It's not that I don't believe your information edit

I know those characters ARE in the game or are out. Since the game is not out officially, you need to have Wikipedia guideline sources. Fans who have copies of the game early, it is not a good source. See Wikipedia guidelines for sources. Again, it is not that I don't think they are in the game or out, it's the nature of this encyclopedia requires good sources. Photobucket, Web forums, etc, aren't acceptable on Wikipedia. All the best.--HeaveTheClay (talk) 02:15, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mario Kart Wii, multiple same citations edit

I took the liberty of adding one single citation for all the unlockable characters, etc. Add 1 to each character (instead of the reference) to link to the N-Europe story. --HeaveTheClay (talk) 18:18, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just thought I'd let you know: some people are putting Holiday 2008 because it says exactly that on the US English site (whereas the Europe site is exactly the same with the exception of the word "Late" where "Holiday" goes - most Europeans don't refer to the Christmas season as Holiday). Re: Rosalina edit

Before you start another tirade, let me explain some things:

I did remove Rosalina from the article on 3/28. The reason was that, at the time, everything about her was pretty much given in the plot section of the Galaxy article. Plus, the part about her being in MKWii was (again at the time), speculation and had no credible source. We now know that the latter is true (and can be verified).

I checked the history of the article [[1]] and noticed that:

  • 1. Another user re-added Rosalina on 3/31.
  • 2. Subsequently, someone with an IP address removed her again on 4/8. I had nothing at all to do with that. That's not even the IP address of my PC.
  • 3. I've had nothing to do with the article since 3/28.
  • 4. After you added Rosalina back today, TTN reverted your edit. His reason? It would be best to explain when reverting. Rosalina is still too minor at this point. Wait until she appears in more games.

So what? Is TTN a vandal as well? Because he gave an understandable, concrete reason for his edit like I did?

I'll give my reason again: Rosalina is a minor character. She had one big role. That's it. She also appeared in one spin-off game, that has no bearing whatsoever on the series as a whole. It's not a matter of playability; it's a matter of notability, and Rosalina lacks a good deal of it.

There's a difference between vandalism and removing content that isn't note-worthy. Vandals have no reasons for their actions; they're just jerks. I, however, made that edit in an attempt to better the article. Remember, I said that if anyone found a problem with my edit, feel free to revert it. Hopefully, you can understand this, because I don't have the time to argue over something so trivial. ChromeWulf ZX (talk) 18:50, 18 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Little context in List of nuclear engineers edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on List of nuclear engineers, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because List of nuclear engineers is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting List of nuclear engineers, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. All of them? Are you saying that every single list of video games based on console only covers those three? Are you saying if I go to the Featured List Wikipedia page, there won't be a list of games that acknowledges Australia? Or are you saying that the only ones that matter are those that defend your point? - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:00, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow, silly me - I was so dumb! I totally forgot that there are only five video game consoles in the history of the industry. No N64, Atari, NES, SNES, PSX, anything else - ONLY those. And I forgot that the ideal quality of articles is Start, which all of those are.

Will you please explain to me why it is stupid to say "worse articles are worse than better articles"? You cite many Start articles. If all lists of video games by console supported your argument, and the one list left - the featured list - supported mine, you would, by default, have a worse argument. - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:16, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do you have one single Wikipedia policy or guideline that even implies being old means that it shouldn't be emulated?
Are you saying that if Pong were a featured article, it shouldn't be used as an example of a quality article more than a terrible article on a game that came out today? The only thing that matters is the QUALITY of an article. Being a Featured list means it is an "example of the highest quality on Wikipedia". Why shouldn't we emulate the highest qualtiy on Wikipedia? - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:22, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Response. edit

Check out Snowboard Kids 2 on N64's page. Are you familiar with the flag? Probably not, so... It's Australia's.
And of course, I bet you don't want to bring up video game articles, which are supposed to include Australia if there is a date provided for it.
The fact that all of your examples calls the region that the games are released in as Europe, even though the release date covers South Africa, a non-European, predominantly white region, shows that what they do hardly sets precedence. You're basically saying that ignorance is allowed because everyone else is being ignorant. Are you saying that these lists are edited from an objective POV? It is very rare to find any editors from the United States in the gaming spectrum who aren't biased towards a US perspective, and I doubt that all these lists are overflowing with them.
There is no guideline that ever suggests that an article should emulate a Start-class article. Is there also a reason provided why the third-biggest English speaking country (behind US and Canada) is not relevant? - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:32, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Response. edit

Um, so, you're saying that because Australia is not as relevant, it shouldn't be removed? I guess being the least relevant is all that matters. We'll just ignore the fact that the least relevant is not necessarily irrelevant.

