Inconsistency

When does someone enter office after being elected in a special election? I have seen some users say that they take office as soon as they are elected. For example, Daniel M. Donovan, Jr. and Alma Adams are shown to assumed office on the date of the election. Dave Brat used to be shown as assuming office on November 4th, but was changed recently to the 12th. This is turning into a problem because the date is different on the district article. TL565 (talk) 01:12, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

They usually have a swearing in ceremony a week or two after the election itself. It's not an automatic thing, though, since the unofficial results need to be confirmed and everything of that sort. I couldn't find a source for when Kelly will actually assume office, but I would imaging it will be this next week. It's not like we need a recount on that election. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:56, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Some Yankees who also played leather helmet football

Hi there Muboshgu. Probably redundant to say at this point but I see you do fine work. My interest and knowledge focuses a great deal more on football, particularly of the older variety. It would be interesting to see what you could find (if they are of the type you cover) on Hinkey Haines or Gink Hendrick – for there is little detail of their role alongside Ruth. Cake (talk) 15:10, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Thank you. I'm not familiar with those two players, but I am interested in the "old time" baseball players. I'd have to look into their roles with Ruth, as I'm unfamiliar. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:54, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you're seeing to suggest it passes GNG. But I shouldn't be the lone person deciding that it should be a re-direct so maybe a discussion at WP:Baseball would be best.--Yankees10 17:54, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps. I just added a source from CSN Chicago and one from CBS Chicago. I think he's gotten enough coverage over time, but I can see why you'd disagree. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:56, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Question for you

Yea I got one question for you about my previous edit on Sammy Sosa's article. I did not vandalize Wikipedia all I did was said he was one of the best today and you counted it as vandalism. How is that one simple word vandalism? Dyoungblood974 (talk) 20:59, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

"Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content, in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia.". I doubt you're going to try to convince me that you're being constructive, especially since your last edit on Sosa's page was to add "He borrowed his homerun powers from his butt". – Muboshgu (talk) 21:31, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Don Larsen's perfect game

Do you have any interest in creating the article on Don Larsen's perfect game? It's odd that the most famous perfect game of them all is one of the few that doesn't have it's own article.--Yankees10 17:57, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ryan Lollis

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ryan Lollis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:55, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Also, don't remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created. He doesn't pass WP:NBASE, as he hasn't actually made an appearance. I think there's no notability, just let the admins decide. Joseph2302 (talk) 19:35, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
I did forget the rule about removing CSD tags, for which I apologize. But I contend this doesn't meet G4 as his promotion substantially changes things. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:00, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
I replied at the talkpage, whilst I was technically correct that they don't pass WP:NBASE yet, I didn't realise they were going to play later today. IMO, that makes it not worth deleting. Joseph2302 (talk) 20:05, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

License tagging for File:PitcheroftheYear.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:PitcheroftheYear.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. RE: Jason Rapert

For your information: After several requests to have erroneous information removed from this site which pertains to me personally, I have contacted Wikipedia directly. For several months now, posts to this site have been allowed that are false and libelous, and they often have been the root of harassment and threats being made against me and my family. Most all of these posts cite blog posts from Max Brantley of the "Arkansas Times" which is a local blog organization, not a legitimate news organization, that is well known for attacking and disparaging Republican politicians and Christian advocates. If the posts do not cite him directly, they cite other posts that are based upon his posts. He is well known to attack me for my Christian beliefs and conservative policy positions. Whoever has self-appointed themselves as editor of this page has repeatedly removed edits that took down the erroneous information or information that contradicts these outrageous posts. It is quite apparent that many posts are politically motivated and are placed by someone with an agenda rather than posts that are simply biographical in nature. The legitimacy of this page is totally in question until proper oversight is given to ensure that posts are factual and legitimate and not simply political attacks. I personally object to the inclusion of posts that disparage my reputation and character. It is quite apparent that the self-appointed editors of this page allow posts that do not comply with the Wikipedia guidelines for living persons. As I mentioned, after no success in getting good edits approved on this page, I am appealing to Wikipedia governing authorities to assist. Respectfully, Sen. Question

Why does everyone keep changing the MLB player to baseball biography it gets rid of the teams colors. Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 21:00, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure why people use the baseball biography template, unless it's a person who's played in KBO, NPB, etc. I'm also not sure why they work so differently. I've been wondering what the deal is with these templates, given the merge notice on them. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:29, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Greetings - I noticed you reverted my edit of Sandoval from third/first baseman to just third baseman, based on the ongoing consensus on the page. Wasn't sure if you had seen a roster update or if it was accidental? I noticed earlier you have made similar reverts to mine (back to solely third baseman). Hillary Clinton

I don't see in what way such a title violates this rule. It is a standard that has developed without objection in these articles, and the bold title rules you linked don't seem to explicitly prohibit this standard. Spartan7W § 01:40, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

WP:BOLDTITLE says "Links should not be placed in the boldface reiteration of the title in the opening sentence of a lead" for the example of the Babe Ruth Award. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:58, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

