Regarding this checkuserblock and your note, is it possible to add information to the log or via categorization to associate the account with a sockmaster for tracking purposes? Is this another AndresHerutJaim sock for example or a new source of canvassing emails? Sean.hoyland (talk) 03:24, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Sean.hoyland I was unable to definitively connect it to AHJ, though hard to rule it out either. Best, KevinL (aka L235 · t · c) 03:42, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks. No problem. Sean.hoyland (talk) 03:45, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
By the way, do you happen to know whether the privilege that allows an account to send emails is triggered after an edit count threshold is reached e.g. 10 edits, or is it automatically granted on registration? The fact that there is an "Allow emails from brand-new users" option in preferences seems to imply that the privilege is enabled immediately for new users rather than after an edit count threshold is reached. @Sean.hoyland "Send email to other users (sendemail)" is granted to all registered users. KevinL (aka L235 · t · c) 14:04, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks. There goes the idea of looking for new accounts that stop editing after a few edits... Sean.hoyland (talk) 14:26, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question regarding the Gaza Strip famine move request close edit

Hello, I hope this message finds you well.

I had a question: Is it proper to consider the (unsuccessful) canvassing as a factor when assessing vote count? I think the close is suboptimal but potentially acceptable, and was wondering about this as part of the justification.

I hope this is the appropriate channel for this, and apologise if it isn’t :) FortunateSons (talk) 19:52, 2 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@FortunateSons: All good, and apologies for the delay. It is not, in itself, inappropriate to consider the mass email canvassing in the close. I haven't looked deeply into whether this specific close used it appropriately. Best, KevinL (aka L235 · t · c) 22:02, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
No worries, and thank you for the feedback. I think the close is in a grey zone in general, but as it is a no consensus close with crystal being a core issue, I think reviewing it is pointless as we can simply wait a few months. FortunateSons (talk) 09:22, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
