Look Right Below The Table Of Contents And The "Story" Title. Between That And The Quote From The Game Is An Empty Space. Do You See? The Placement Of The Reception Article Does Not Matter To Me. It Was Created Solely To Make The Page Appear More Pleasing To The Eye. Understand?

Infobox changes

I've noticed you've been editing quite a number of CVG Infoboxes, changing things such as "ESRB: Mature (17+)" to "ESRB: M (Mature)" — which seems to give the viewer less information at a glance — and "[[Microsoft Windows|Windows]]" to "[[Microsoft Windows]]", although not doing the same for "Sony Playstation" or "Microsoft Xbox" — providing needless clutter. Perhaps you could provide some rationale for these changes, or maybe there was some agreement concerning the above which I've missed? Thanks for your time. – Quoth 23:32, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

I have been changing Sony PlaySation to PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox to Xbox whenever possible because they are the official names for those consoles. I usually edit Microsoft Windows to Windows because it takes less space and it doesn't clutter up the infobox if there are many platforms for the game. As for the ratings, almost all feature and good articles show them as T (Teen) or Teen (T). If you don't like it, change it back. You're correct that it is less clutter to not list the brand, that's exactly the reason I posted the above, you removed the pipe to the correct article, instead preferring the longer "Microsoft Windows" (see diff.) I'm coming to you directly to say this, as opposed to just mass-reverting your changes — or such silliness — because I've noticed you've been doing it a lot, for a while, even if they're the only edits to a particular page you make. As both infobox examples say the rating should be expressed with the more descriptive "Teen (13+)", etc., perhaps you should be doing the opposite in that regard, changing (T) to (13+) and the like. I just thought I'd query you on these regards to help avoid any unnecessary work. – Quoth 03:52, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

It also came to my attention that you've changed links from years to their equivilent "year in video games" entry. While this is acceptable when clearly marked, it unfortunately breaks the automatic date adjustment that the WikiMedia software makes, which is why it's advised to avoid, and is what happened in your last Daikatana edit (see diff.). Alien infoboxes

Hi we are discussing the two Alien infoboxes on the Alien talk page as I think they should be combined into one (people interested in the film may also be interested in the comics, novels and various games) and that if it was done along the lines of the Template:AVP one you did we could get the more information into Template:Alien using the same space. OK its done and it is the same size as the old Alien box but combines the two with more entries that were missing from the original. I've largely based it on your AvP template as that approach helps keep the vertical height down. (Emperor 16:24, 21 October 2006 (UTC))

Reference column count

Just so that you know, the CSS class "references-2column" can be used to make the reference list appear over two columns, so that you don't have to insert the column-count: 2; stuff manually; e.g.,

Currently, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars has two lists pertaining to it (List of characters in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and List of locations in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars). User:TTN decided it would be best to merge the lists into the main article and split Smithy Gang into those articles. I recently merged Smithy Gang into the list of chatacters by removing the non-notable characters, and I have asserted that a cameo section in the list of characters is valid, per Wikipedia:Trivia sections and Wikipedia:Handling trivia that uses Alex Trebek#Cameos as a good example. I have suggested that we rename the articles per Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting potentially controversial moves to something along the lines of Characters of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and World of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars or Mushroom Kingdom (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars) just like Characters of Final Fantasy VIII and World of Final Fantasy VI or Gaia (Final Fantasy VII). I believe if these articles are to evolve beyond a non-notable list, they should be renamed. For example, List of Final Fantasy VII locations was merged into Gaia (Final Fantasy VII), because a World article is notable, but a simple list of locations is not. That is why there are other secions of the article to make it a World article. It simply has not been renamed yet.

