I don't quite get what you are saying about PROD's and blocked editors though, should I avoid using PROD templates where the editor is blocked, or is it allowed but only where it is very obviously a spam article? Prince of Thieves (talk) 18:43, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

I’m not saying you can’t use it when the creator is blocked, but doing it to several of their articles right after they are blocked gives the impression you are trying to “kick them when they are down.” Since the particularly objectionable nom was an error I’m satisfied that this was not your intention. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:49, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
No it wasn't, but you're right, it doesn't look good! Prince of Thieves (talk) 18:53, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
