Features and admins

The best of the week

New featured picture by User:NotFromUtrecht: the striking facade of the Curve theatre in Leicester, UK, the city's main performing arts centre. It was designed by Rafael Viñoly, a Uruguayan architect who lives in the US, and was opened in 2008. We recommend viewing at high resolution.

This week's "Features and admins" covers Sunday 24 – Saturday 30 April

New administrators

There were no new admins last week. At the time of publication there is one live RfA: Catfish Jim and the soapdish, due to finish Wednesday.

No new articles were promoted to featured status.

One featured list was delisted:

New featured picture: Bronzino's 1545 portrait of Eleanor of Toledo
Featured picture: detailed surface structure of a rusty chain on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco
Eight images were promoted. Medium-sized images can be viewed by clicking on "nom":

New featured sound: two New Zealand Bellbirds, painted by Walter Lawry Buller in 1888. The birds produce three distinct sounds similar to chiming bells.
New featured picture: a group of Sanderlings, circumpolar Arctic breeders and long-distance migrants, wintering across the equator down to South America, Southern Europe, Africa, and Australia. This group was photographed by User:Mbz1 at Ocean Beach, San Fransisco. The Signpost was impressed with the composition, which is why we avoided using the scroll-across panoramic function: please widen your window if necessary.

Information about new admins at the top is drawn from their user pages and RfA texts, and occasionally from what they tell us directly.