TTN believes the citations in the development and reception sections of the list of locations, books and magazines, are trivial sources. When I added that the 3D perspective of the game is reminicent of Equinox to the main article, TTN removed it since my souce was "the opinions of the Nintendo Power player's guide writers". Although it was actually Nintendo Power magazine, I do believe a magazine is a reliable source, and I gave a page from Next Generation Magazine which also said the same thing. In addition, I was surprized that TTN said that it was from the players guide, since he claims to own the players guide for the game. He has not verified this, since I asked him for citations in May, "Could you look in the back of the Player's Guide and tell me what “types” of … Magic? I forgot what they call it in the game … well, anyways, what types of Special Attack or whatever it is (actually, could you find out what it's called?) there are? I remember some vaguely when I owned the guide like “Fire”, “Jump”, “Electricity?”, etc. Could you provide a citation, like the page number with a quote in context?" TTN replied that he was going to "get to it" (User talk:TTN/Archive 5#List of locations in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars). TTN claims the player's guide is "at the bottom of a box that's behind at least five others in a cramped space". Seeing that TTN did not recognize that the page was not from the player's guide when I provided a scan of the page in question from Nintendo Power shocked me. However, I have continued to assume good faith by not questioning TTN's honesty.

Per Wikipedia:Consensus#Consensus can change, I have offered five different reasonable, temporary compromises that might integrate my idea with TTN's.

1. Go over the list of characters so we can delete non–notable characters
2. Rename the articles by following the steps at Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting potentially controversial moves.
3. Cut down the geography section list of locations by cutting it into the regional maps the adventures use when traveling from one to another. I can get pictures and write the fair use rationals, and someone can cut down the text that has no citation and does not allude to other media.
4. Write the concept and creation and reception sections for the list of characters
5. Write the concept and creation section for the main article

TTN rejected my compromise because it still keeps the articles. I agreed I would consider a redirect, but Wikipedia:Article size does not allow that, since the list of locations is currently 82 KB long. Instead, I agreed to help cut down the geography section that is the bulk of the article, but TTN rejected that as well because TTN states, "I am not interested in working on the article in regards to improving it." and "get past this "having sources automatically means that this information is good" mentality." TTN states, "I don't think they have or will ever assert notability." I have replied with, "Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, so if you don't think the articles will ever assert notability, we cannot yet know this, per Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions#I don't like it.

Confusion over italics for names

Hi Mika1h, I am confused over why titles like "GamePro", "The Electric Playground", and "Computer and Video Games" are in italics (ref: FreeSpace 2). Though MOS states books are to be italicized, I am uncertain if they apply to periodicals. The article FreeSpace 2 makes reference to these sites in regards to their online content as well. I didn't read the whole article through, but main things why this article isn't B-class or better:

• No development section

The intro states who the developers were, "Prequel and sequels" states how it started as Starlords and Emrich helped Simtext upgrade it. Philcha (talk) 22:44, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

• Excessive gameplay details

I've edited Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares and written Space Empires III, so I know how much is needed to explain the differences between these games despite their all being space-based 4X games. To put it in perspective: (a) MOO and MOO2 differ much more than any 2 members of Civilization (series), and this needs to be explained; (B) Master of Orion is a lot shorter than a lot of science articles (I've edited / written some of these too). "Articles on computer and video games should give an encyclopedia overview of what the game is about, not a detailed description of how to play it or an excessive amount of non-encyclopedic trivia.". Again, use video game GAs and FAs as examples. You need to use "cite web" templates or similar, not simply pasting the link with ref-tags. There are other concernes as well with the refs. You should have read the 2 "no-name fan sites". Jon Sullivan's has: downloads for the game, patches and manual; technical tips on running the game under modern OSs; a strategy page. Sirian's has a thorough analysis of the races and illustrates ideas on strategy by presenting accounts of games, with screenshots. If you google for "master of orion -ii -2 -iii -3" they are at the top of the list. Every other MOO site I've seen links to them (you can use Google Advanced Search to check that). For a computer game that's serious notability. If you want to argue about notability criteria, first read Talk:4X - for games, players are the ultimate arbiters of notability. PS: Jon Sullivan and Sirian are not friends or even acquaintances of mine, I've never even emailed them; I'm judging their sites only by content and inbound links.

Re citation templates, I've posted a suggestion at Wikipedia talk:Village pump (proposals) for a method of makng it easier to use the citation templates. Philcha 10:25, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