But this wouldn't preclude following the same line, link absent, with her highest office following, i.e. ...Clinton, the 67th Secretary of State..., which is the standard of more importance (and to which no objection I may find), and in that case I can alter all the articles to comply withou the link being in bold. The links are in the infobox anyways. Spartan7W § 02:02, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

There's nothing inherently wrong with putting it after the bolded title like that, except that it precludes a natural place to link the lead to "Hillary Clinton", which should be linked in the lead, just not in the bolded title. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:07, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for July 28

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bruce Bochy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Category. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Papelbon

If u go to mlb.com and and read news it will come up Papelbon to nationals PSU22409 (talk) 22:36, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

MLB.com says "The Nationals are on the verge of acquiring Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon, sources confirmed to MLB.com on Tuesday." That's not a completed deal. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:40, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Papelbon trade

Sports Illustrated has announced that the trade is official Philliesman26 (talk) 22:37, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Show me the link? Everything I see says "on the verge" etc. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:41, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

Gomez trade

What do you think about the trade collapsing? I am from Milwaukee so I am very happy they can keep him for awhile but hey can you help me with two users they keep changing the pages of Wilmer Flores and Zack Wheeler.Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 03:20, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Part of me is happy because I as a Yankees fan have a bet with a Mets fan to see who has the best win-loss record at the end of the season. :) Seems like it might've been a little light for Gomez, but Wheeler is solid. I'm logged in for at least a little bit.

It was very light for Gomez he is way to only get Wheeler and Flores it should have been Flores and one of the big four pitchers.Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 03:24, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Or Juan Lagares and a big four pitcherKingryan227 (DecreesActs) 03:25, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Do we know which side broke it off? I agree, it's hard to do it for Wheeler, who's recovering from TJS. – Muboshgu (talk) 03:29, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

No side is talking I have a feeling it was Milwaukee because of Wheeler's physical but don't quote me on that but I was shocked when Sandy Alderson said that it wasn't going to go down at all.Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 03:32, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, based on Sandy saying it's off, it's probably the Brewers realized just in time that they should be getting more than that for a year and a half of Gomez. It shouldn't have gone public at all. The Yankees keep these deals under wraps until they've got everything finalized. – Muboshgu (talk) 03:34, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

What are we doing with the Latos trade? Go Phightins! 03:37, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Not editing anything yet clearly because nobody knows who is all going to be in the trade nobody has be clear on who is all involved but confirmed the deal WILL NOT happen till tomorrow at the earliestKingryan227 (DecreesActs) 03:39, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Which pages need protection? Go Phightins! 03:40, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

My guess would be for sure lock Mat Latos and probably Alex Wood and maybe Michael Morse as they will be the bigger parts of the deal Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 03:44, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Not actually seeing a ton of issues there. Going to take a chance and leave them be, I think. Going to bed now. Pinging Bagumba as I think he's on the west coast and thus may be up for a few hours. I will be up in about 8-9 hours and will evaluate need for further protection. Go Phightins! 03:47, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Alright goodnight by the way Jorge Alfaro may need locking as he was being edited by the same people doing Wilmer Flores.Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 03:50, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Done. Aside: Muboshgu, this is why you need to be an admin ;-) Go Phightins! 03:54, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

(talk) it was announced that the trade fell through because of Wheeler's medical.Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 04:19, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

I think the Brewers backed out when they realized they were getting fleeced, and blamed Wheeler's medicals. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:45, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Hey can I start changing the articles or is this not official enough yet it says it is done http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/dodgers-nearing-deal-to-acquire-mat-latos-michael-morse.html Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 18:18, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

I don't know that Ken Rosenthal saying it's "done" means it's done. Bronson Arroyo too? Damn, Dodgers.... save some bad contracts for the rest of us. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:27, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Good to have money! :) Should wait for the teams to announce before changing articles. Spanneraol (talk) 18:29, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
WHY AREN'T MY YANKEES DOING THIS?!?!?! I'd love Peraza, Touissant, etc., whoever Steinbrenner money can buy. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:30, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Papelbon just struck out Morse to end that game. So clearly the deal is not official as of a minute ago. An announcement could come at any moment. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:51, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Just saw another tweet that they were still going over the medicals so I guess its not "official" official yet. Plus after this is done, Dodgers will have 45 guys on their 40 man roster so they may be looking to make other moves to clear space. Spanneraol (talk) 19:23, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Advocates for Hillary in Wikipedia

