Worklight software

I wanted to start a page on the company I work in - Worklight. Looking here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=WorkLight&action=edit&redlink=1 I see that it was deleted in the past, not sure why. But by now there are a few references to it within Wikipedia (see links below) and IMHO it deserves a mention. How do I go about doing that? Please take into consideration that I am a newbie (well, except for this: http://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%99%D7%A2%D7%A7%D7%91_%D7%A8%D7%95%D7%96%D7%A0%D7%94%D7%99%D7%99%D7%9D )

Hi Yaron. The article you are looking for is Worklight (company), which is a more appropriate name for the article. It was deleted by a proposed deletion process since it lacked proof of notability, namely proof that the topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject (see WP:GNG). This type of deletion often occurs when an editor creates a new article without the necessary proof of notability and leaves the article. As no one else adds those references, the article will be removed. There is no intrinsic reason to avoid creating the article again. However, I would strongly advise against creating an article on a company you are employed for because of conflict of interest. What you can do is try to create the article through Wikipedia:Articles for creation so someone else reviews it. It would be appropriate to mention your conflict of interest. You can also create the article on your own user space (say at User:Yarongoldberg/Worklight (company)) and then ask another editor to review and move it. I see some comments were made and the article was reviewed. It seems like you'll need more reliable sources that are independent of the company, ideally an article covering the company in some magazine or newspaper. From what I see you provided only one independent source (this), and even that one does quite a shallow coverage. I don't think this will cut the mustard, see WP:CORPDEPTH and in fact the entire WP:CORP. Sources which mainly relate to Hybrid mobile apps and only mention the company are of little help. List of universities in India

I see that FL review is going on. Good luck for the same. I had some doubts & suggestions & hence thought of coming here.

• Does India have the highest number of universities? If so, shouldnt lead state it so?

• I don't know. I don't have any reliable sources about it so I can't say. If you can find some then I agree it would be appropriate to add that fact.

• Right! i too didnt get any reliable source.

• Is Deccan College Post-Graduate and Research Institute, listed under Maharashtra the oldest university in India? It would be interesting to know which one is in the lead section.

• I don't know, and again, I don't have any reliable sources on the fact. Some institutes may claim an earlier establishment date. I think trying to ascertain the oldest higher education institute in India is close to impossible.

• Not source, but the list itself says so. Though it was given Uni status much later.

• This image used in the list File:Hindu University.jpg reads as "Banaras Hindu University, established 1916". Is this particular architecture part of the University? Was just curious. Hence asking. Is it like some building or just entrance gate or something?

• The specialization column for "Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Andha Pradesh", "Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Haryana", "Karnataka State Women's University, Karnataka", "Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University, Maharashtra", "Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan", "IIS University, Rajasthan", "Mody Institute of Technology and Science, Rajasthan", "Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women's University, Rajasthan", "Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Tamil Nadu" and "Mother Teresa Women's University, Tamil Nadu" reads as "women's only". Shouldnt the specialization column speak about what the university teaches? The women's only can be added as some note. And word "only" is missing in Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women's University, Rajasthan.

• It doesn't say anywhere that specialization must be about what is taught. The consensus amongst all editors of the page is that "Women's only" and "Disabled only" are specializations. You are free to start discussion on the talk page if you think this is inappropriate. Fixed that.

• Similar with "Dr. Shakuntala Misra Rehabilitation University, Uttar Pradesh" and "Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Handicapped University, Uttar Pradesh" with "diabled only".

• Same answer, by consensus, this is a specialization.

• "Central University of Bihar" says Post graduate. But in what?

• You can read about this here. If you have an idea how to summarize it in one or two words feel free to edit it. I think "Postgraduate" is all I can say about it.

• I also am not liking the use of Madras University's pic in the lead. Something that would represent all universities in common would be good to have there. • UGC's logo cannot be used as it is not a free image and as such can only be used in an article about the UGC. In my eyes, a depiction of Saraswati (like this one) would not really be appropriate to a list which does not relate to religion (some of the universities are Christian or Muslim for example) but I am also aware that I am sometimes too sensitive where it comes to religion, a sensitivity which might not be in place for this subject. If you feel it is appropriate, please start discussion at the talk page.

• No! that picture of Saraswati is generic. It has no connection with universities (apart from the fact that she is Hindu goddess of knowledge). But that is wrong. If we at all have any picture of Sarawati's statue from one of these Unis then that would do even if she links to only one religion. But something other than religious icon would be much better. Will think of something.

