Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Eggersmann Küchen edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Eggersmann Küchen, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A.R.M. 22:10, 27 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for message. You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. Draft pages give a degree of protection, but can still be deleted for blatant promotion or copyright violations, as here.

I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company claims or interviewing its management. Much of your text is completely unsourced, and the references you do give include press releases, obvious promotional articles and similar. You said I got a lot of the facts from the website and company representatives so I had no way to cite those—if you can't cite it to independent third-party sources, you can't put it in — we don't want to know what the company says about itself
  • The notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
  1. significant coverage in
  2. independent,
  3. multiple,
  4. reliable,
  5. secondary sources.
Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability. To show notability you need hard verifiable facts such as the number of employees, turnover or profits, not spam about what you sell. You mention 110 employees, but there is no source for that anyway
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced or self-sourced promotional claims presented as fact include: it produces 6000 luxury... oldest family-run German kitchen manufacturer... eggersmann’s production philosophy remains different from other regional cabinetmakers. The eggersmann cabinet-manufacturing facility continues the tradition of customization and detailed carpentry skills while employing the modern machine technology... and that before we get on to the products! There it could be straight out of the brochure eg known for timeless, minimalistic modern aesthetic with innovative functional, ergonomic design. Unlike most German kitchen manufacturers, all solutions are completely custom and with it lacquer system, the choice of colors is limitless.
  • there shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections. That's particularly the case when they are spamlinks to affiliated sites.
  • the article was created in a single edit without wikilinks or references, and looks as if was copied from an unknown and possibly copyrighted source. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial, and text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • The image is clearly not PD as claimed. It's dated 1948, yet we are assured that it was released in the US before 1923 and that the unknown author died 70 years ago, immediately after taking the picture. The claim of permission is not supported by an OTRS ticket, even if the company owns the copyright.
  • You have used material fromm the company including the image and company plans, and it's clear that you have an obvious conflict of interest that you must declare. If you work directly or indirectly for an organisation, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Onomatowoo. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Onomatowoo|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message.

The fact that other articles have not been deleted doesn't help you, either they met the criteria or should be deleted as well. See What about article x?. Also note that many articles would have been accepted before the notability guidelines were made stricter. I've looked at the two articles, and removed some text from both, but despite their faults they aren't currently as blatantly promotional as yours.

I'm prepared to restore the text with the most obvious spam removed. You should not put it back. Please indicate if you are prepared too proceed on that basis. You will also need to reply to the COI request above in the prescribed manner before I do so Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:23, 29 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

First things first. If you are paid by the company, you have a financial interest, so you are required to make the paid editor declaration anyway, even if not paid for that specific piece. You must do that before we go any further.
The wikilinks and references comment was an error on my part which I should have removed from my standard copyright warning. I'm happ
Company sources are OK for probably uncontroversial facts like number of employees, but not for, eg descriptions of products. Any opinions and weasel words must be avoided.
I'm not prepared to restore the text complete as it stands. You could retrieve the original from the restored history though, since I'm unlikely to hide that, as long as you don't post it here.

One other thing; you said you would post photos of the factory. They must be your own images, since if they are taken from the company website they will be copyright unless explicitly marked as PD, which companies hardly ever permit. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:22, 29 October 2018 (UTC)}Reply

Yes, these images are unpublished and will be uploaded from my phone. Thanks. Onomatowoo (talk) 14:23, 29 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