Europe gets games so much slower than Japan and North America, I'd really love to see a single reason to remove Australia that doesn't apply to Europe as well. - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:41, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

And Australia got Trace Memory several months before North America. But of course, THAT doesn't matter, right? It's just some silly little exception. Until, of course, I find dozens upon dozens of additional examples. - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:46, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Regarding GameFAQs and Iron man edit

When you first said you added false information on GamFAQs here, I wasn't particularly interested. But now that I think of it, it's better to attempt to fix that as well while I'm around. Which version of Iron man did you submit information on, and exactly what information was falsified? Chan Yin Keen | Talk 13:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry mate, can't read that. I assume that it's specific to your account, so you're just gonna have to say what you wrote so I can crosscheck it with other sources and see if I can contribute to GameFAQs and rectify. Chan Yin Keen | Talk 15:01, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Response. edit

Yeah, great argument - "because these guys do it, I'm allowed to do it". I guess I should vandalize the article, since much of Wikipedia has been vandalized.

And I live in Minnesota. Nice guess. But even if I did, it wouldn't matter. I would be annoyed at the blatant ignorance of silly Americans - not naming names, besides yours - thinking that Australia, one of the biggest English-speaking regions in the world, and one of the biggest gaming regions in the world (with only North America, Europe, Japan, and South Korea being bigger, and the latter is only bigger because of the PC community). If you don't include Australia and Canada (which does often have its own release date, if you'll observe), the inclusion of release dates is not appropriate. The content is not of use to millions of people, and instead of making it of use, you brush them off as irrelevant.

The only question is "is Australia big enough?" And the answer is yes. If you object, the answer is "be quiet". - A Link to the Past (talk) 04:43, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Response. edit

You don't seem to understand Wikipedia policy. edit

You cannot alter my comment in any way. You are not allowed to slash out any comment I made no more than I am allowed to slash out every comment you've made. You don't seem to understand that - and I attribute this to poor grasp of policy. An editor is not allowed to alter another editor's comment. By edit warring with me over the content in my comment, regardless of your intention, it is vandalism. I do not wish for you to alter my post, so if you continue to do so, I will report you for doing so. This is not a threat, this is a warning. All I care about is getting you to learn that you're not allowed to do that, ever. You may get people more temperamental than myself if you don't watch yourself. - A Link to the Past (talk) 23:34, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

So since you do not intend on following Wikipedia policy on editing other users' comments and refuse to do so, I'm going to take it upon myself to have you blocked from Wikipedia the next time you make any attempt at editing a comment of mine. - A Link to the Past (talk) 00:29, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do not delete comments from my talk page edit

I don't know what is going on yet, but despite my slow connection, I plan on looking in to it. That said, do not delete any more comments (esp. on my talk page) if you delete anything else (comment-wise) you'll find yourself on the wrong end of a block for disruption. Btw, using "troll" in this case (in the edit summary) was also a personal attack, I'd advise against that as well. R. Baley (talk) 00:55, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

And I'm tired of arguing with you, Lbrun. All I care about is the future of the List of Wii games. However, so long as you keep attempting to archive the ongoing discussion or alter my post in any way, I will keep on. It's your choice what you want to do - do you want to keep on, leading to a block, or do you want to end this endless discussion and both users can go on with themselves? - A Link to the Past (talk) 01:00, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

There are no personal attacks, nor am I SamSandy (want proof? Actually read the discussion page). Check the discussion page for all consensus issues. It's a matter of WP policy that you are violating repeatedly. Consensus was reached on a section of the article and was added by SamSandy, you can't simply click undo over and over again until you get your way. If you think something needs to be changed, by all means, bring it up on the discussion page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.215.10.1 (talk) 21:09, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

What more proof do you want than screenshots from a very reliable third-party? And once again, bring this to the discussion page and quit the editing before someone moves to more drastic measures. This is getting a tad ridiculous. 65.215.10.1 (talk) 21:18, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Once again, not SamSandy. Believe it or not, more people than the two of you contribute to the Soul Calibur articles. I happen to be one of them, just more recently than ever thanks to a slow work week. Unconfirmed Status. Which is exactly what we have. We're simply letting users know that, yes, these characters are in the game, but it has not been confirmed whether or not they are playable. Again, if you want to keep this changed, bring it to discussion so more drastic measures won't have to be taken. Keep this mature and civil instead of reverting to a foolish edit war over something you don't agree with. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.215.10.1 (talk) 21:35, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
This is me, SamSandy. As you see, you're on a one man crusade against the concensus of the community. It was decided earlier that the revealed Revenant (and Frederick Schtauffen, since he's in the same situation) should be on the list, but since we don't know what category they fall in YET, we decided to put a new category there for them. Now bear in mind that these are not just ANY random characters shown in some screenshot, they are recurring, important, canon characters who are both confirmed to be in the game. Now stop the edit war and let it go. SamSandy (talk) 21:37, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

