Images for cricketers edit

Hi. Please stop uploading and adding images that you do not own. Unless you took the image yourself, it's pretty safe to say that you do not own the copyright to the image. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:03, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

You continue to re-add images that you do not own the copyright to. Please STOP this. If you continue to do, you will be blocked. Please reply here to state you've read and understood this. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:35, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

I have mentioned repeatedly that the images I uploaded were done with the help of a tutorial. I was not aware of the 'This is not my own work' option, until a couple of pictures later. I'm still not sure how to change the copyright claims of the images a wrongfully claimed ownership to, so can't this be ignored as a misconception error? Moleoz Fire Walk with Me 22:20, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Please stop adding non-free images which are not owned by you on the articles of cricketers as you did to MS Dhoni and some other articles. Any images which have been collected from other sites are not permitted unless they qualify as fair use with a proper licensing. Please see WP:IUP which explains the policy for using images. See WP:NFCC, which describes the non-free content criteria. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you continue to revert edits by adding those images, you may be blocked. Thank you.  A.A Prinon  Leave a dialogue 07:47, 5 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

No live updates edit

For Test matches such as India women's cricket team in England in 2021, the only time the match needs to be updated is at the end of a session (lunch, tea and close of play), or an innings break. We don't change the game status every time it's stopped for rain, as we're an encyclopedia, not a news ticker. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:22, 18 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Point understood, will not do from now on. Thanks 2302(talk) 20:52, 18 June 2021 (GST)

Hi. Also, please stop adding bold around the points for the matches. This is not done on any other cricket articles. Look at the women's Ashes, for example. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:22, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

India national cricket team edit

Please do not add File:Cricket India Crest.svg to the infobox of India national cricket team. As explained on the article's talk page, the logo was removed from the page as a result of a discussion at WP:FFD. There is a long-standing practice to not allow non-free crests of specific teams or governing bodies in the more general articles about national cricket teams. Point 17 of the non-free content guideline regarding images goes a bit more into it. plicit 00:53, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

2022-23 Manchester City F.C. season#First team squad edit

Hi Moleoz. I appreciate you are disappointed by me reverting your recent edits to the format of the first team squad table. However, as you yourself have pointed out, it is usually best practice to first engage in a discussion on an articles talk page before making significant changes to content or format. You have failed to do this before you embarked on your changes. I have worked with other contributors over several seasons to refine the presentation of first team data on the Man City season pages and this current format has not been created without some considerable time and effort from us. You have tried to over-ride this without first engaging in a discussion and you have not yet presented your reasons for wanting to see the format changed now. I have created a section in the talk page to discuss this yesterday, but still you have not made any comments. I have provided my reasons why I believe the existing format is better than the one you propose and I have made some changes to the template to address some of its current shortcomings vs. your proposal. I have reverted the edits you made again this morning until that discussion takes place and I will accept the change only if there is a significant number of users who agree with you. Ratchet8865 (talk) 10:51, 6 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

alright what do i do Moleoz (talk) 11:03, 6 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Read the section on the talk page of the article. If you still want to make your case for a change, either add to the section I've created or create a new section. Just state what you want to do and why you want to do it and ask users for their opinions. If there is a majority agreement I will accept it. Ratchet8865 (talk) 11:12, 6 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Just a suggestion, but you might want to consider using the template (1992-10-02) 2 October 1992 (age 31) rather than writing each players birthday and age in plain text. With the template the age will be automatically updated when their birthday is reached rather than having to update manually. Ratchet8865 (talk) 08:46, 10 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
The template is Error: Need valid birth date: year, month, day Ratchet8865 (talk) 08:49, 10 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
The date entered will update itself when the player's birthday arrives, look at the code, the age is not there, when the birthday comes, the age updates automatically, so it should be all good.
Either this or I dont understand what you are on about Moleoz (talk) 08:50, 10 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
In my editor it just appears as plain text. ie. like 9 August 1997 (age 24), which won't update the age to 25 on 9th August 2022. I was suggesting that you replace this with a template which will update the ages automatically as you suggest. It may be you have coded this already and I'm just not seeing that in the page editor I'm using. In which case apologies. Ratchet8865 (talk) 08:57, 10 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
One other tip (if you allow me) based on our previous conversations. If you want to quickly revert page edits to a previous page version, the shortcut is to go to page history and click on the date and time link for the version you want to restore. When it loads, click to edit it, and you can then publish it as the current version. You then don't have to make the same changes manually again. Ratchet8865 (talk) 09:02, 10 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
For your first point, It seems to work for me, so I have a hunch its from your side, will see if there is anything I can fix to make it better. For your second point, thanks, will use that Moleoz (talk) 10:30, 10 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
