@Lixxx235:

Hi, you asked me to let you know when I made changes per your notes to the page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Gabriel_Campisi.

I went ahead and reworded the line that came across as too promotional. I hope that it is okay this time. If not, please advise and I will fix some more.

Thank you for your time and for your help. I sincerely appreciate it.  :)

Hi, again, Lixxx235:

Thanks for jumping in back there and for your help. I sincerely appreciate it. I will update the files and resubmit. Thank you again. I really, really, really appreciate your help. Thank you for being so nice and so professional!  :)

Allen Gentryallen (talk) 23:52, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

@Lixxx235:

Hi, again. I went ahead and got all the exact information from several sources, newspapers, magazines, and added the exact dates, times, even pages to the submission.

Please let me know if this will work, or if I need to get more information. Thank you again for all of your help. I sincerely appreciate it.

@Lixxx235:

Hi, Lixxx235. Thank you for your help in setting up my friend's page. I sincerely appreciate it.

Can you help me with one more thing? I posted the PHOTO for him, and he sent in a PERMISSION email to the proper email address, but a notice just went up on his page that says it has NOT RECEIVED the email. It was sent many weeks ago. The "wording" in the email was as it was suggested/recommended here on Wikipedia.

Could you advise me on what to do next? Thank you so much!

AllenGentryallen (talk) 00:57, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

@Lixxx235:

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the page. It's: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriel_Campisi.

The photo on the right of the page is the photo I'm referring to.

A million thank you's!  :)

Huggle message

Hey Lixxx235! You are receiving this message because you are subscribed at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members#Beta_testers

I have recently launched a new downloads for beta testers that contains nightly builds of huggle, eg. versions that are built every day from our master branch and contains latest huggle. These builds are currently provided only for Windows and Ubuntu. You can find them here: http://huggle.wmflabs.org/builds/

Please keep in mind that these don't have any automatic updates and if you download and start using nightly build, you will need to update it yourself! So don't get yourself to running old version, it's possible to install both stable and nightly huggle, which is what I suggest.

Keep the bug reports coming to phabricator: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/create/?projects=Huggle Many thanks! Petrb (talk) 09:59, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Ping Food

I do not agree with your deletion of my entry on the List of Onomatopoeias. Ping Food is in common usage, a quick look at Google will show you a number of instances including the Urban Dictionary here [1]. The term will still be an Onomatopoeia's Word even if it was used by a small minority of people. Ping Food exists, I have reinstated it. Canol (talk) 09:43, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks

for your second. That was so strange a sequence of events. While I was composing the editors nomination I get a 'notification' that he had just visited my talk page. Talk about "the universe supports you". How have you been? Did you keep up-to-date on all the drama at the nomination page and at the project talk page? It was something to be sure. The sad part about it was that the tussle between editors at the Project talk meant that the Consultation came to a screeeeeching stop. Did you think maybe of contributing to the Draft for the Signpost article? BTW, There is a project maybe you can help me with. The original Project page is outdated and needs a serious upgrade. You did a GREAT job on the eddybox for this weeks Awardee. You seem to understand the creative side of the page...that I try not to just repeat what was said in the nomination and that the image have a "that's cool" connection to the awardee. Would you be interested in taking over the role of eddybox creator? . Buster Seven Talk 19:56, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

I meant This. Yea, The bio was already there. Great, I usually start creating right when an editor gets seconded...or I'm sure the nomination is gonna pass vetting. Please advise. I am new at this and taking a class, but am rather frustrated. Thank you.Suz956 (talk) 02:29, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

@Suz956: Alright. Quite simply, for something to merit a separate Wikipedia article, it must be shown to be notable. Notability is established through multiple independent, reliable secondary sources reporting on the subject. Youtube, blogs, and primary sources are not independent reliable secondary sources. Things like newspapers are. Please add independent reliable secondary sources to establish notability.
On another note, you said you are taking a class. Congratulations and welcome to the arbitration clerk team!

