Speedy deletion nomination of Max goonetillake

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Max goonetillake requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. DoriTalkContribs 21:56, 19 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Max goonetillake

edit

The article Max goonetillake has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for this specific type of article, you may want to check out our criterion for biographies. JohnCD (talk) 22:01, 19 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and the articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to Cheese. Readers looking for accurate information will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you are given a good deal of freedom in what you write.   Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Person of color. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. -- irn (talk) 15:22, 15 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I have reverted your changes to the article as you had removed references and added information without references. Please do feel free to add the info again with references. The guidance about this is it citing sources. The teahouse is also a great resource if you want advice. Best wishes, Tacyarg (talk) 13:10, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tacyarg, totally appreciate that I haven't put references in just yet - about to do those within the hour, if you're happy to let me put my changes back in Phoarefan (talk) 13:30, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, apologies, I reverted your changes again as I hadn't seen your message here. I have put them back. You have tagged the image as "own work"; do you have a conflict of interest relating to this article? It would be great to improve it but it does need to be written neutrally and supported by citations - so "approaches the mystical", "helped change the global debate", this all needs to be referenced. Thanks, Tacyarg (talk) 13:44, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Noted, will address those two. No COI Phoarefan (talk) 14:04, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Addressed, please do let me know if there are any other areas where neutrality is lacking, appreciate your help Phoarefan (talk) 14:12, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I see that the text has been rolled back for copyright issues. You have confirmed that you don't have a conflict of interest - so did you incorrectly tag the image as "own work"? Tacyarg (talk) 20:22, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
