What We Do in the Shadows templates

edit

As you can see at the history of {{What We Do in the Shadows}}, I merged the contents of {{What We Do in the Shadows FX}}. with my reasoning explained in detail; just over a single day later, you then split it to a third template at {{What We Do in the Shadows seasons}}, can you please explain this? (You also added in a blatant redirect; List of What We Do in the Shadows episodes is not an article.) -- Alex_21 TALK 21:05, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

I did not know you had done that. My aim was to create pages for What We Do in the Shadows (season 1), What We Do in the Shadows (season 2), What We Do in the Shadows (season 3), What We Do in the Shadows (season 4), What We Do in the Shadows (season 5), and List of What We Do in the Shadows episodes; I have draftified the first already.
Now that I know you did though, I do not agree; there should be separate templates for the What We Do in the Shadows franchise and What We Do in the Shadows seasons. The current template makes the original film and Wellington Paranormal look like footnotes compared to the television series. MangoloITCrowd (talk) 08:20, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
As I explained in my edit summary, before the merge, the franchise template failed the minimum rule of five links, and could have been nominated for deletion. As the episodes are still entries in the franchise as a whole, there was no reason for them to be split; the template now mirrors the longstanding example set by {{Westworld}}. How entries "look" in a navbox isn't relevant; a navbox is created and used to help navigation between similar pages. -- Alex_21 TALK 08:38, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
It will have five links when I am done.
1. What We Do in the Shadows (franchise)
2. What We Do in the Shadows (film)
3. Wellington Paranormal
4. What We Do in the Shadows (TV series)
5. List of What We Do in the Shadows episodes
Let’s bring that up to five more links for the seasons themselves, and then give the seasons/episodes their own template. MangoloITCrowd (talk) 09:09, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
That's still barely enough links to make a template, and I guarantee that through years experience of adding/visiting TFD's, if it were to be nominated for deletion by another random passing-by editor, then the TFD would close as "merge".
Valid examples of splitting episode templates away from the franchise template would be {{A Song of Ice and Fire}} / {{Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon episodes}}, {{Doctor Who}} / {{Doctor Who episodes}}, or on a smaller scale {{Futurama}} / {{Futurama episodes}}. See how they each exist as fully fleshed-out templates by themselves, instead of one having most links and the other only having very few. -- Alex_21 TALK 10:40, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
