Fokker 70, apparently in Hungarian

Could you have a look at Fokker 70, apparently in Hungarian, and tell us if it is worth doing anything at all with? If it's any good, we should copy it to the Hungarian-language Wikipedia & also translate the article to English; a quick glance makes me wonder, though, if only because of the punctuation in the latter part. You are the only person who has signed up fro translating Hungarian to English.

The Humungous Image Tagging Project

Hi. You've helped with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Wiki Syntax, so I thought it worth alerting you to the latest and greatest of Wikipedia fixing project, User:Yann/Untagged Images, which is seeking to put copyright tags on all of the untagged images. There are probably, oh, thirty thousand or so to do (he said, reaching into the air for a large figure). But hey: they're images ... you'll get to see lots of random pretty pictures. Also, that problem listed with Trinification is my fault, due to a bug in the software (it's replacing "\m" with a newline, when what I really wanted for was the special Mac newlines, which are ctrl-m, to be replaced with newlines!). Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

Britannica Pages

Hi, thanks for your help on the Britannica pages. The idea, however, is not to link them, but to create redirects, so that if people use that term it will automatically redirect. This is done by typing #REDIRECT [[Name of article]]. Thanks. Danny 02:29, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I know how to make redirects, and I made them for the articles where I thought they made sense. I don't think it makes much sense to make redirect e.g. for The Royal Air Force or The Royal Navy, so I just linked them without the "The". - Marcika 02:37, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

We've been doing that for all the redirects for a very long time. The redirects serve as a precautionary measure, in case people put in the wrong words in links. Danny 02:39, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for explaining me the purpose of the redirects. However, I think it is highly unlikely that anybody would enter "The Old Pretender James Edward" into the Wikipedia search box instead of "James Edward" or that anybody would wikilink that term in an article. I thought the sense of the Wikipedia:2004_Encyclopedia_topics page was to make sure the articles exist and can be found in Wikipedia, not to create gratuitous redirects. - Marcika 02:51, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Actually, that is a good example. He is often known simply as "The Old Pretender." Similarly, in some of the other cases, the word "the" is part of the title. I prefer to err here on the side of caution. Danny 02:53, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

A request for translation

I am a contributor to the page Heim theory, and would like to determine whether the material from this website [2] would be useful for the article. If you scroll down to the middle of the page, there is a 6 by 6 square with lots of colours in it. The few paragraphs after that seem to be describing what the colours are supposed to mean. AD in years

Hi, I was just looking at the Treaty of Mersen article and noticed you added "AD" after all the years. Do you think that's really necessary? From what I've seen, I don't think other articles of this time period do the same -Lensovet 00:57, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

Vfd on Faithful module

Dramedy

If you had waited more than three minutes before reverting, you would have seen that I was making the main page Comedy-drama and making Dramedy a re-direct. "Dramedy" is not a term I've ever heard of, and doesn't seem to be used as much as "Comedy-drama". A quick Google gives 68,600 results for dramedy (including WP and mirror sites), 9,670,000 for comedy drama, and 586,000 for comedy-drama. All the other articles in the category use "comedy-drama" not "dramedy", so I thought the article and the category name should be changed, unless you disagree? JW 13:50, 7 August 2005 (UTC)

I reverted because I was suspicious about an edit that was from an anonymous IP and that was a copy&paste move (moving by copy&paste is discouraged as that does not preserve the edit history of the source page of the move). I don't really care either way about the naming, although I'd like to say that you should do your google search with quotes around compund names like "comedy drama", because you else you get all the pages where those two term occur anywhere on the page, not just next to each other.

If you want to move it again, go ahead, but I would be happier if you'd let an admin do a proper page move by nominating the pages on Wikipedia:Requested moves. (That would preserve the edit histories). -- Marcika 15:44, 7 August 2005 (UTC)

Dan Quayle

You have rightfully removed Dan Quayle from the Indiana University Bloomington alumni section, but in doing so you inaccurately write that he attended "IUPUI Law school". This is inaccurate because no such school exists. Rather, Quayle attended Indiana University Robert H. Jacobs School of Music

I would credit its amount of awards to it being the largest conservatory in the nation (and the world?) not because of its quality. It's got quantity not quality.

