Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion

edit

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. Reported for edit warring not using talk page to get consensus about changes on Rick Pitino Theworm777 (talk) 18:08, 9 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

ANEW

edit

Hi, LexBlog, please read my comments closing the report filed against you at WP:ANEW. Also, be more careful in the future. A good approach is if another editor reverts you, don't revert back. Instead, go to the article talk page and discuss the issue (see WP:BRD). I didn't block you for the reasons stated at ANEW, but you should be aware that even if an editor doesn't violate WP:3RR (meaning making 4 or more reverts in a 24-hour period), they can still be blocked for edit warring. Let me know if you have any questions.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:35, 10 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank your for the explanation, Bbb23. I tried to follow the guidelines. I made the edit. When another editor reverted it. I changed it back. I think the guidelines said that was admissible. I then contacted the reverting editor with an explanation. That editor didn't reply and reverted it again. So, I considered that revision and made another revision. That editor then reported me. (At least I think that's what happened.) Your advice should be added to the page (can't take the time to look it up) that mentioned the edit then talk to editor. (Not sure that makes sense. Again, time issues.)

Thank you so much for your help. I will definitely be more careful in the future. This has taken a lot of my time.