Hi Lixxx235. We have added you to the list of clerks and subscribed you to the mailing list (info: WP:AC/C#clerks-l). Welcome, and I look forward to working with you! To adjust your subscription options for the mailing list, see the link at mail:clerks-l. The mailing list works in the usual way, and the address to which new mailing list threads can be sent is clerks-l lists.wikimedia.org. Useful reading for new clerks is the procedures page, WP:AC/C/P, but you will learn all the basic components of clerking on-the-job.

New clerks begin as a trainee, are listed as such at WP:AC/C#Personnel, and will remain so until they have learned all the aspects of the job. When you've finished training, which usually takes a couple of/a few months, then we'll propose to the Committee that you be made a full clerk. As a clerk, you'll need to check your e-mail regularly, as the mailing list is where the clerks co-ordinate (an on-wiki co-ordination page also exists but is not used nearly as much). If you've any questions at any point of your traineeship, simply post to the mailing list.

Lastly, it might be useful if you enter your timezone into WP:AC/C#Personnel (in the same format as the other members have), so that we can estimate when we will have clerks available each day; this is, of course, at your discretion. Again, welcome! Regards, Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 11:56, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

what happens to the requests, motions etc. you delete, and how can such evidence be found?

Hi,

I've made comments at arbcom proceeding that required using evidence on pages you (or perhaps others) have deleted, and the deletions makes such evidence very hard to find. e.g. if I'm look for the number of times a request against an editor was initiated and commented on, I have to know that it existed and was deleted and go through various editors contributions to find it. What is the purpose of completely deleting such evidence? (I had to do this for a current issue before the arbs.) Thanks, EChastain (talk) 14:14, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

@EChastain: Hi. I believe all the ARCA requests should be archived in the talk page of the decision, and it was in my own clumsiness that I did not do that. Cheers, --L235 (talk) As a courtesy, please ping me when replying. 14:52, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks so much for responding. I'm having a very difficult time finding the arbcom pages. I only recently discovered Category:Wikipedia arbitration, because I noticed User:Liz adding it to pages. I recently added a comment to User:Roger Davies about a deleted request relevant to a current discussion, Eric Corbett 2 but because it was deleted I had to hunt through various editors' contributions to find it. Only Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement#Eric_Corbett (the first request) exists.

I recently added a category for Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions/Log because I was tired of always hunting for it. Even now I had difficulty finding it, but at least I know it's in a category somewhere.

Since Wikipedia talk:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Interactions at GGTF has no category, there is no way of finding it. I tried to add a category but you removed it, so I'm starting to keep a list of these for myself because there's no other way of finding these discussions about motions that have been deleted but are still relevant.

I believe the same problem exists for requests for arbitration that have been declined and therefore deleted. This makes understanding arbitration goings on very difficult to follow. If I wanted to request a case, how would I know that the same or similar request has been declined previously? EChastain (talk) 15:58, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps Wikipedia:Arbitration/Index is your friend?  Roger Davies talk 16:09, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
@EChastain: I'm very sorry, you'll have to find someone more experienced than me to ask these questions to- I'm quite a new trainee clerk right now. My personal advice would be to create a page in userspace for tracking the discussions and decisions most relevant to you. Best, --L235 (talk) As a courtesy, please ping me when replying. 16:07, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