There were quite a number of problems I corrected, so you will have to be more specific. Anyway, for every edit I make I leave an edit summary explaining what I did. A good place to learn what a university article should include is the guideline for university articles. Some problems I corrected include use of bold letter where not necessary, use of academic credentials, use of external links in the article body and listing programmes. The filmography and the awards presented are simple facts and are reflected on the reliable imdb-site as well. That's very simple. While the article is more or less a stub, Wikipedia requires verifiability by inline citations of reliable sources. This is especially true for biographies of living people, we just can't have information about a person's upbringing without reliable sources.An article with little but well sourced information, is better than one with much unverifiable information. Dear Muhandes, thanks for your quick reply. I'm very impressed! I really think the important filmmaker Arthur Cohn deserves a more detailled and serious page. The current one is a joke, and I would even say: disrespectful. As you saw, I'm quite new to Wikipedia, and I indeed could need some assistance. So: 1) In the filmography, do I need to put a reference to imdb (or any other website) behind each movie? 2) Re reliable sources for details in the biography: What newspapers/ databases are considered by Wiki reliable? I agree the article is in bad shape content-wise. I don't think it is a joke or disrespectful. There are millions of subjects, and it just happens no one had the inclination to write a proper article. You seem to be interested, so this might change. I would be happy to assist you, and I'll start with some answers.

1. IMDB is usually not considered a reliable source, see WP:IMDB. However, the filmography does not really need sources, as anyone can easily verify if a film existed or not. In fact, I restored it based on your edits. Quite a number of the films have articles, so you should link them.
2. Newspapers and books are usually reliable, both online and offline, and so are some websites. You can read more about it in WP:RS.
3. No, I am not a caretaker of this page, I just stumbled upon it randomly. Sometimes pages have someone maintaining them but this one does not (you can check that by going to the talk page and seeing if someone declared themselves as such. For example see Talk:UK Asian Music Awards, you can see I am maintaining it). However, even if someone is maintaining an article, they do not own it and all editors are encouraged to contribute.
4. You use the talk page of the article to discuss matters. Everyone discusses things until consensus is arrived. There isn't any authority for deciding what is right, we, the editors, including yourself, decide that.
5. I'm glad you got an account. You now have the capability to watch pages by adding them to your watchlist, see that page I just linked. Put my talk page there, and you'll be able to see whenever someone edits my page. If you wish, I can notify you whenever I make edits regarding your comments, like I am going to do in a minute.

Frankly, I have little understanding (or interest) in the subject. My involvement stems from the fact that the articles created were sub-par even for stubs. They had incorrect English and multiple policy and guidelines violations. I can help by editing Education in West Bengal, but currently it has practically zero sources (all the sources are simple pointers to university websites). Where is all this information from? Good to see you back. I'm not doing anything specific at the time, mainly chasing my watch list. A new editor, Soumitrahazra, has been creating dozens of college stub articles, and I've been correcting them after him (at the beginning it was all copyvio and other problems, now mainly grammar and redundancy). He's quite stubborn sometimes (see right now at this article for instance], so maybe if you put a second eye on his edits it might help. Where would I go for this dispute?

An IP has been has been changing the single release dates on the infobox for Bachata Rosa and persisted even after I told the IP that it went against what sources say and went as far to changing my comment on the user talk page to suit the user's preference. That's a very generic question, it really depends on the nature of evidence and on whether it's a static or dynamic IP. In any case, the first step would be to start discussion on the article's talk page (if it's multiple articles, choose one of them, can leave messages on the rest pointing to the discussion) and invite the other editor to discuss the matter. If it's a static IP, you can treat them like a registered editor and go through WP:DR as usual. If it's very blatantly unsourced and against sources, you may want to warn them about unsourced addition and if they persist go to WP:ANI. Consider WP:AN3 if it applies. If it's a dynamic IP and they refuse discussion, ask for page protection. See, it all depends on the case. You can also send me a list of articles and I'll put them on my watch list, but I'm about two days behind on my watch list as it is, so not sure I'll really be able to help that way. --Muhandes (talk) 07:13, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

IIM faculty

It is actually true that all faculty in every IIT and IIM are doctorates. It is the minimum eligibility criteria for recruitment of Faculty. [2],[3],[4],[5]. I also agree adding it will disrupt the flow, but I also think it is still an unsourced claim. All the sources show is that new hires are required to have doctorates, it speaks nothing of existing ones. My apologies, I was assuming you were following this discussion. We hit a roadblock since none of us was able to find reliable sources that cover or use the tables, other than Mako, to establish its notability. The reliability of the chart was also doubted by one source, so sources relating to reliability would also be nice. I was assuming the ball is in your hands, and said there is no rush, but indeed it has been close to a month now and I did not revisit the issue. I don't have close connections in the Israeli music industry (I'm sorry if that what you understood from my words), but I'm sure I can show you more reliable sources which tell about Media Forest:

• 1 - The company entered the field of advertising, globes.
• 2 - You can read the first paragraph of the article, mouse.co.il
• 3 - Information about Media Forest is explained briefly in the fourth paragraph, Ynet.
• 4 - Explanation about Media Forest in the last paragraph, Walla.co.il.
• 5 - Explanations about the differences between Media Forest and Acum, Walla.co.il.

