Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! Rsk6400 (talk) 13:21, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Captaincy General of Santo Domingo

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Captaincy General of Santo Domingo indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Manifesto of January 16, 1844 moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Manifesto of January 16, 1844, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ––FormalDude (talk) 01:51, 28 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Dominican Declaration of Indepndence

edit

Hello, Littleboyblue2000,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Joseywales1961, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged Dominican Declaration of Indepndence for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. You may find our guide for writing quality articles to be extremely informative. Also, you may want to consider working on future articles in draft space first, where they cannot be deleted for lacking content.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Joseywales1961}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Unblock Request

edit

To the administration team, I want to start off by saying sincerely apologize for my conduct. I am guilty of what I have done, my only defense to this is that I am new to this space, I have not grasp the full procedures on how to source images properly. The first time after my account was Disabled, I was shocked, but I didn't quite understand the terms of the cancellation of the account. I assumed that perhaps I could make it right by creating a new account and going back and properly sourcing and licensing the images to avoid copyright issues. But I was wrong, again, I later discovered that my second act was that if sockpuppeting, another term of which I am very much new to as well. I've now learned of the full consequences, and I take full accountability for both my actions. But I assure you that to cause harm, disruption and even perhaps confusion to an audience who enter this space to acquire information that is provided to the best of context was never my intention. Just like them, I too wish to learn, and in addition, teach others. I promise you the contributions I've made to some of the articles gives information that has not been seen by the public eye. I wish to continue feeding the viewers with new valuable information, and to treat that with the upmost respect. But in regards to my conduct, I once again apologize sincerely, and I ask genuinely to allow me another chance, and I promise to never engage in that conduct again. Dominican Declaration of Independence moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Dominican Declaration of Independence, is not suitable as written to remain published. While it appears to be notable, it needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. There are large sections which are wholly uncited. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I did this rather than removing the uncited material in the article, which I felt would be more disruptive. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask on my talk page. When you have the required sourcing (and every assertion needs a source), and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Good evening to the administration, I'm writing to you to present my second block request. I've decided that I will no longer be uploading photos, I'll strictly just be editing pages and citing reliable sources. I've learned my lesson about uploading content without considering of copyright.

  • @Rosguill: In what way is this user an asset to the project?--Bbb23 (talk) 14:53, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Bbb23, they seem to have spent a fair deal of effort expanding articles on Caribbean history. Spot checking them at random, while I wouldn't endorse every single edit I came across, the edits seem to be productive overall and I don't see any evidence that this editing work caused any problems that would precipitate a block. My understanding is that the primary issues with this editor's past record were a) image licensing and b) sockpuppetry to continue the inappropriate addition of improperly licensed images (following a block at Commons? Trying to puzzle together the unblock request explanation w/ the original sockpuppetry report). So, from my point of view, if the only actual disruption was related to image copyright and sockpuppetry, and the above unblock request proposes avoiding image work entirely together with a plausible explanation and apology for the sockpuppetry, then the issues that led to the block have been addressed. If there's additional problematic editing at hand, however, that would be a different story. signed, Rosguill talk 15:17, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Rosguill: The socking is not just about image licensing. It's also about editing the same articles. See this table. The sock made 65 edits to Wikipedia, of which 64 intersected on 14 different articles. I don't buy the user's story about how new they are, how inexperienced, how they didn't understand, etc.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:08, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Gotcha, in that case I misunderstood the issue at-hand. Oddly, it looks like their accounts were blocked on Commons but postdate this block by over a month, so image licensing seems like a tangential issue. In light of your comments, we need to see a more convincing explanation (Littleboyblue: is there another account that you were using prior to creating this account?). signed, Rosguill talk 16:14, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
No, all I had was just this one and the sockpuppet one. I only joined Wikipedia a year ago. Littleboyblue2000 (talk) 16:30, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
And also to address the blocking administrators remark about the edits I made under the sockpuppet account, those edits consisted of valuable information in which I did properly source many of them, so it's not like I was vandalizing those pages. Littleboyblue2000 (talk) 16:40, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Socking is socking, whether it's vandalism or not. In addition, even after you knew what socking was because of your block here in January, you continued to sock at Commons in February. I find your defenses and excuses at best disingenuous.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:50, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
So then issue was about Commons, like the other administrator said, because that was the original reason how I was blocked in the first place. That's why I made the second account because I thought i could go back in fix it, only to end up having that account blocked as well. I already addressed both issues in both of my requests and apologized for them. I didn't mean no harm in them, but I own up to them I pledge that I would only just stick to editing pages and away from uploading images through wizard. Littleboyblue2000 (talk) 17:07, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Bbb23 and Rosguill: Not sure if I should open a new investigation but the socking is very clearly persisting as an IP: see 2600:4040:AAD3:C900:C986:D784:4E8B:52F4, 2600:4040:AAD3:C900:C9FF:66A1:D163:8204, and 2600:4040:AAD3:C900:854B:98FB:BF10:8C1.