I would consider the best conservatories in the nation to be Eastman, Oberlin Conservatory, Julliard, and the New England Conservatory of Music. IU definately is not up there. I'll look for some evidence to back this up but in the meantime what makes you consider IU as one of the best conservatories in the nation?

List of banned books

Edit summary

Hi. I've recently found a number of edit summaries on my watchlist starting with "AWB assisted ...".

Starting your edit summary with a link promoting some software makes it slower for me to scan my watchlist. It's also frustrating because I can't even run Windows software on my computer, so it feels a bit like you are spamming my watchlist (no offence intended). Would you mind setting your AWB software so that it doesn't add the promotional link to the edit summary, or at least so it puts it at the end, like "... using AWB"?

Seeking translation to Hungarian

Hello, I am seeking someone with English & Hungarian fluency to translate the English article Maurice Ascalon into Hungarian for posting on the Hungary version of Wikipedia. He is a Hungarian-born artist (1913-2003), yet his article does not appear in the Hungary version. Would appreciate your assistance.

I saw that on neck bands had been deleted as a "copyvio", apparently because it duplicated text found on Geocities on what looks like the author's own site. I have asked that this decision be reviewed and that the article be restored at Wikipedia:Deletion review. You may want to chime in there and make sure we know the whole story. I fear there is not much that I can help. If an individual like Folsom or an organization like his "Socionomics Institute" will gain a lot financiall by a favourable treatement in Wikipedia is pushing a positive POV, then no amount of arguments from disinterested Wikipedians short of an RfArb will stop him (for which I have neither the time nor the inclination at the moment). Hungarian translation help

Hi Marcika --

I've been working on a contentious article on Ignatz Lichtenstein, which is currently in deletion review. There's been an issue with WP:V because English sources about the gentleman are possibly just religious propaganda. I have scrabbled up a Hungarian source, a 1929 edition of Magyar Zsido Lexikon which mentions him but I'm not sure what it says. Could you take a look here under the Tapioszele heading (we know this is his supposed home village) and extract anything pertinent?

Dear Mr. Marcika,

I have searched for the truly correct form, as in accordance to Hungarian Alphabet, as — more important — in obligatory deference to the mathematician ad causam. Most if Erdős is the correct, original written form — as you have pointed so conclusively.

Despite of this, I think I took a not well founded decision. Why? Because, simply because "all possible sources had not been explored yet — by me, of course".

However, I ask you some questions:

1. Do you know sufficiently Hungarian Language — and, so, Hungarian Alphabet? I hope so!
2. If no, have you reported to/seen sufficiently well accredited source(s)?

Dear and zealous Mr. Marcika, if I am simply wrong, as you have said — and you, in accordance, naturally right! — then your reverting action seemed to be more than necessary: it was, in fact, an obligatory one.

The following website The Hungarian Alphabet shows the complete Hungarian Alphabet (with all phonetic issues). More: our notable Wikipedia, at Hungarian Language article does the same. However, since at ‘’wiki’’-environment, knowledge is always changing to meet that final goal (will us arrive there?...), there remains some doubt with respect to the correct form. Most when referring to a name carrying letter/sign from a extended neo-latin new set. This claims to care.

• On the other side, at the section "Collaborations", I have put all the names in alphabetical order. That intended to make that section much more quick and easy to consult, don't you agree? An others more... So...: Why have you reverted too?

Finally, for my yet deficient issues, may you excuse-me. For your — perhaps: I hope so!... — corrections, EgídioCampos thanks you very much. And Paul Erdős and Hungarian Culture too!

I took your name in vain on the George Soros talk page. Actually quoted you as an expert. There seems to be some chance now to fix up this article to FA status, or maybe just GRADE A biography, with out the usual SPAs interupting.

