Call Sign Changes: My Thoughts (Probably Won't Happen, But...)

• WSWB: I don't think they'll change the calls. It may stand for its soon-to-be-former network, but would they want to draw the ire of a few Wilkes-Barre natives? Ahh, the joys of having a flexible call sign.

• WBZL: Change it to WCZL: keeps some of the old WDZL calls, but also reflects on its affiliation.

• WBXX: Change it to WKXX-TV. This will look as close to "Knoxville" as one can get!

• WIWB: Surprising how WXIV isn't taken yet...

• WUXP: Becomes WXMY-TV, a nod to its old WXMT calls.

• KBWB, KTWB, KSWB: Bah. Just change them back to KOFY-TV, KTZZ, and KTTY respectively.

Personally, I think WUPA will flip to WCWA. So far no stations have flipped to old calls as a result of the merger, so I completely disagree on the last point. I think KTWB will become KTMY, or even KMYS. Agree on WBZL. WRBU will probably be WRBX or WRBY, maybe WRBM. KWBP -> KCWP. KSWB ain't becoming KSCW, so probably KTCW or KCWY. Agree on WUXP. WBSC... hmm. It's one of those stations that uses the forced W as part of its WB reference, and it's not a CW station so it can't be WSCW. In its current form, its only previous calls as a separate station have been WFBC, so WFMY is a possibility. KUWB -> KUCW. KWBQ -> KCWQ. WTWB -> WTCW. WUPN -> WMYV, according to the applicable article. KVWB -> KMYV. WJWB -> WJCW. Kinda agree on WSWB, despite my asterisk. WBXX -> WKXX sounds good, but it is CW and not My Network, so something like WCXX isn't out of the question. WBDT -> WCWD, or WTCW as a ref to its old calls. WUPV -> WCWV. KWBT -> KCWT, and don't be surprised to see a change in slogan. WBPG -> WCWP, with P now meaning Pensacola, not Pegasus. WBSF runs the risk of pissing off either Saginawians or Flintians, so WCWM is their best bet. WIWB -> WICW, as I think WXIV may be more appropriate for a Big Four station, or at least one with a lot of news. KWBA -> KCWA or KCWT. KPWB -> KPCW. KWBM -> KMNT, after an abbreviation I've seen on B&C. WRWB, not a real station, maybe WRCW. WBUI -> WCWI. WBHQ -> WMNT or WMCS (W My Columbia SC). WBUW -> WUCW. WMWB -> WMCW. KWKB -> KMCW, after their owner. KMWB is becoming WUCW, so they aren't a problem. However, they're also showing MY, so they could be KMYC. KBWB -> KBXX, or maybe KDSA (new DS Audible company) or KCSA (for K CW Sucks Ass, since Granite is suing) or KCBW (for K Crybaby, because of Granite suing CW, followed by the W in CW). :) Morgan Wick 23:29, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

KTWB to KMYS: HOLD THE PHONE! KRRT-TV requested the calls. KTMY isn't out yet.

KSWB to KTCW/KCWY: No, and no. Both already in use, in Roseburg, Oregon and Casper, Wyoming, respectively.

WBSC to WFMY: You're forgetting about that Greensboro station.

KUWB to KUCW: No. Used in Coos Bay, Oregon.

STOP PRESSES! KUPN (the former KTVS in Sterling, Colorado), a satellite of Denver's KTVD, will take the KVMY calls! HMMMMM! So it looks like KTVD will go MyTV after all.

I forgot to add that I didn't check the availability of most of those. That's also the case right now! WUPA -> WACW, WIWB -> WGCW, KSWB -> KSDC or KCWF, WBSC -> WMSC, KUWB -> KCWU. I probably struck out on some of those as well. Morgan Wick 22:54, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

WBQD/WQII

From what I can find, WBQD is the UPN affiliate, and WQII is... well, I guess a non-station (hoax). The evidence I have is a three month old news story (so it is too old for Google News), and affiliate lists on their press releases (such as this one). I have information that is contradictory to what you have on the Network shift page. Last May, I wrote an e-mail to Bill Sally, who is the Programming VP at Fox44 (WFFF), asking him if they had an agreement with the CW. Here is my question to him: "A few weeks ago, I sent you an e-mail, asking if FOX44 would be offering shows from the CW network and you told to to write again later to have my answer. So I am asking you the same question today and hope that you have been successful with the negociations." And this was his answer: "We got it!!! Right now, the plan is to simply sub it in where we currently run the WB time." I received his answer on May 31. So now, we're in August and I was wondering why this information hasn't been confirmed elsewhere?!?Verotrep 06:29, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
