Blocked

edit

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Hi Graham87, I apologize for unintentionally violating the Username Policy. It did not occur to me that using “Publishing” could be against the rules. My intention was never to engage in advertising or promotion; I simply have a habit of using this username, as it reflects both my name and my profession as a journalist. If it's acceptable, could you please change the username to 'Machtwort' and unlock my account? Thank you Machtwort Publishing (talk) 07:46, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

As noted below, you will need to provide a different username choice. 331dot (talk) 09:33, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Could you address the potential promotional angle of your block? What connection (if any) do you have to Kuhn Holding, which you mentioned in this edit, and why did you want it translated? See the plain and simple conflict of interest page; it's a type of business in which that page often applies. Graham87 (talk) 16:18, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sure. I have no personal connection to Kuhn Holding. I am a technology journalist, specializing in topics such as construction technology, which I cover for specialized magazines. During research for one of my recent articles on the latest technical developments in construction technology, I noticed that unlike other companies in this industry such as Liebherr or Kaeser Kompressoren, Kuhn Holding does not have an English-language entry on Wikipedia. Considering my long-standing intention to contribute to Wikipedia, I thought translating the existing German Kuhn Holding page into English would be a suitable starting point for me. Machtwort Publishing (talk) 09:36, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Each language Wikipedia is a separate project, with their own editors and policies. What is acceptable on the German Wikipedia is not necessarily acceptable here. Translating an article requires the user to understand the policies of the Wikipedia they are translating for. Here, a company must be shown to meet our definition of a notable company in order to merit an article- companies do not merit articles just because they exist. When you say you have no "personal" connection, do you have a professional connection such as having communicated with the company about your Wikipedia editing? 331dot (talk) 07:35, 20 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the information. I assumed the rules for company representation in the German Wikipedia applied universally across all Wiki projects. Having now read the English definition, I understand the reaction. Regarding the question about professional connection: Yes, Kuhn Holding is among the many thousands of companies operating in the field I cover journalistically, manufacturing equipment/machinery/products. Consequently, I have a professional, journalistic relationship with all these companies. However, I did not discuss my idea of translating the page with the company. The company was unaware of it; I had the idea of translating the page during research for an article on technological developments in construction machinery, as mentioned earlier. I attempted to rename your account, but "Machtwort" is taken, please propose something else. 331dot (talk) 05:40, 23 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I´ve been on a business trip. If "Thomacht0075" is available, i would choose that one. Machtwort Publishing (talk) 09:51, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Renamed. 331dot (talk) 09:57, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Great, thank you 331dot. 84.115.225.12 (talk) 06:20, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I noted that this is a translated page. We must attribute these to the source by using {{translated page}} with all parameters filled out. I have done this on the talk page of your draft. You may use this as an example for the future 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 09:15, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK, thanks for that, i´ll keep it in mind. But i do not understand, why the references don´t meet the criteria. they (exept the "Switzerland's electric mining dump truck charges itself") are all from reliable and strictly independent Newspapers, go in-depth and are secondary.