(ec)::: EChastain, I saw that I was pinged so I thought I'd respond. You can search by account name at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Index and Wikipedia talk:Arbitration/Requests. The archives for the arbitration committee are a bit disorganized. And it is not uncommon to delete a lot of information from a case once it has been closed. I've raised this question before and was told to just go into the page history because it is usually a large deletion that is pretty obvious. Sorry for butting in, L235. Liz Read! Talk! 16:08, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Thanks Liz, it's only through your efforts that I've been able to find anything. Yes, quite a bit of info has been deleted that isn't revealed by history. I've tried going to the history, but I have given up finding anything that way. Roger Davies, the Wikipedia:Arbitration/Index is not very useful for me to find deleted pages, perhaps because I don't know the exact wording to use to bring up anything productive regarding what I'm looking for. e.g. the deleted request and the deleted motion I mentioned above. What would I put in the "Search" for the Index to product these? Thanks, EChastain (talk) 16:23, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
EChastain, I used to work a lot with Wikipedia Categories last year and was interested in recategorizing the pages related to arbitration (including archives) because it is confusing but decided it was best done by someone more familiar with ARBCOM. You can try posting your question on Wikipedia talk:Arbitration Committee/Noticeboard or Wikipedia talk:Arbitration Committee/Clerks but be sure to ping an arbitrator or clerk so they will see your question. These talk pages don't always have a lot of traffic. Liz Read! Talk! 16:42, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion Liz. I may do that, but it was exhausting to find the links to make my posts above and probably it won't be worth the effort. Maybe I will in the future. I tried adding a category to a deleted motion relevant to a current request that is still ongoing, but it was reverted by Lixxx235. Hence my question here. EChastain (talk) 17:06, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I looked at those pages suggested by Liz, but neither seem appropriate, so I've asked Roger Davies. EChastain (talk) 17:46, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
@EChastain: The main reason I reverted your edit was that you added Category:Wikipedia arbitration archives, a category for holding historical or outdated arb policies/information pages. However, if you want to create a page in userspace to list all the talk pages of RfArs, be my guest. --L235 (talk) As a courtesy, please ping me when replying. 17:43, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
yes, this is why I'll just give up. I couldn't create a userspace with anything meaningful because I've spent most of my days trying to find arbcom links to post in a current dispute, and every day I find some hidden discussion of something, or I lose a page because it's been deleted and I try to find it unsuccessfully. I think, perhaps, arbcom doesn't want to to be understood by editors like me. EChastain (talk) 02:38, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Idea

I roam around a lot in my free time (?) looking for candidates. When I find one, I'm always tempted to get someone that has worked with the editor to make the nomination. I usually do it via email. Of the perhaps 12 attempts Ive made maybe only 4 have worked out perfectly. The others didn't go the way I had planned and I wound up making the Nomination. If you look at the history of "who" nominates you will find many repeaters like you and me, John Carter, Khazar2 before he retired. My idea is to create a separate, well-hidden page somewhere in WER-World where we (you and I and anyone else that wants to) could list the editors we have discovered and see as good candidates. Maybe they sit there for a week or two...waiting for someone new to grab the incentive and nominate. One of my goals is always to "widen the circle" of editors that are active participants in the many processes. Just thinking out loud> . Buster Seven Talk 17:24, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

@Buster7: That's a really good idea. I have several editors in mind I've been wanting to nominate but didn't quite know well enough to write a good nomination. If you want to create that page and email me with the link, that'd be greatly appreciated. (I would, but the ArbCom clerk think is a bit time consuming right now as I read through the mailing list archives; I should have more time as I get used to things.) Cheers, --L235 (talk) As a courtesy, please ping me when replying. 17:39, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

TKOP and GGTF

Hello, Lixxx235. Here's a question for you. I'm looking at Wikipedia talk:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Interactions at GGTF#Motion: Two kinds of pork banned - February 2015. Does this mean that TKOP is indefinitely banned from the English Language Wikipedia, and may request reconsideration after twelve months, as it says? Or does this mean that TKOP is not banned, because "7 support or oppose votes are a majority", and the vote was "opposed" by 8 to 4? I don't have a dog in this fight, I'm just trying to understand what the decision was. Mudwater (Talk) 00:54, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

@Mudwater: Hi Mudwater. Sorry, the wording isn't too clear. That means that TKOP is not banned. Cheers, --L235 (talk) As a courtesy, please ping me when replying. 01:17, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm not too familiar with the different arbitration processes, though I've edited a bunch of articles. Wouldn't it be a lot easier to understand if the closed discussion had a summary at the top, saying that the motion had not passed? That's my opinion anyway. Mudwater (Talk) 01:51, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Not sure; WP:AC/C/P says only to mark "enacted" if it passes, nothing about saying "not enacted". I'll check with other clerks. Cheers, --L235 (talk) As a courtesy, please ping me when replying. 01:53, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Semi-protection is only effective against unregistered IP vandals — registered users accrue "autoconfirmed" status so quickly and easily that they can just jump right over a semi with about as much difficulty as a military tank running over a thumbtack. And even "indefinite" protection isn't permanent protection — it can come off as soon as any administrator at all decides that the problem is over. I've taken it back down to pending changes now, because the editor in question has been userblocked for another reason — but semi wouldn't have stopped them originally. Bearcat (talk) 02:12, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

