Tulsa Phil

No problem, I'm happy to help with spelling and such issues - those are the sort of things I tend to work on. As for finding a citation, that's harder - if I were you I'd probably call Tim McFadden or Marta Mattes at the Symphony office and find out if there was anything published that we could refer to. The other thing you might try is a search of the Tulsa World's archives. If there's not, we really need to take that statement out (although I tend to agree with it) as unverified. As far as Wikipedia is concerned, if it can't be proven with Reliable Sources[edit] A Texas Trilogy

I noticed you changed the plays from one act to full length. How do you know they are full length? The plays were presented together in one evening. It would be unusual to have three whole plays performed together on one night.Nrswanson (talk) 04:35, 13 April 2008 (UTC), then we can't publish it. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help, and welcome to Wikipedia. Philippe | Talk 05:53, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Also, I wanted to let you know that if you ever have any questions about using wikipedia, or our guidelines or such, you're always welcome to put a message on my talk page and I'll do my very best to help you. I've got about 7,000 edits now, and I'm pretty comfortable working my way around the wiki. I promise that if I don't know an answer to a question, I'll find someone who does! We really want our newer contributors to know that there are places they can go to get answers, because all the guidelines and policies tend to get a little overwhelming sometimes! Yeah, I checked your contribs and looked at the Light Opera Oklahoma page and the Tulsa Symphony Page. They both looked good, though I fixed a spelling thing on the Light Opera page. I was surprised to see it on the list of new pages - Eric Gibson is a good friend and neighbor, so I got a kick out of that. The only thing I would suggest is that there may be a bit too much detail about schedules and programs on the Tulsa Symphony Page, but I'm inclined to leave it there until/unless someone else removes it. Philippe | Talk 06:03, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
And to answer your question (which I intended to but forgot!) - no, interview sources aren't accepted. They need to be written and reliable (and referencable!). You can get more detail by clicking here. Philippe | Talk 06:04, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, if you're doing Music Man and Sweeney, then you know my partner, Casey, who was the chorus master for the shows this year! I'll be at several of the shows (and at the cabaret this Thursday), so if you see Casey, look for me and introduce yourself! I'm off to bed now, I have an 8AM meeting. Always feel free to ask me any questions you might have. Philippe | Talk 06:16, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps you'll get the chance to know Casey better - we've been trying to figure out when we could have the LOOK folks over to the house for an evening of wine and snacks and such - has to be after he gets back from the UK and before we go the next time! I'd like to meet you, as well. - Philippe | Talk 20:29, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Baritone

I see you have been having a go at this. We now have 5 main classifications and 2 minor. I think this is too many. Almost every singer I can think of belongs in at least two groups. How about reducing to three? Bel canto (or whatever you want to call it), lyric and dramatic. Kavalier is only used in Germany as far as I know, and Verdi baritone in most cases is indistinguishable from dramatic IMO.

The other issue is the list of roles. Please see here --Kleinzach (talk) 08:58, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

The Royal Danish Opera

Sorry, I never got round to this (story of my life!). I'll get on to my Danish contact today and see what he says. Best. --GuillaumeTell (talk) 14:52, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I've now had a proper look around myself. The first thing that I noticed was that it was you who redirected Royal Danish Opera to Royal Danish Theatre. Second, it seems to me that the latter article is basically accurate, but confuses the issue by saying that the organisation and the pictured theatre have the same name. The picture is of what is now known as The Old Stage.
There is definitely a company called the Royal Danish Opera. It seems to perform mostly at the new opera house but gives some productions (I guess of smaller-scale operas, such as Lucio Silla) at the Old Stage. There is a page about the company on the Kongelige Teater website, and Kasper Holten describes himself as the Director on his own site.
What I suggest - given that the orchestra and ballet already have their own pages - is:
1. Start a stub on the Old Stage (the building's history and what is performed there now and who by) and move the picture there.
2. Make it clearer on the Royal Danish Theatre page that this is now simply the title of the umbrella organisation, though the term once applied to the old building.
3. Convert the redirect into a stub on the Royal Danish Opera.
Once that is done, I'll ask my Danish contact to have a look.
What do you think? --GuillaumeTell (talk) 18:07, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Question regarding Adina

Hi Klienzach. No one has responded to my question about where Adina should go on the Rossini operas chart. I thought you might have some insight. The issue is the opera was composed nine years before it premiered. Do we go by the date of composition or the date of first performance?Nrswanson (talk) 04:23, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

