PPI Research Update
First, thanks Mabeenot, I am in awe of the work the assessment team did for this project. The results from the quantitative metric assessments were amazing, really. Check out what your work shows about Wikipedia article quality - I think it’s exciting, but you’ve probably figured out by now that I’m a bit of a nerd. A summary is posted on the Assessment page and a report will be on the Outreach wiki.
Second, I wanted to ask if you haven’t done many assessments on the Student post articles, to please do a couple; articles toward the bottom have only 1 or none assessments. I know some of the material is pretty dry, but this assessment is the most important one for the fall semester and this assessment will be the primary method of showing article quality to the project grant funder. - I've had a look, however I see you have asked people generally on the project and it's really a survey with pre-determined questions rather than a dialogue-interview, so I have some doubts . . . . FYI the various music projects (especially Classical music and Composers) were flourishing until the end of 2009. Since then there have been problems and a lot of the more experienced editors have either left or become less involved. I'm not actually a member of that project, I just post on their talk page occasionally when I see an issue that might interest them. Public Policy Initiative Recruiting Assessors for Spring
Hi Mabeenot, Your work assessing article quality is really valuable and generated some excellent results from fall semester. The assessment process has been streamlined and dates are clearly posted for the upcoming assessment rounds. The Initiative has a lot more classes signed up for spring, so I would like to recruit some more Wikipedian assessors, and I was hoping you could help with that. I think community members would be more likely to participate if they are recruited by Wikipedians like yourself who have a good reputation. The strategy that worked last semester was to leave an individual message on the talk pages of non-adversarial Wikipedians. I looked for people by contributions to public policy related articles and those active on the 1.0 Editorial Team. I usually mentioned in the message what specifically about their work history made me think they would be a good assessment team participant. This is super time consuming to contact like 50 people, but only doing a few is not so bad. Also, I am looking for feedback about assessing with PPI, so please check out the discussion on the assessment tab, and let me know there if you have a chance to recruit some other assessors. Greetings. I noticed that you are one of the members of WikiProject United States Government that are still active so I wanted to ask you a question. It appears that this project is mostly inactive aside from what the members might be doing independently. I was considering suggesting that this project be pulled in under WikiProject United States and wanted to solicit comments from some of this projects members before doing so. As with Washington DC and the others the project would for the most part maintain its own independence but I believe this would benefit both projects. Assessment with WP:USPP is the ultimate!

A new assessment round is posted. This round is mostly starts and stubs, so evaluation should be really quick. WP:USPP Assessment 2.1
The Public Policy Initiative is super exciting this term. The topics are really interesting this term and the student's are producing some really good quality content. Recent numbers indicate that our project is actually contributing a significant amount of content to Wikipedia. There is a group of about 20 subject matter experts who are assessing, but the Wikipedians are so consistent, that I really need your scores to measure article quality.

Are you happy for responses to use casual language to the point of utilizing smilies, etc.?Or do you prefer it to be more formal? - Hi, I've finished WP:CRICKET here. I did a rough layout to guage how many picture I would need. Seven editors responded and it was a bit long, so I copied the style from the WP:SHIPS article. Hope that's OK. As this is my first article, I would appreciate any comments, feedback, criticism, etc. Let me know what you think, and also what you would like me to work on next. - I thought a bit about Microformats, and there are a number of pics that you can use – spider web (for the internet/HTML); signatures, calendar, banners, an atom, recipes, something related to geo-location, etc. These can all be used to illustrate the article, with good captions to explain what they are illustrating. New Assessment for article improvements with PPI

Another assessment round is posted. This round is the follow-up to the previous assessment, so it should reflect some big improvements to the articles. WP:USPP Post Assessment 2.1
There is a group of about 25 subject matter experts who are assessing, and last week I sent them a tutorial video on how to leave comments on talk pages. So if you see any newcomers on the discussion pages, please help me welcome them.
You are doing a really amazing job, in fact, here at WMF, we are using your ratings as the “gold standard” to test the Article Feedback Tool and see how well it works. Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2011-06-06/WikiProject report
I kinda wish the history behind {{Wikipedia-Books}} had been mentioned in the coverage of Wikiproject Wikipedia-Books. I created it and {{Wikipedia-Books link}} back in April 2009 when RichardF was attempting to add wikilinks from articles to the book subpages which were originally located under Wikipedia:Books (later moved to the dedicated Books: namespace). A few editors mistakenly thought such cross-namespace links were forbidden and had reverted many of RichardF's additions but creating those two templates helped fix that problem. --Tothwolf (talk) 02:50, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if you feel your contribution was left out of the WikiProject Report. Cerejota created the project's page in March 2009 and contributed the first nine edits. This is why we credited Cerejota as the project's founder. We did not do an in-depth history of the Wikipedia-Books concept because that had already been covered in previous Signpost articles. At the WikiProject Report, our primary focus is on the WikiProject. -Mabeenot (talk) 22:27, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- I suppose, although without the templates I'm not sure the Wikipedia-Books concept would have been successful since people were removing the links. I forgot to mention the September 2009 TfD as well, which begins to show just how much uphill the entire thing was in the beginning. I guess I would just like to see credit given where credit is due. GOCE drive invitation

The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting. This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated. We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". |

Notable Arts Graduates
Hi Mabeenot,
I added a new page Notable Arts Graduates, linked it from Bachelor of Arts, and moved the stuff you deleted to it. It's admittedly my first Wikipedia page, so could probably do with some help.
I think it's worthwhile to compile a list of notable arts graduates on Wikipedia. It could be a very long list, though it could easily be pruned for noteworthiness or organised by country. The value in it is helping Arts students to find career inspiration. Frequently, BA grads feel as if there is no clear path for them. Hi Mabeenot, I am a Wikipedian and researcher from Carnegie Mellon University, working with Professors Robert E. Kraut and Aniket Kittur. We’ve published many scholarly papers on Wikipedia and are partnering with the Wikimedia Foundation on several new projects.
I have been analyzing collaboration in Wikipedia, especially Collaborations of the Week/Month. My analysis of seven years of archival Wikipedia data shows that Collaborations of the Week/Month substantially increase the amount and nature of project members’ contributions, with long lasting effects. We would like to talk to Wikipedians to better understand the processes that that produce this behavior change.
We’ve identified you as a particularly good candidate to speak with because of your involvement with the WikiProject Universities' Collaborations, which is one of those we’ve been investigating. It would really help us if you would be willing to have a short talk with us, less than 30 minutes of your time. We can talk via skype or instant messenger or other means if you’d prefer. Signpost economics articles
If you still plan to write a wikiproject report on Economics you may want to get in touch with Jay Henry. He is no longer active but he was one of the more smart, grounded and interesting contributors to featured content in the Economics wikiproject. He does respond to talk page posts but you might have to try emailing him. I don't suspect he will return to editing any time soon but what he has to say about the general pros and cons of economics coverage on Wikipedia is still valuable.
