 Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, Doug Weller talk 13:32, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to the topics of Kurds and Kurdistan, broadly construed, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Kurdish Vandalism

edit

Hello NICTON t! Nice to meet you again, recently there has been a User under the name "Semsûrî" Who has been vandalising pages like Laylan Subdistrict, Turkmeneli,Mandali and Daquq etc. They even opened an ANI against me named "disruption of Kirkukturk3" because I didn't source the Anthem and the Map for turkmeneli(which is obviously stupid because both are sourced) and when I sourced the Anthem they claimed "its poorly sourced" they're even trying to get admins to be on their side. Why do Kurds love vandalising pages? Kirkuk☆ (Selaj/konuş) 15:30, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi ,im very interested in this topic.
how about getting in touch in telegaram/ whatsapp/anything suits you , so we can figure something out more effectively.
remember that we can always report them or any admin to the higher administrators, vandalism should not be tolerated.
my telegram user @neverever90 NICTON t (talk) 15:35, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I will contact you as soon as I manage to find my phone, Thanks in advance! Kirkuk☆ (Selaj/konuş) 15:50, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
You are welcome ,i will be waiting for you . NICTON t (talk) 15:52, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey there partner! Just checking in about 8 hours after our last convo. If creating a TG account are not possible at the moment, we can use other DM chatting platforms such as instagram , facebook messenger or anything that suits you , I'm so invested in this topic , and i'm so ready to arrange something to make our changes on Turkmeneli or other pages to be accepted by admins .
I currently have plans to open a ”Talk” on each page talk section and present our evidence to our changes . By this way our possibility of changing the content of any page rises from 50% to 95% . NICTON t (talk) 20:12, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
As of right now my phone is lost.
I will see if I can do anything tomorrow about it. Kirkuk☆ (Selaj/konuş) 23:36, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry but you have a major problem. We have no reason to think you and the blocked editor won't continue to work together, and this is called WP:Proxying and not allowed. Doug Weller talk 16:58, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Is this a warning? If so, please issue an independent warning against me. I would like to have a formal warning so I can lodge a complaint regarding this matter. NICTON t (talk) 17:11, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
It is a warning telling you to avoid proxying. Report me if you like. Doug Weller talk 17:39, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
If I wasn’t specific enough, if you are disruptive in the contentious topic area you may be topic banned, perhaps but not likely by me as my activity will be dropping. Your friend was to a large extent a victim of his lack of understanding and competence(hopefully you have seen some of their confusing sentences). Hopefully that won’t be a problem for you. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 21:26, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Bbb23 @Schazjmd just clearifcation , as I couldn’t write in the ani page, the comment was made hours before the user kirkukturk3 were banned , I suggested him to make changes on talk page then in the content page itself .
how it’s considered to be proxying if i suggested that to him before him getting banned by by hours ? NICTON t (talk) 21:38, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
As Doug tried to explain to you, the conversation makes it seem possible (even likely) that you might continue to work with Kirkukturk3, even though they can't edit themselves right now. As you are relatively inexperienced here, you might not know that isn't permissible. You were warned so that you could avoid WP:Proxying. Schazjmd (talk) 21:52, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