/agree. While a table instead of a list is usually nicer, in the case of Soul Calibur and the format you have it in, it winds up just being a giant ass list anyways. No, you can use the PS3 with any TV, but it is much, much better to use it with an HDTV. If you don't, you really won't notice a huge improvement with the graphics versus a PS2, but it is possible to use it without an HDTV. J.delanoygabsadds 20:45, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

ReleaseNovember 17, 2008[21]
Genre(s)Fighting / crossover

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (commonly abbreviated MK vs DC) is an upcoming scheduled crossover fighting game from Midway Games in the Mortal Kombat series, which will contain characters from both the Mortal Kombat franchise and the DC Comics Universe. The game's story will be written by comic writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray. This will be the first game in the franchise that will not bear the "M" Rating as confirmed by the producer Ed Boon in a video interview.[22]

Epic Games reports that the game is being developed using their Unreal Engine 3 and the release has been announced for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.[23] A specific release date has not yet been revealed, but a playable game demo is expected to be available in E3 2008 between July 15 and July 17.

Roster edit

According to interviews, the characters are being chosen mainly looking for parallels between the characters from both universes. For one, Sub-Zero seems to have been chosen as Batman's face-off, according to the game art and trailer.[24] Ed Boon has said that some of the characters' abilities, especially on the DC side, have been toned down to make them balanced within the game. A case of this Ed Boon mentioned, is Superman no longer as invulnerable as he usually is, for example he may now be hurt by Scorpion's spear.[25]

Sonya Blade and Flash were the next pair of characters officially confirmed for the game,[26] with Shang Tsung and Catwoman being confirmed in the first MKast (a podcast detailing the production of the game).[27] Liu Kang and Captain Marvel were the next two characters confirmed on Mkast #2.[28]

In a recent interview with Ed Boon, he confirmed that two characters will be revealed at this year's E3 conference and four other characters will be revealed at this years Comic Con.[29]

Confirmed characters edit

Characters are listed in alphabetical order.

Mortal Kombat characters DC Comics characters
Liu Kang Batman
Scorpion Captain Marvel
Shang Tsung Catwoman
Sonya Blade Flash
Sub-Zero Superman

Gameplay edit

A released promotional video for the game shows Batman fighting Sub-Zero and portrays new gameplay modes.[30]

It has been announced that the game will feature a story mode, playable from two different perspectives, one from the DC side, and one from the Mortal Kombat side, and depending on which side players choose, they will see the characters from the opposite universe as the invaders of their own.[24]

Gameplay-wise, the game promises to add several new things, as well as remove some old mechanics. For instance, it has been stated that there will be no mini-games as there were in the last two installments of Mortal Kombat (such as the Puzzle Kombat and Chess Kombat games in Mortal Kombat: Deception).

Intertwined with the fights there will be new gameplay modes featuring totally different game dynamics to the usual fight. These modes are "Free-fall Kombat", which is activated automatically after throwing the opponent to a lower level in the arena. The player can fight in the air during the fall, after which the winner will land on his opponent, which will probably affect the course of the fight; and "Klose Kombat", which is a mode you can enter during a fight, causing the characters to lock with each other and the perspective to change to a close-up of the two, to make for an interval of close-quarters fighting (much like in boxing games).[24]

During fights, characters will show permanent signs of damage, such as bruises, blood marks, and broken or torn clothing pieces.

Online play has been announced as a feature, but no further details have been given.

On June 24, 2008, in a recent interview with Ed Boon, he confirmed that all of the MK characters and DC villains will have fatalities, while DC heroes will have brutalities. [31]

Arenas edit

There are currently five confirmed arenas.[32] The "Hell" arena and the "Lin Kuei Temple" arena from Mortal Kombat will be available, as well as DC Comics locations Metropolis, the Batcave, and Gotham City.

Nintendo task force membership edit

If you are not already aware, the Super Smash Bros. task force (formerly WikiForce Super Smash Bros.) has very recently been merged into the Nintendo task force (formerly WikiProject Nintendo). As a result, the memberlist of the old task force has been merged into the Nintendo task force's memberlist. In order to gauge who is still active and willing to participate actively in the Nintendo task force, I have placed all those members under the inactive participants list, which is located below the active participants list at WP:NIN.

If you wish to continue participation as a member of the Nintendo task force, then go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Nintendo/left panel, remove your entry from the inactive list, and place your entry at the bottom of the active list. If you don't wish to be a member of the Nintendo task force, then simply remove your name from the list. One month from now, on May 16, 2009, all remaining entries on the inactive list will be removed. Thank you, MuZemike 15:02, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
