Hi. I was wondering if in the US you could access this. Request: check a cite on EBSCO?

Hi Megalibrarygirl,

Picking you to bug somewhat at random from Category:Wikipedians who have access to EBSCO (well, and as a librarian I expect you've built up a large tolerance for random people asking you to find stuff for them :)).

I'm doing some cleanup of references and am having trouble with one that is incomplete and for which all details appear to be hidden behind EBSCO's paywall:

• Cody, Michael C. Shakespeare's "Alien Pen": Self-Substantial Poetics in the Young Man Sonnets. http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=aph&AN=40074851&site=ehost-live pp. 493–94

If you're able to and so inclined, I would very much appreciate it if you could get me full bibliographic details on this article(?). In particular: year published, journal name, volume, issue, ISSN/eISSN for the journal, and DOI or other identifiers for the article. If you could also verify the extant bibliographic details and the URL (it's odd that it doesn't lead to at least an abstract and just shows a login screen; perhaps there's a better URL we should use?).

Wikipedia Visiting Scholars

Hi there,

Just saw your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Barbara Jayne Orser along the lines of what you do when you don't have access to a source (btw Rhododendrites is my volunteer account). Have you come across the Wikipedia Visiting Scholars program? The idea is for libraries at educational institutions to to provide remote access to their resources to experienced Wikipedians based on shared interests. The Wikipedian gets access to the same databases, ebooks, etc. that someone attending/working at the university would have, and the only requirement is that they agree to bring some articles in a topic area of mutual interest up to B-class or better. There are some openings right now, but you can also indicate in the application that none of the current openings are a good fit, and we'll (the Wiki Education Foundation) will conduct outreach to find a match. Hi Ryan (Wiki Ed)/Rhododendrites, I have pretty good database access myself, since I'm a librarian. :) One of the things I really find frustrating is the comments from editors that just because they don't have access to a source, it's invalid. I have to counter this argument a few times a month (often from the same people). Does Visiting Scholars work with public libraries? My library, the El Paso Public Library has an extensive Border Heritage section (focusing on El Paso, Ciudad Jaurez and surrounding areas) which I think would be valuable to share with Wiki. The Visiting Scholars program is open to anyone to use as a model. The main idea is for Wikipedians to gain access to resources that help them to improve articles in an area of interest, so if the resources you'd like to share are not otherwise available, and/or if you have other resources (databases, etc.) that you can share, then it might be a good fit. As far as our organization goes (Wiki Ed), our mission to bridge academia and Wikipedia means public libraries are unfortunately out of scope for what we can coordinate/support at this time. We have some excellent resources here that no one else does--including maps, architectural drawings, photo collections and books about the El Paso/Mexico border area.