(edit conflict)@Bearcat: Hi, thanks for the response. I'm aware of the low difficulty of obtaining autoconfirmed; however, it takes only one (or two) click(s) to revert an edit, which is much shorter than it takes to obtain autoconfirmed. I still believe the protection was unfair and against policy; however, I appreciate your unprotection. Not being a sysop, it's hard to give suggestions like this, but in the future, please be more careful with admin actions; WP:BOLD doesn't apply to them. Design-Expert

Hello! I noticed that you placed an advert tag on the Design-Expert article I authored. I will be happy to make whatever changes are needed, but would it be possible for you to give me 1-2 examples of text that could/should be changed? Any advice or suggestions you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!Braedon Farr (talk) 18:44, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

@Braedon Farr: Hi, thanks for the note. The entire article seems like a bit of an advertisement to me; change the note so that instead of touting its achievements, you use secondary (and reliable, independent, and neutral) sources and be as neutral as possible. (As an example, the section "Typical applications" should probably just be deleted and replaced by something else.) Best of luck, --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 18:52, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Merged sections. --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 20:00, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello! I'm sorry to bother you but I encountered a problem that I'm hoping you can help me with. An orphan tag was also placed on the Design-Expert page. I found a reference to Design-Expert in the article "Multifactor design of experiments software" and added a backlink to the Design-Expert page. However, the backlink I added (see under the "Use of Software" sub-head) doesn't seem to recognize the Design-Expert page. When I click on the backlink, I'm told that the Design-Expert page doesn't exist. I wonder if the problem lies in the fact that the single dash in the title of the Design-Expert page appears to be longer than the single dash in the Design-Expert reference I backlinked and thus the latter doesn't recognize the former. Or perhaps there is something else that I'm missing...?

Any insight you can offer will be appreciated!Braedon Farr (talk) 19:54, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

@Braedon Farr: Fixed. The article title used an ndash, while the link used a hyphen. Cheers, --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 20:00, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

What could be changed to reflect a more encyclopedic entry? Were there any specific parts that made you come to this conclusion?

204.169.244.209 (talk) 18:06, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello IP, there are a number of issues with this draft, least of all it sounding like someone writing a history report for their economics class. A Wikipedia article needs to avoid flowery language, weasel words, and vague claims such as "Many other servers exist." The leads to the largest issue: the number of unsourced claims made in the draft. Examples include "Some third party servers claim to have thousands of players" and "[they] are still in a beta phase and missing features found on the original servers." If a claim is made, it needs to be references with reliable sources. If you want more help, stop by the Teahouse, the IRC channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Request on 20:18:11, 25 February 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by 98.173.237.190

My article on Lamine Gueye's Law was rejected for not being notable enough. I am confused, as the law was a very important historical event, culminating in the granting of French citizenship to millions of people. Also, there is a wikipedia article on this law in the French language wikipedia, so why is it not OK to have one in the English language wikipedia? Thank you, Heather Alexander 98.173.237.190 (talk) 20:18, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

  • (Friendly stalker)..Yes. The law sounds like a very important event for many people. That is why it is worthy of more than just a simple paragraph of limited information and value. I'm sure that you will be able to research and find many sources that will provide vast quantities of facts that, when properly used, will create a splendid article. Wikipedia articles are always evolving. They are rarely static. This article is in its earliest stage and needs a lot of time and attention. Good luck with your endeavor. Learning is in the doing. . Hi my revolution bioengineering Wikipedia page was rejected due to seeming like an advertisement. I don't see this as the case because there are no opinions, it's written in a neutral point of view, and it is purely fact based. It does contain sources from press releases about the company however this is the only source of detailed information about the company. My article also contains many independent sources so I do not see how it is similar to an advertisement. I used the glowing plant project Wikipedia page as a template, while my article contains many more independent sources. Further explanation and specific examples of what must be changed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Corey. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chowe9 (talkcontribs)

Hello Lixxx235. I noticed your recent archiving. Though my impression is that the motion failed, and the case is not amended. Is that actually being logged somewhere? Hi, quick tip on advising through helpme!