I hesitated to reply because I don't know the opera and don't have any information on it. I thought GT might respond. He is the Rossini expert. However judging by the article, it should go by the date of the first performance. -- Kleinzach (talk) 04:29, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi - I did respond on the Opera Project talk page, but it must have been after you contacted Kleinzach (obviously I hadn't seen the above at that point). Anyway, my view is that it should go after Mosè in Egitto (1818) and not as an 1826 opera. As far as I can see, Rossini pretty much disowned it and probably never saw a performance. (BTW, someone added all the redlinked operas to the navbox, complete with incorrect capitalisation. I've reverted.)
Anyway, the reason I'm here is to say that, wherever Adina goes, it ought to be piped thus [[Adina (opera)|Adina]] so that the "(opera)" part doesn't show. Best. --GuillaumeTell (talk) 22:43, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations on your DYK!

On 25 February, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Rosemary Kuhlmann, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Congratulations and keep up the good work! Ruhrfisch ><>°° 11:59, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Fujiwara Opera

Hi. I see you put this on the project page 'wanted' section as "Tokyo's major opera company". Actually it isn't. The main opera company is the New National Theatre, Tokyo. The Fujiwara only have three productions a year. Best. -- Kleinzach (talk) 12:05, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Vocal weight

If you have a moment could you have a look at this one? It has an accuracy disputed notice on it. Thanks. -- Kleinzach (talk) 13:27, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for having a go at this. -- Kleinzach (talk) 23:23, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Countertenor

Thanks for your note. I've only done copyediting on that article - no content. It's not a subject I know a lot about, however two Opera Project editors have worked on it in the past who are knowledgeable - Moreschi and Voxclamans. I think they'll be willing to help you if you approach them. Best. -- Kleinzach (talk) 23:31, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Laurenţiu Rotaru

I added some material to Laurenţiu Rotaru and left some comments at the AfD, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Laurenţiu Rotaru. I recognize that he is still a student (albeit at the master's level), but I think he may be notable. --Eastmain (talk) 20:39, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Low C and Deep C

I've removed them from the Opera Terms navbox but I don't really feel competent to give an opinion on the afd. Obviously they are dubious . . . Maybe you should put a note on Wikipedia:WikiProject Music terminology? --Kleinzach (talk) 00:42, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

OK. I've reconsidered . . . --Kleinzach (talk) 01:02, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Gail Dubinbaum (again!)

Hi, I'm watching this page - are the external links references for the article, if so give me a shout and I'm happy to help you integrate them into the article. Best wishes Fritzpoll (talk) 00:16, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Voice articles and categories

Hi. I've just signed off all the voice articles from Soprano to Bass and much else. You've done a great job of getting them into shape, so they are off my watch list and I'm looking at other things.

One request if you have time - could you look at: Category:sopranos • Category:mezzo-sopranos • Category:altos • Category:countertenors • Category:tenors • Category:baritones • Category:basses and remove singers (pop, folk or whatever) who don't sing in range and shouldn't be there?

We are working towards reforming the cats and it will be a big help to clean up the cats, just as you have cleaned up the lists in the articles. Thanks. --Kleinzach (talk) 08:44, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it's too big a job for one person. (I'm also working on it.) How about one voice cat? Sopranos? --Kleinzach (talk) 09:27, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

May Singer of the month

It's not really a question of whether the names are good - it's whether anyone will write the articles. Normally only the proposer of the idea plus one or two others contributes. If you fail you get a lot of red links at the end of the month - then the only remaining option is to do it yourself. The more names there are, the more red links . . . that why I suggested limiting to 12. --Kleinzach (talk) 09:27, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

"I don't mind picking up the slack." That's great - maybe you should say that?
"I think it would do the project good to be thinking more about opera today than it has so far." WP policy on notability/verifiability is tricky, that's why it's easier to write about historic people . . .
"We probably should feature one contemporary singer a month on there to keep people interested." How exactly? Do you have a model? Maybe you should make a suggestion on the project page? --Kleinzach (talk) 10:16, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Noelle Brooks

Hi Kleinzach. Just letting you know an administrator signed off on the debate on this page as delete but forgot to actually delete the article.Nrswanson (talk) 01:22, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Sometimes they take a day or two to get round to it. I'd remind him/her in a couple of days if it doesn't disappear. --Kleinzach (talk) 01:46, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
It's gone now. Thanks for the reminder. :-) - Philippe 03:11, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