Regarding all these fine sources, it's too bad you did not come up with them while the deletion discussion was ongoing (or even better, added them to the article and perhaps avoided the deletion discussion altogether). From these sources it is clear to me that the yearly chart by Media Forest is notable, and I would have objected the deletion of the article on that ground alone. I'm still unconvinced about the weekly charts as I don't see a single source quoting or using them (other than Mako). Anyway, why are you addressing this at me personally? There are two issues, both of which I raised at that discussion. First, notability is achieved by coverage (and I'll settle for usage) by independent reliable sources. I don't see any sources doing that for the weekly charts. Second, and maybe more important, the market size is minute. We may be talking 15 stations, but רשת ב and רשת גימל do not air foreign music, and I think neither does רדיו מורשת. In addition גלצ is also not a music station. This leaves only a single station with full coverage, גלגלצ, which we all know is run by a playlist. The rest are local stations. Look for example at this random week. To be #10 all a song needed is 32 airs. Galgalatz itself can easily give an artist 15 airs a week, so what to these numbers mean? The preference of one or two people writing the playlist? If you want to be extreme you may say I don't think an airplay chart in Israel could ever be notable. But if I saw this chart quoted by Ynet, Walla, Mouse etc. I think I'd change my mind. This is of course my personal opinion, and to be honest, you don't really need to convince me. I'm not even a major editor of charts. --Muhandes (talk) 06:58, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

I know it looks weird, but I checked and found that Media Forest monitors songs airplay in about 20 different radio stations in Israel. Please go here and see "מצעדי השמעות שבועיים" (near "טכנולוגיה"). You can clearly see the radio stations (גלגלצ and רשת ג' among them), so tell me what is your opinion about that. I know that "charts.co.il" is blacklisted and I don't know if it's a reliable source, but Media Forest's weekly chart was used by charts.co.il. And about what you said with the airplay, you have a good explanation in the site about how it monitors songs, and not all the radio stations in the broadcast play Latin songs. I'll answer both of your queries together since they deal with the same issue. The page was deleted because of speedy deletion criteria A7, namely that it failed to indicate the importance of the individual. The page linked above should give you ample explanation of why it was deleted and through what process. Claiming that I did not give you the proper warning is ridiculous, as you still have the Speedy deletion nomination warning on your talk page. Anyway, as I am not an administrator, I did not delete the file nor can I undelete it. It's quite a nice article, though there is still much to do to get it to GA. The history section is very short and poor. At the very least you need to list the directors and try to discuss different periods. The lead should be at least three times larger, summarizing the article. The problem was not sources to begin with, it was the extremely promotional tone you are taking. Seriously, "Mridang is the instrument that symbolizes self expression, raw energy and the power of human emotion", does that sound encyclopedic to you? Stick to the facts, describe what it is, not what it stands for or what it promotes itself as. Wikipedia is not a promotional medium, it is an encyclopedia. About Media Forest, again

mako posted an article which tells exactly about songs airplay in Israel this week (February 16 to 22), based on Media Forest (read "מה זה מצעד השמעות?"). They also mentioned the stations which played most of the song airplay. So I think it's clearly that 32 airs for #10 is notable. I presume you are Rcdinesh, in the future please remember to log in. Please also remember to sign your messages. If you look at your talk page you will see a message I left you about the rankings. You did not "add a complete list of rankings". You removed two of the rankings which were less flattering, and replaced them with other rankings, none of which were properly sourced. Of course, NITIE at their website will choose to show the high rankings and hide the lower ones. This is called promotion and boosterism, and Wikipedia does not allow it. We have an ongoing discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Education in India#B-school rankings about what rankings to allow. You are welcome to join it. I'm not sure how reliable www.citymayors.com is, but I found it at Wikipedia:Mirrors and forks/Abc#citymayors.com, and mirrors and forks are usually not considered reliable sources. Nevertheless, I cannot say this specific piece of information was forked, so if you add the facts again to the article, with proper citation, I doubt anyone will revert it. help on merging redundant pages

Hi Muhandes, thanks for your editing tips earlier, could you help me out with something ? I have been editing a page Thrikkakara Temple for sometime and I realized there is another wiki article page Thrikkakkara Vamana Temple referring to the same entity, with some other (also useful) information. Since these refer to the same entity, I think it would be good to merge both into a single page and delete the redunant copy. Can you give me any info on this ? How do I delete a page, am I allowed to do so myself? I have mentioned this on the talk page for Thrikkakkara Vamana Temple as well, but is that enough ? There is a process for doing this, see WP:MERGE. You cannot simply remove an article, you need to first gain consensus that the merge is appropriate, and which article should remain. You then need to merge the material, and attribute it correctly. The entire process is explained at Help:Merging. Butterfly Kisses (Shades of Grace)