Your recent answer to my helpme request crossed over with TheMesquito who posted 2 min after you. His answer was more helpful so I thought I'd throw you a note so that you might improve your skills. He directed me to the article Wikipedia:Rules for Fools which explained my question perfectly. If he hadn't added this reference, I might have spent a lot of time pursuing your plan of action with WP:RFC. That you didn't recommend the action may not have been enough of a deterrent for me, because you are one editor, and I wanted a bigger picture involved. Wikipedia:Rules for Fools explains the history of the topic, including consensuses that have been thoroughly reached on WP on the issue over time. Not sure how this information may help you, maybe just a hint to direct people to the most relevant or thorough information possible. Squish7 (talk) 04:19, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Infoboxes review, FoF 5.1

Hey there, I noticed you updated the Infoboxes review implementation notes to say that FoF 5.1 is no longer passing. However, that doesn't seem to add up. With nine active arbs on the review, only five votes are needed to pass or fail the FoF, and currently the votes are standing at 6/0/0, even taking into account the first/second choices. Are you sure you didn't mean that FoF 5 isn't passing? Taking into account first and second choices, FoF 5 appears to be at 4/0/0 (with the assumption that Courcelles' "First choice" on 5.1 makes his support vote on 5 into a second choice). Could you review your change to the implementation notes and possibly add a votes breakdown for the two FoFs for improved clarity? Thanks. // coldacid (talk|contrib) 12:53, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

@Coldacid: There are 4 second choice votes (1,4,7,8) bringing 5 down to no mahority. --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 13:05, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
@Lixxx235: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. 5 isn't passing, but 5.1 is; however the implementation notes say that 5.1 is both "voting still underway" and "have passed". There's no disagreement here, just that the implementation notes have an error. // coldacid (talk|contrib) 13:09, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Draft IUAAPA

Maybe I delete to much because of tone. My orientation for notability was this: "Organizations are usually notable if they meet both of the following standards: 1.The scope of their activities is national or international in scale. 2.The organization has received significant coverage in multiple[1] reliable sources that are independent of the organization." both issues are fixed. In Publication you can find over 1000 google scholar resources which are related to IUAPPA like this: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/10473289.1992.10467100 have a look inside and you can see, that IUAPPA has international and national a very notability as leading global federation for "air pollution" in the world, see also this from the German Government: https://www.umweltbundesamt.de/sites/default/files/medien/377/dokumente/linklist.pdf --Mingo 09:38, 19 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Acad1989 (talkcontribs)

There are also 3600 google books results....for IUAPPA, like this: Fundamentals of Air Pollution (Google eBook) Richard W. Boubel, Daniel Vallero, Donald L. Fox, Bruce Turner, Arthur C. Stern Elsevier, 22.10.2013 - 574 pages - look to page 12.--Mingo 11:23, 19 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Acad1989 (talkcontribs)

I haven`t analyze all the 3.600 resource from google scholar concerning IUAAPA - are they not reliable for notability ? The news resources from South Africa and Korean Medias are already in the article.

@Buster7 and Acad1989: The thing is, that is a source published by IUAAPA, therefore not establishing notability. --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 16:25, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
@Lixxx235 and Acad1989:This is a learning experience for me too. My experience with references is limited. I'm sure the 3 of us will figure a way to resolve this situation. All Wikipedia editors are cohorts and collaborators working toward improving the encyclopedia. . Buster Seven Talk 17:18, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
Lixxx235 The problem is maybe that IUAPPA is no "pressure group" - they make not much noise, but of course they are mentioned in over 4.500 references...
  • Why is the source from Buster not independend ? http://www.cpom.org/people/jcrh/IUAPPA%20(Aug).pdf Julian Hunt is from the University College, published on Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling (CPOM) from NERC UK http://www.nerc.ac.uk/ the Natural Environment Research Council - is the leading funder of independent research, training and innovation in environmental science in the UK.