As far as I can tell, you're POV warriors with a beef against Hillary, and the four of us, and others, are trying to maintain neutral point of view for everything Hillary-related and not. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:46, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
@Muboshgu: Two points, or observations in response to those, what shall I call them? --- "remarks" --- of yours, User:Muboshgu:
1- I should probably not even acknowledge such ill-chosen words, but I feel obligated to stick up for and defend a friend here --- I know Leon Panetta, and he is a friend of mine. I assure you, User:Calidum is no Leon Panetta. I have worked with Panetta, mostly when he was a Member of Congress, and can assure you that he is not currently running around anywhere advocating or conspiring in support of the candidacy of Mrs. Clinton, as you imply in your snide snippet rant.
2- Caution: You are treading on thin ice here, User:Muboshgu, my friend, when you roll your eyes and besmirch or defame living persons with accusations such as those implicit in your comments above with regard to Secr. Panetta, Mr. Mook and Ms. Abedin --- not to mention grossly violating Wikipedia LP standards, and a host of other Wikipedia policies. You even felt it necessary, and somehow appropriate, to include links to their respective Wikipedia pages with your ill-advised remarks!
You have also, I might add, determined that it's somehow your prerogative to draw other users into your besmirching quips (User:Calidum, User:Scjessey, and User:Tarc). They may be fine with that; I have no idea. But be careful when implicating others in your poor attempts at sarcasm. This is not good, and, again, I caution you to be careful, my friend. You may shoot yourself in the foot, as we say in Wyoming. --- Professor JR (talk) 06:49, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
I myself am personally acquainted with the Queen of England, Brett Favre, and P Diddy, and over a delightful afternoon tea we think you're doing a splendid job, Muboshgu. Pip pip, cheeri-o! Tarc (talk) 12:02, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
If I didn't know any better, @Professor JR:, I could interpret your message as a threat, which is a big no-no on Wikipedia. According to Wikipedia:Responding to threats of harm, I should report that. But, as I'm Robby Mook and too busy to deal with every threat Hillary or I get, I'll let it slide. @Tarc:, I'll bring Biggie and 2pac to tea with me. They've been hanging out in my manse for the past twenty years. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:59, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

Thanks

With respect to this comment, I'm honored. Huma Abedin rocks, doesn't she? -- Scjessey (talk) 16:45, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

Yes, yes she does. (Maybe not in her choice of a life partner, though.) And no, that doesn't mean I can't be objective if editing her article. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:33, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

Zach Davies

His legal name is Zachary Ryan Davies. I don't have a citation for his birthplace but I can 100% assure you it was Puyallup, WA and not Chandler, AZ. He was born in Puyallup, WA, moved to Gilbert, AZ when he was almost 6 and then to Chandler, AZ when he was 17. Many sites have his birthplace incorrectly listed as AZ. Your Wikipedia page isn't accurate QPZM (talk) 04:37, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

I looked into it giving you the benefit of the doubt (I assume you either know him or are him), and MiLB confirms this, so I'll make the change. We require verifiability over unproven "truths" on Wikipedia. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:54, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Please be more circumspect with regard to throwing around warning templates. The talk page guidelines aren't nearly as bright a line as you seem to think. Tiderolls 16:19, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

I still see WP:3RR there. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:20, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
You see correctly. My point is that there would be no 3RR if you would stop removing the post. Again, this is a matter of degrees and perception. Talk page guidelines are guidelines. All I'm asking is that you show some restraint with regard to warning templates.
In this case, pretty clear consensus existed to close the discussion. But I do see your point about the subjectivity. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:28, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Derek Jeter Page Edits

Hi Muboshgu

My name is Dexter Jules, Head of Social at Excel Sports Management and we represent Derek. Thanks for the quick response to the edit I wanted to make to Derek's Page. When will we see the change? Also is there a way to make me an official editor of his page as well?

Thanks

DJ DexterJulesjr (talk) 17:57, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi, DJ. There's no way to become an "official" editor; you can just edit the page. Do keep in mind that if you represent Jeter, you have a conflict of interest. That doesn't mean you can't edit the page, but it does mean you should be careful in how you do it. I appreciate you're being honest and open about it. I already made the edit adding the NYDN source on Luvo to Jeter's article (we don't want the tone to be too promotional. I'm going to integrate this Hollywood Reporter article on him into his page as well, but I just haven't gotten to it yet. (PS. tell the other DJ I said hi.) – Muboshgu (talk) 18:08, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Muboshgu

I understand what you are saying and rest assured my goal is to shine Derek in the brightest light. I have also sent along your salutations. Thanks.

DJ DexterJulesjr (talk) 20:20, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

The challenge therein, either for someone who represents and wants to shine him in "the brightest light" like you, or for a megafan of his since his debut like me, is maintaining neutral point of view. If Derek ever did anything scandalous (he's got some amazing discipline in how he's kept his personal life personal), we'd have to cover it. If there's any other edits you want to make, feel free, but I will doublecheck them just to make sure they fit the key principles of Wikipedia. If you want to suggest anything else for me to add, I'll consider it case-by-case. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:41, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

It looks like you accidentally moved the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to the wrong name. It showed Anaheim in it twice. It appears to be back as the correct name, now. Bahooka (talk) 22:07, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. I tried to move it back where it belongs, but couldn't, and put a request up at WP:RM. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:08, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
Great. After all the going back and forth, it probably needs to go there for resolution. Thanks, Bahooka (talk) 22:10, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
The title is still broken from the vandalism, and we need an admin to fix it. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:11, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
