Panickroom spi
Hi Mike, I noticed you blocked user Panickroom (talk · contribs). Are you aware of this SPI and this User talk page? Strange... Cheers - DVdm (talk) 16:11, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yep, its been going on for a (very) long time. I'd say its a case of WP:DUCK, but I'm not all that familiar with SPIs, so I'll let an admin familiar there take the call. I'll go in for a longer block if there's more disruption from there. Lynch7 16:38, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Heh, so much for a calm discussion. Look, my only suggestion is: Wait. Wait for Secret of success to respond, and wait for the SPI to get over. Till then, take a break; go trekking in Pike's peak, or take a day off in Disneyland or something. The actual content issue doesn't seem to be so serious as it is being made out to be. I don't understand this extreme urgency in getting things done immediately. I'll ask Secret of success whether the matter is resolved, and if he or any established editor proficient in this says its okay, then I'll revert it myself. Take a hike. Lynch7 19:41, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Pinging User:Vensatry. Lynch7 19:41, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Now they will not agree, because there is SPI on me??? cant you get this??? finally what u will do is you will not retain any edit of mine outside of this SP BALU and I am a fool you kindly restore my version, then block me if I am a SP
(Panickroom (talk) 19:45, 6 April 2012 (UTC)).
- I have made myself clear. I am waiting for a fresh response from Secret of success (and have also asked for Vensatry's opinion as well and those of other editors). I will not restore it to any earlier version. Lynch7 19:51, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
I only wish to to wait for a fresh response on SP Balasubrhamanyam, If they disagree on this, they have to disagree on inclusion of AR RAHMAN in Tamil cinema, I will not accept crime on wikipedia
(Panickroom (talk) 19:57, 6 April 2012 (UTC)).
- Look, if you are concerned that your good edits (converting bare urls etc) will go to waste, don't worry, it won't. Stop edit warring; understand that I'm >< this close to blocking you. Get rid of your WP:BATTLEGROUND mentality. I've given you enough warnings. Lynch7 20:00, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
not only bare urls, I have contributed 6 published references, 6-7 lines of content, apart from all that I have also contributed that SP balasubrahmanyam is from andhra pradeshand has song most number of songs in Telugu films, now you get it???
(Panickroom (talk) 20:03, 6 April 2012 (UTC)).
- Fine, whatever good work you have done won't be lost. Lynch7 20:10, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Done. There's nothing left to do. He can no longer pester me through mail either. Secret of success 05:58, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, He just made a mess out of it for no reason; I kept asking him to wait for you or Vensatry to comment, instead he insisted on harassing me and revert warring. Le lo bhai block. Lynch7 06:06, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- No probs, and regarding ANI, is nothing being done about Ashermadan (talk · contribs). He vandalized my talk page by blanking it and inserting uncivil comments. I think there is no reason to hold off a block here, because, he rarely responds to warnings, unlike Ankit. Secret of success 07:25, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- Can you contact Fluffernutter or Bwilkins directly? I'm not very familiar with Ashermadan's edits (well, neither would Fluff or Bwilkins, but I've been involved in the Bodyguard dispute, so I'd rather not do anything about it). Lynch7 07:42, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've already done so, but at the moment, there seems to be no indication of his block. Never mind, I'll take care of it somehow. Secret of success 15:34, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Support
Hi, I have seen that wiki has many projects but never found one particularly for electrical engineering and technology. So I proposed a new wikiproject, Electrical engineering. I would like you to have a look and share your opinion here. Shriram (talk) 15:21, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- Its not really appropriate to "ask" me to support; that would be canvassing. But I'll support anyway, I think many engineering topics are underrepresented. Thanks, Lynch7 16:54, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm thats a good point. Shriram (talk) 17:29, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