news:

Please explain exactly want you want and which notability criteria you use ? Also I said already that there are 3.600 books (see google books) concerning IUAPPA and over 1.000 scientific papers in google scholar. I ´m not affiliate with IUAPPA - only I wrote as IP I start the review process here !--Mingo (talk) 15:32, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for taking so long, I've been busy. I hope to get back to you within 24 hours, --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 15:51, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
@Buster7 and Acad1989: Mingo, the source provided by Buster Seven appeared in the November 2nd IUAPPA Newsletter. Thus it is a primary source lacking independence, as it was published by, for, and on behalf of the IUAPPA. Hello L235,

First off, thanks for your volunteer efforts! I recently submitted a draft for a page for Fred Fox, a french horn player and teacher (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Fred_Fox). I noticed that you rejected it for two reasons. First, that the references didn't back up his notability. Second, that it is not written from a neutral point of view. On the first point, can you please clarify? Is it that the information provided is not notable? Or that the references are not notable enough? Then on the second point, can you please clarify why it's not neutral? Does it have to do with the tone and language?

Thanks again! Pitneyj (talk) 19:42, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for taking so long, I've been busy. I hope to get back to you within 24 hours, --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 15:51, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
@Pitneyj::
  • The references don't back up his notability because most of them are not independent; they're primarily written by Fred Fox himself. Or his Quintet. Or are interviews with Fred Fox. Thus, the material is either from, or intimately connected with the subject.
  • The second point is connected with the first. L235, in his comments, linked the NPOV policy. A neutral point of view is determined by a variety of factors, but one of them is balancing the weight of an article as per the sources. Fred Fox is not a neutral source regarding Fred Fox.
The guide for determining reliable sources can be found here. The specific guidelines for this type of article subject (biographical) are found on this page. Hope that helps! Quinto Simmaco (talk) 14:38, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

Draft:Pyspread

Dear L235. Thank you for reviewing my article Draft:Pyspread.

You have declined it because of notability. Could you please give feedback, especially on the references?

Furthermore, looking at the articles on other open source spreadsheets, I wonder if I should not have deleted the least reliable references before submission. In Wikipedia:Notability (software), I saw that "It is not unreasonable to allow relatively informal sources[3] for free and open source software". Indeed, this seems common practice (e.g. for Siag Office, Resolver One or Calligra Sheets). I have the following additional references: A Softpedia review, a mention in a student project report, A short review in a blog and various Linux distribution sites that deploy pyspread.

Should I add some of those references and resubmit? Martin Manns 22:00, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

@Martin Manns:, hello again! As I told you the other day, I'm not extremely well-versed in the guidelines reviewers use relating to open source software. However, I can say with some confidence that the last two sources you provided probably wouldn't be at all suitable. The first source, however, seems to be on more solid ground regarding a claim of notability. Quinto Simmaco (talk) 14:52, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

Decline of Tammy May page

Hello L235. I have changed the two references from the MyBudget website to third party references. I have also removed Tammy May's marital status and the mentioning of her children in the 'Personal life' section since I cannot provide written proof, although it is a known fact that Tammy May is married and a mother to three children. Also, I have seen facts within the personal life section of numerous Wikipedia pages about individuals to be present without references/citations. Can you please provide feedback on the changes and point me to leftover issues? In my opinion the article does very much read like an entry in an encyclopedia/Wikipedia and not like an advertisement. 'Awards and recognition' sections within Wikipedia are common and simply reflect upon an individuals achievements.

