Need for SOMEWHERE at Wikipedia for a detailed overview of late-WW II German high-output aviation piston engines

Dear Maury:

The PIPE Here...when I spotted your edit removing the content of "Hyper-engine class powerplants for the Luftwaffe" recently at the Hyper engine page, I had been wondering just where that content could be placed - perhaps as a suitably-entitled, full-blown article at Wikipedia - that the content COULD appear within, so it would stay available for reference needs.

A SIZABLE number of later-war German military aviation designs, particularly the ones still counting on piston engine technology, were depending on the sorts of high-output aviation powerplants like the Junkers Jumo 222, and I was the person responsible for placing the "Hyper-engine class powerplants for the Luftwaffe" content there in the first place.

If the "hyper engine" article is not the "best" place for it to be viewable, can you recommend a possible idea for a title for a brand-new Wikipedia page (if needed) for the content concerned to be placed within, or perhaps having the content still "en bloc" in one piece (at least for starters) at another article that already exists at Wikipedia, so it can still be accessed?

I'm firmly keeping the pre-edit version page in place as a bookmark in my browser...so that the content can be brought either into a new Wikipedia article, or can be added to an already-existing article where it might be a better fit.

Please let me know what ideas you might have, about my idea, when you've got the time...

Energetically modified cement

Mr. Markowitz: If you cannot make a constructive comment, please refrain. Your background? - oh I see it: no background whatsoever in ADVANCED material sciences. NO qualifications WHATSOEVER to assess. May I ask, do you see advanced Biochemistry as being more or less specialized than advanced material sciences? If MORE, what is your basis? Have you seen the entry for (for example) Pyruvate dehydrogenase complex? Or maybe try Histone acetyltransferase. Are they easier or more difficult than the plain English of energetically modified cement? Or is it still too difficult for someone who has no background in ADVANCED material sciences? Please KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE and please stop giving the appearance of patronizing the SUBJECT by ASSUMING it's a "mickey mouse" or "low level" subject RIPE for the "armchair lawyer" brigade. It was not my intention to call you names, and for that, if I gave that impression I apologize. I have worked on the page for a month, and I have come to the end of my tether with users making the mistake that this is an "armchair lawyers" subject. The page itself is considerably "dumbed down" - and you will see in the talk page I have done my level best to contextualize. It is WIP and a highly complex one at that - more than 20 years of results and field data traduced into a "snapshot" page to appeal to all levels of scientifically-interested readers. But there are some subjects that no matter how much one tries, there is a limit to which they can be "simplified". So I certainly did not mean offense, I am just very tired and after a month of quietly going about building the page, I have had a torrid weekend of defending it left right and center all because a certain user posted it for deletion without even discussing first, on Friday, notwithstanding I am a new user, never done this before and the page is WIP. I have found the entire experience very very unprofessional. I am a retired senior life sciences professor - and in all my 58 years, I can tell you this will be the only page I ever contribute to on Wiki. I am appalled my the "gang mentality" that quickly surfaces and how those who take extreme actions seem beyond impunity, whereas the "best intentional" writer is placed against a wall.

That is how I feel. After losing an entire weekend. And Im afraid your comment just topped it off. So I withdraw and and apologize for any offence. I hope this meets with your favor.

Antimatter-catalyzed nuclear pulse propulsion

Just wondering, seen as you appear to be the first editor/creator of the initial article in oct 2002, if you contributed the explanation for the fission event that is described in the first few paragraphs?

I do not doubt the explanation, but didn't find much upon searching for journal references that explain how the fission event might occur. Moreover I'm also curious about the method by which a pure fusion weapon with antimatter could be achieved, as ultimately it would appear to contribute to a low fallout project orion propulsion take off.

Either way, the new 1000 second record for storage seems promising. - I added that edit in the article by the way, so I'm not just being an annoying citation needed requester for everything in the article. Boundarylayer (talk) 12:03, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply, the mechanism is probably pretty involved with some heavy quantum mechanical explanation no doubt, either way, I added a bit about anti-matter catalyzed pure nuclear fusion in the article recently. I'd appreciate it if you looked over it?

Re : Some help with mapping?

Hi, Maury, I'll be glad to help you with rail mapping. ShareMap does not have currently function to import KML/KMZ (the latter one is compressed KML) only GPX, but I can do this manually.

So please do following steps:

1. Register on ShareMap.org, and let me know what is your login
2. Send me your KMZ files by email (contact#sharemap,org)
3. I will import it into your space on ShareMap and then you will be able to freely modify fix it (I'll be glad to help you)

Asher, you have now twice reverted my good faith edit in SS Edmund Fitzgerald. Your reason is that the edit lacks explanation. However, the second edit included a full explanation of the change, and your checkin note actually refers to my note, so I don't see how you could claim it is lacking. I stand by my comment that the edit (greatly) improves the readability of the paragraph in question, and you have twice failed to provide any reason for the revert based on the content itself. Looking through the edit history, it appears there are several other examples of GF edits being reverted. In those cases you offered no explanation at all for the RV, which kinda violates the principle you were applying in my example. In any event…

This RV removes a change that was clearly explained in the check-in note. Ship names do not have a "the" in the front of them. The details can be read in tiring depth here: Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(ships)#Using ship names in articles.

I am somewhat more ambivalent about this edit. Normally I prefer to include as many exlinks in an article as possible, as it makes the text more self-documented. However, it is also possible to spam link, so I'll leave this one alone.

I never said I wasn't guilty of the same practice of not explaining my edits. Since I am frequently undoing IP vandalism and edits from new users which many times don't make sense or make the article worse, I simple revert the edit with no explanation to save time. As for the revert regarding removing "the" from ship names, I refer you back to north8000's talk page explanation that the article went through significant review and the "the" wasn't an issue. Telex talk =

Hi, thanks for your interest in my Telex notes. From my own observations, the article seems unsound to be discussing Telex as a uniquely German phenomenon from the 1930s. I wasn't able to make a direct update to the article as I don't have the quality of information & the sources to hand that I would want to be confident in this; the references I gave are in a National Archive and UK Post Office archive and would need some hours spent there to extract something meaningful. And even then, I wouldn't know enough about it in an international context.

But I'm sure that there must be books or magazines that properly discuss the world-wide history of telex. The book cited in the article - The Worldwide History of Telecommunications - seems misleading as, from Chapter 50, it doesn't define telex other than a trade name of Western Union dating from 1962. This is plainly wrong as the references I gave show that "telex" was being used by the GPO from 1930. I would think that the WP article needs to be more precise and specify what telex was for, what its standards are (were) and as well as the actual history of the brand. Hi. Thanks for taking on the SAGE article. you can see from ed hist that I attempted to clean up this difficult article but I lost the will to live after a while. Will assist if I am around. I had the same thing happen… I was editing in pieces all day adding a short explanation of the whole idea of air control.
