Assignment 2 edit

I have some nice pictures of this fungus I can give you (remind me if I forget). Please make sure that you use italics for genus and species names. Also, don't capitalize the species epithet, only the name of the genus. Lastly, never use the abbreviated genus name when you start a sentence, spell it out completely. It would be worthwhile to say something about the asexual state of this organism, which is commonly reported in clinical samples and elsewhere. I think clinically, this organism was first reported from your infection (there's something about this in Rippon's book). I also remember Rippon saying something about pneumonia related to the species in chronic alcoholism, but I could be wrong. Finally, I'd prefer you to use the referencing procedure I outlined on the course wiki page rather than in-line referencing. This approach makes the source much clearer for editing and it also makes it easier to avoid duplication when shifting references around in the body of the article. Hello edit

Hello Lilitiana, great work on your article! I think it could be improved by adding some more information about how infected individuals are diagnosed with this fungus, as in what tests would they preform to determine the exact species (do they look at components of removed fungal tissue, morphology?). Also, I think some of the spacing is inconsistent throughout the article, and maybe it would be helpful for the reader if under "Pathogenecity", infections of different species were separated under different subheadings. Awesome job! Wendyxie99 (talk) 17:21, 28 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Article Feedback edit

Hey great job on the article, there is lots of information here. I found the initial description a bit confusing on first inspection. When you mention the athletes being killed by this particular strain of fungus I think it'd be helpful to mention what condition the fungus caused that killed them. For example, "This fungus killed three athletes from mycetoma after being injured in the 1997 Maccabiah Games when at the opening ceremony a bridge collapsed into the Yarkon River." You might want to split the thought up into multiple sentences to make it more clear as well. When first reading the text some people might be confused whether the fungus or the bridge collapse killed the athletes. Great job, solid work! Dbar22 (talk) 18:45, 29 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Great job Litlitiana, you've got some interesting information posted! Some suggestions I have would be to add some more description to the initial blurb of the fungus. Additionally I think the sentence structure for "It has also been associated with near-drowning pneumonia, being the most common fungal cause of this disease with a high fatality rate." is a little confusing and can perhaps be worded a little differently? Under treatment you've also mentioned that it is resistant to most anti fungal agents but mention that some antifungals have shown less successful treatment, perhaps the flow of the 2 sentences to could improved, they currently sound a little disjointed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JuhieAhmed (talkcontribs) 03:46, 31 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