Here's the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Tammy_May

Thanks in advance! Southmelbourne (talk) 01:50, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

@L235 and Southmelbourne: The article draft has since been improved and been moved into mainspace. So this question is moot. Congratulations on the successful publication of an article, Southmelbourne! :) Quinto Simmaco (talk) 14:42, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

HalleMillien, at the moment your draft is decent (it has four good sources), but it still is a bit disjointed. There are five (sub)sections, but each one only contains one sentence. I would suggest removing the section breaks so that the prose is more fluid. With regard to references, I noticed that there are a few blogs used as reference material; generally speaking blogs are not considered to be reliable sources, and since you have plenty of other sources I would suggest simply removing them entirely. If you want more help, stop by the Teahouse, the IRC channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 19:54, 27 March 2015 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

Draft: Omnadren

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Omnadren

How much citation do you want in this? I thought it was everybody's encyclopedia to add and amend... Why do you have to cite 'public domain knowledge' about something that exists? Perhaps I don't understand, however I think it can be stipulated by every viewer of this site that Big Bird is a Sesame Street character that's yellow, no citations are necessary.

Any other criticism is helpful, as I do plan on expanding that article to much more....just first I'd like to get something up that I can start picking at. — Preceding unsigned comment added by XY Andy (talkcontribs) 00:48, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

XY Andy, Wikipedia articles require multiple independent reliable sources that talk about the subject, regardless of how popular that subject may be. You make claims about "public domain knowledge," but I have never heard of Omnadren (and I doubt many have), but regardless of how commonplace you think it may be you must include references. Additionally, the draft is very promotional in tone, almost more of an advertisement than anything. So most important is references, second thing to tackle is the tone. If you want more help, stop by the Teahouse, the IRC channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 19:39, 27 March 2015 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

Draft:DevSpark

Hi L235,

You added a comment to your (quite old review) of the page I wrote on DevSpark: Reads like an advertisement. Could you be more specific here? I have read through the draft several times and am not sure what to change.

DevSpark (whom I do not work for) has been getting in the news lately, so hopefully they will soon be notable enough for Wikipedia.

Internal link (think I'm doing this right) Draft:DevSpark

Thank you,

RCCadigan

RCCadigan (talk) 23:02, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

RCCadigan, there are a few things to mention:
  1. You do work for DevSpark (indirectly) as it clearly states on your user page.
  2. As far as advertising goes, the "Development Services" and "Technologies Used" sections are written in a promotional tone since they are essentially bullet points on the positive aspects of the company (and the latter section should simply be deleted).
  3. The main reason why L235 declined the draft: notability. Currently your sources are either PRIMARY (e.g. the company's own website), simply prove the company exists (e.g. Crunchbase), or have nothing to do with the company itself (anything on Nearshoring, which I'm pretty sure was ripped from the main wiki page).
Issue #3 is by far the most important, as without reliable sources the article will never make it to the mainspace. If more sources (and content) are added, I think the advertisement issues will be minimised. If you want more help, stop by the Teahouse, the IRC channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 14:13, 30 March 2015 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

Question about my draft

Hello. I posted a question about my draft review last week, and never got a response. My original post was: "Hello. It seems our conversation from last week was archived, so I was writing again to ask about my article Draft:Noah Cowan. You told me that the lists of achievements in the article aren't neutral. (The example you gave was this sentence: "Noah Cowan was appointed Executive Director of the San Francisco Film Society in March 2014, where he oversees the Film Society’s expanding programs in exhibition, education and filmmaker services.") I was wondering if you could point me towards specific language to use to make it fit the correct "neutral" model. The achievements listed in the article are all facts about Noah Cowan's career, with no embellishments or opinions. It seems to me to be similar in tone to this article: Robert J. Fisher. Should there just be more info about each achievement? More sources? Any specific advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!" Filmfan39 (talk) 21:39, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

@Filmfan39: Oh dear, my apologies. Let me take another look. --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 22:28, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

How to make my draft live?

Hi L235.

I'm from UBC's Human Ecology course. We're very near to ready to put our page live. Its available for now at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Davidk94/sandbox.

When we're ready do we just copy-paste it into the existing page? Is there anything more formal? We're hoping to have it live for the end of our course at the end of next week.