SH 17 Mysore Road
There are many cities that have a road called Mysore Road which leads to Mysore. Confusion needs to be avoided. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 06:22, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- That's probably true, but isn't the one in Bangalore the most notable? (Or maybe I'm being narrow-minded here, because I practically live there). Lynch7 12:22, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Indeed, even I live there, but I believe we should have a standard format. Will bring this up to the Notice Board. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 14:17, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Do note that the Bus Station is referred to as Satelite Bus Station by KSRTC and Bapujinagar by BMTC. ALso, in Mandya, the road is called BM Road, while it is called BM Trunk road in Chennapatna. It is called Bangalore-Niligiris Road in Mysore. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 07:58, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- Its called MCTC. Well quite obviously in Mysore its called "Bangalore Road"; but think about it: Nearly no one knows that its called SH 17. Mysore Road in Bangalore is more than "just a road"; its sort of a locality in itself; so would it be better to name it "Mysore Road, Bangalore" or something like Mysore Road (Bangalore)? Lynch7 09:49, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, I was thinking...there are many more of these kinds of "famous roads" in Karnataka; Many of them are one single road, but they are notable enough with respect to the cities they cover; one example that pops to my mind is the BH (Bangalore-Honnavar) Road, which passes through Shimoga as well. In Shimoga, there's a whole locality structured around BH Road, which would merit an article of its own. What are your thoughts on making separate articles for each locality? (I hope you got the point I was trying to make!) Lynch7 09:55, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- I understand completely. Like Kanakapura Road and Bannerghatta Road in Bangalore itself. In such a case, a separate article, lke say BH Road, Shimoga, or BH Road (Locality), can be created right? --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 14:58, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- Exactly. I'll get around to creating some of them when I get the time. For now, what best can we do about Mysore Road? Lynch7 12:48, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi again, I'm still waiting for consensus on this page after about a week. Is it possible to take the IP quiz so maybe there will be more votes which will help determine consensus? Puffin Let's talk! 18:05, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- Well, the IP Quiz isn't really compulsory; I think you're good enough to go without it. I've put up my !vote. Lynch7 18:12, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 9
Hi. When you recently edited List of Google's hoaxes and easter eggs, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Serbian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

citation
I have 1 source cited 2 times as 2 different citations, I didn't know if there was an easy fix to consolidated them into one. Jtobyne (talk) 13:25, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yes there is! Use the "Cite" toolbar that pops up on the top of the editing area to give a name to that particular citation. To use the same citation the second time, instead of doing the whole process again, just type <refname="CITATION NAME"/>. Let me know if you face any problems! Lynch7 13:31, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

ConfirmAccount extension
Hey :). You're being contacted because you are involved in the ACC process, or participated in the original discussion in '08 about the ConfirmAccount extension. This is a note to let you know that we are seeking opinions on switching this extension on, effectively making the ACC process via the Toolserver redundant. You can read all the details here; I would be very grateful if people would indicate how they feel about the idea :). Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 13:16, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Indian names
Sorry, I'm going to revert some of your removal of Indian names. They were not done cleanly, and are causing problems: confounding the English with local-language pronunciation, leaving the local-language pronunciation but deleting which language it is, claiming the native language is English, etc. Also, in infoboxes where there is a place for the native name, there is no reason not to have the native name. We do it everywhere else in the world. — kwami (talk) 11:00, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
PS. I agree with you in things like this,[1] which was ridiculous. But we shouldn't give the pronunciation of the local name without the local name, nor a transliteration without the original orthography, etc. And as far as I can tell, the agreement was about the lead, not about infoboxes. — kwami (talk) 11:06, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, the problems were with the scripts. If you mean you'll be reverting my edits till there's a neat way to present them, then I'd agree. But if you want to revert them regardless, then I'd respectfully disagree: There can be a neat way to present them, probably something like "pronounced natively in XYZ language as: " . The problem was with the existence of the scripts themselves; I mean, you know how it is: Each person wants to name the article/infobox in his/her language. So it doesn't have to be in the lead, if its in the infobox, the problem will come there too.
- Having said that, I do realize that I need to be a bit more careful while doing this to geographical articles; it did seem a bit odd when I removed the scripts from some articles. Thanks, I appreciate your comments. Lynch7 12:44, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Kwami has opened a thread at WT:INB concerning this issue. I have replied there. - Sitush (talk) 13:01, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- I completely agree about the problem of everyone pushing the importance of their language, and yes, that can be a problem in the infobox too. But I think giving the Oriya name of Orissa in the 'native name' field of the infobox is appropriate – at least, it's the kind of thing I'd come to WP for – and yes, better a dedicated section for the details. — kwami (talk) 19:12, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- I understand the thing about Geographical articles; User:Spacemanspiff had also expressed similar concerns. But I don't see how that'd really be useful, because reading the native name in a script unintelligible to me wouldn't really help me much. If there's something like IPA, or IAST or something, then that'd be of some help, because its closer to the Latin script, which I can read well, and IPA helps quite a lot in pronunciation. I'd like to hear your thoughts. Lynch7 19:33, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- I'm thinking of it from the other direction: I come across a name in local script. I can piece enough of it together to make a stab at what the name is. However, I don't know what I'm doing, and so am not sure I got it right. I come to the article on WP, and yes, there it is! or no, it's slightly different, due to some subtlety of the script that I overlooked. — kwami (talk) 20:48, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

That is why I blocked the account, but I allowed the user to create a username that represented only him/her, not the company/website. Thank you, Lynch7 16:18, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Mike,
Coimbatore article came off a long bout of semi protection a few days ago. The IP vandal who caused it to be semied is now back doing the same thing (he restores the article to a version about a year old. no amount of warnings and notes makes him stop). Can you extend the semi protection for a longer time period this time?--Sodabottle (talk) 03:12, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