I know it may have looked weird, but why did you revert my edit? It is a true fact that -- in 1996 -- the album Shades of Grace was released. When the song "Butterfly Kisses" became such a huge hit, they decided to re-release it as Butterfly Kisses (Shades of Grace), which emphasizes the hit song and the original name of the album. As a side note, on the different versions of the album, the track list was in a different order, as well. Could you incorporate this information into the article? Thanks! As I said in the edit summary, I reverted it because I think adding a fact with a built in {{citation needed}} tag is pointless. If you believe the fact may be disputable, and you don't have a reliable source, I think you should not add the fact at all. If you don't think it is disputable, add the fact without the tag. I'm not familiar with the subject enough to know which of the two it is. You seem to be missing an important fact. The two templates fall under two different Wiki Projects, WP:INDIA and WP:PAKISTAN. There is nothing saying two projects must follow the same standard, but there is everything saying that within the same project there should be standardization. WP:INDIA chose to use "Template:State" as the standard, so we have Template:Andhra Pradesh but we don't have Template:Districts of Andhra Pradesh, and the same for all states. WP:PAKISTAN chose "Template:Districts of province" and "Templaet:Province topics" as the standard, so we have Template:Districts of Sindh and Template:Sindh topics but we don't have Template:Sindh. Hi there Muhandes, Hope all is well with you today. The reason that I am contacting you is because I noticed you posted this warning on GeorgianJorjadze's talk page. I'm not sure if you are aware, but the user appears to have a long record of disruptive editing. I came across something similar yesterday, and posted a comment on the users talk page explaining what they had done wrong, along with a question. However, the user just blanked his talk page without even responding to my question, which I personally found to be ignorant and rude. Upon inspection of their contributions they appear to have been warned several times for a variety of different violations, and each time the user just blanks their talk page (including the warnings) in ignorance. Just thought I best make you aware in case things get out of hand. I've got the user on my watchlist, and I am more than willing to called up as a witness if the user needs to be taken to ANI. I'm aware of his past behavior. He always seems to keep just shy of really making someone angry enough to do anything about it. The one thing he does right, is that according to WP:OWNTALK, editors are allowed to blank their talk page whenever they feel like. In fact, I noticed this edit you made, and I was going to leave you a note about it later tonight, but you beat me to it (I'm writing this in recess between classes). Anyway, the real issue here is the edits he makes, not his talk page actions. If he'll continue to violate the MOS on the one page I watch, I'll go to ANI. However, 99.9% of any users (registered or IP) generally reply back to a comment which is considered courteous. Blanking a question without acknowledging it is technically bad faith ignorance. He did accept that point of view in the end, and responded to my original question. At this current stage I cannot report him to ANI, as the other violations he made where previous noted and warnings issued by other editors. The only involvement I've had to date with GeorgianJorjadze is regarding the bizarre alterations to a template that is currently being disputed at WT:ESC; to which I posted the question I spoke about above. Choa Saidanshah and Choa Saidan Shah Tehsil

Hi Muhandes,

This is in reference to the page "Choa Saidanshah", although I agree that the page is not about Tehsil Choa Saidan Shah it is neither about the Union Council, It is about the place and town known as Choa Saidan Shah. I recommend that you merge (if you can) the other pages like Choa Saidan Shah with this one so that all information is on one page instead of creating three separate pages one for the town, one for the the UC and one for tehsil. Tehsil and Town can be the sub-sections in the main article not separate pages/articles.

While I am not a member or WP:PAKISTAN, looking at the articles about other places in Pakistan I see that the standard consensus is to have separate articles, one about the tehsil and one about the UC and village/town. It is quite clear that they are not the same thing either – Choa Saidan Shah Tehsil includes Arra, Basharat, Dalwal, Dandot, Dulmial and Lehr Sultanpur, which are not part of the city/UC Choa Saidanshah. I don't think we should go against consensus and common practice without very good reasons, and you provided no such reasons. Clean up is a general term for many deficiencies in an article, including, but not limited to, wikification, spelling, grammar, typographical errors, tone, and sourcing. The exact problem is usually listed by the editor in the clean up template itself, or discussed on the talk page. I don't know what "sample text" has to do with it. As for good faith, as harsh as my comments may have sounded, I did assume good faith on the first edit. In regard to your question, he had a lot in common with [[Bill Smith (Fell runner}]], as they were both (really) ultra marathoners who died alone in an inaccessible location that became problematical in terms of recovery. I do have an encyclopedic agenda which is to connect Fell running and Ultramarathon, as these related avocations are isolated from one another. But I can wait until the cause of death is officially established. I have no problem with Bill Smith (fell runner), the similarity is clearer there, and indeed I left it in the article. I was referring to Jim Fixx and James A. Corea which do not seem as closely related. --Muhandes (talk) 09:54, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