Thanks, --PeteLambert (talk) 22:25, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

PeteLambert, is the page you wrote supposed to replace/be added to Central Park (Burnaby)? If so, you should have just edited the main article yourself... that being said, if that is the case, please let us know, there is a rather complicated process to merge the two pages so that the contributions of all involved will be kept. Please reply here (you can ping me with {{u|Primefac}} if you like) and we'll get this sorted. Primefac (talk) 22:31, 10 April 2015 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

Hi Primefac,
Re: the Central Park (Burnaby) pages, in creating our proposed draft we put a bunch of effort into bringing over the current content - changing what was needed in order to create a more cohesive draft.
Is the similarity (and foundation of our draft on the current article) sufficient to justify putting the draft live?
We can keep working on it, and I'm sure people will have comments and reverts if we put it up.
Draft available: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Davidk94/sandbox.
Thanks, PeteLambert (talk) 07:00, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
PeteLambert, I'll take a look and see what needs to be done (either to improve or move the page). Primefac (talk) 08:56, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Article on Rinaldo Paluzzi

I do need your assistance. It may take some of your valuable time, but I really do need your help. You recently rejected my article on the artist Paluzzi. I have personally talked to the curator of a major museum in Los Angeles, who agreed with me that Rinaldo Paluzzi is considered to be a Notable American Abstract Expressionist artist. I do understand the need to establish the Notability of Paluzzi and include references; and I believe I have done so in my article.

But please explain something to me?

Since Paluzzi was an American Abstract Expressionist Artist, I examined the list of artists whose mature work related to the American Abstract Expressionist movement (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abstract_expressionism) (Note: 7.2 Other artists) and may I suggest my article on Paluzzi includes more information establishing his notability and references than do the articles on the following artists listed there: William Brice , Alexander Bogen (was neither significant nor American), Charles Ragland Bunnell, Edward Corbett, Lynne Mapp Drexler, Jean Dubuffet, Sam Gilliam, Joseph Glasco, JohnD. Graham, Stephen Greene, Gino Hollander, Frances Kornbluth, André Lansky, Michael Lowe, John Levee, Herbert Matter (he was not an Abstract Expressionist, he was a photographer and graphic designer), Seong Moy, Jan Müller, Pat Passlof, Earle M. Pilgraim, Aaron Siskind (a photographer who had little to do with the Abstract Expressionist movement), Ary Stillman, and Cora Kelley Ward. PLEASE look at the WIKIPEDIA articles on each of the above and explain why they have an article and Paluzzi does not?

By the age of 32, his work was already in major collections and being shown in major exhibitions. [1]

Also, may I suggest you look at the following:

http://www.javierbmartin.com/index.php/textos/535-obito-rinaldo-paluzzi

http://www.javierbmartin.com/index.php/pintores-javier-b-martin/222-rinaldo-paluzzi

Please go to: http://www.inwhiteriver.com/attractioncategory/public-art/ Scroll down to “Totem” and read the bio on Paluzzi. If that doesn’t establish his nobility and references more than all the artists listed in section 7.2 of the American Abstract Expressionist article, I don’t understand what will?

After taking the time to do what I have requested, please let me know exactly what needs to be added to my article for it to be included in WIKIPEDIA.

I am age 90.85 and may not live long enough to see my article in WIKIPEDIA.

With cordial regards, SirSwindon

Newspapers.com check-in

Hello L235,

You are receiving this message because you have a one-year subscription to Newspapers.com through the Wikipedia Library. This is a brief update, to remind you about that access:

  • Please make sure that you can still log in to your Newspapers.com account. If you are having trouble let me know.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, to include citations with links on Wikipedia. Links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. Also, keep in mind that part of Newspapers.com is open access via the clipping function. Clippings allow you to identify particular articles, extract them from the original full sheet newspaper, and share them through unique URLs. Wikipedia users who click on a clipping link in your citation list will be able to access that particular article, and the full page of the paper if they come from the clipping, without needing to subscribe to Newspapers.com. For more information about how to use clippings, see http://www.newspapers.com/basics/#h-clips .
  • Do you write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let me know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate it if you filled out this short survey. Your input will help us to facilitate this particular partnership, and to discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.