AS far as the Robert Prechter RfA [4], it's still on hold after 1.5 months. I've got no idea what's happening with that or why. Socionomics has been deleted. Elliott wave is undergoing contested editing with some outsiders involved - it doesn't seem to be worth the effort - but somehow it seems like Wikipedia must ultimately go down the tubes if somebody like User:Rgfolsom can just push and yell until he gets everybody to quit. Hi! I found your name on the translators list, and was wondering if you'd be able to help a bit with my attempt to expand Golubac fortress. I found this page, and I'm hoping it has some new information. All the boxes have several links too, though, and I don't have the foggiest idea what they are, though I'm guessing they're ads or something, since they're to a completely different website. If they're not, and there's actually more info in them, could you summarize what they're about, and I'll let you know which ones would be most useful to actually get all the details? Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:IU-logo-and-seal-small.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Having just checked whether the above heading is appropriate, I've concluded that there is some mystery which probably doesn't need explaning. In any case, nice to see your user page active. Under Shorosh again, you might notice that the pronunction has been changed to an Americanized 1st version, followed by a Hungarian 2nd version. Maybe this is the best that can be done, I've completely given up on "born as Schwartz Gyorgy." I'm sure we'll run into each other in various finance articles. Jake - I am aware of the potentially controversial nature of the article, but I think that my edit did not insert any controversial information. I just added the link to "swiftboating" as a term into the article header because I noticed that it was only mentioned 5 pages into the article... Since my edit is neither substantial nor particularly partisan (in my opinion), I decided to be bold and forego an exhaustive discussion pre-edit. Dear "John Foxe"! In my five years on Wikipedia, you are the first person to accuse me of vandalism. In your revert [5] you removed my sourced attempt to bring at least some semblance of balance to the lead section of Smith's article.

Please explain yourself: 1. In what way does my edit constitute vandalism? 2. How does my addition of two short sentences constitute a "major change"? 3. What do you mean by "undocumented editions" in your revert summary? 4.Why should you (obviously biased in this matter) be the ultimate censor of permissible content in this article? Sorry, I aimed with a shotgun to correct a host of miscellaneous changes yesterday, none of which I believed improved the article. Your edits, although they covered aspects of Smith's life already mentioned in the article, were certainly good faith, not vandalism and not undocumented. I apologize for lumping you in with the others.

As a non-Mormon but knowledgeable about Mormonism and Joseph Smith, I certainly wish I could be the ultimate censor of this article; but no non-Mormon could ever be such, Wiki rules or not. Airport's comment

Hey, Marcika. About the comment you added on this article, I think it's irrelevant for a ranking of airports if there were some "disturbances", whatever the problem is. For example, nobody is discussing about the economic crisis and its impact on the aviation industry in 2009, and the slump all the airports around the world suffered. If there is a "ranking" and not an article, the idea is to show and strengthen the data it contains, not necessarily discuss why the data is in one way or another. Cheers. Carbon tax calculation

Hi there: Just wondering where you came up with the new calculations for carbon taxes. I did the previous calculations and I'm pretty sure they're correct, e.g., the EIA reports 10.28kg CO2 per gallon. There's 1000kg in a metric tonne, so that's 0.01028 tonnes CO2 per gallon. At $12 per tonne CO2 that works out to $0.12336 per gallon, so your edit (changing it to $0.028) is not correct. Agreed?

FYI, I'm very new to wikipedia, so I don't know what the proper etiquette is about undoing changes, but I'm pretty sure that the original numbers were better than the changes you made.

Excellent, thank you. You also noted that the table needed a lot more work. If you suggest things I'm happy to work on them. My own thought was that it would be better to have the table list tax rates for a carbon tax of $10/tonne rather than the current $12/tonne because then it would be easier to convert to other units. Also maybe have two tables, one for short tons and one for metric tonnes? (Then it would be possible to separate out the gallons versus liters, yes?) Other ideas? In connection with our article on the May 25 Houla massacre, what in my estimation appears to be an important new source has emerged in the June 23 article "In Syrien gibt es mehr als nur eine Wahrheit" in the Berliner Morgenpost. Given that in the past there has been much controversy over introducing sources which contradict the main narrative of the massacre, i.e. that it was perpetrated by the Syrian government, or groups loyal to it, I believe a high-quality translation of this article is necessary to facilitate a fully informed discussion about its use.

Based on past experience I have requested a translation from you as well as four other translators listed at Wikipedia:Translators available#German-to-English. Therefore, should you decide to take on this task, I would ask that you either give notice to the other four that you are doing the assignment, or to me and I will let the four other know.
