How do I edit the photo on a Wikipedia page?

I want to update the photographs on Wikipedia pages but I can't seem to be able to. How should I go about it? Thanks! Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 08:07, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
- I have moved this down, because new contributions should go at the bottom of talk pages, to keep the conversation in order.
- Start with Help:Contents/Browse/Images and media, which gives links to the advice pages you need. JohnCD (talk) 11:06, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
Sources
Since you do have a COI, can you provide a list of reliable non-primary offline sources that covers the subject, in detail. You may link to offline sources too!Winged BladesGodric 13:52, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- Winged Blades of Godric: Hi! Certainly, I could. I was careful thus far to use only verifiable information. Where should I publish this list? This is an academic society, so most information is derived from the Cambridge Law Journal (1921-present), which is a peer-reviewed offline (though it is available online too) academic journal. Thanks!
- Actually, the coverage of routine proceeding by CLJ, which is sort of a primary source, doesn't lend much notability. You may choose to view the conversation at this thread, (sans the bizarre parts:)) and search local libraries for reliable sources that cover CULS and it's activities.Regards:)Winged BladesGodric 10:44, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- Winged Blades of Godric: Thank you for all the effort and thought you've put in! I have been offered access to some offline sources from many decades ago, but as these are the property of the law library, I cannot reproduce them online. Will a citation to those sources be enough?
- Winged Blades of Godric: Having read the thread carefully, I think Iridescent is quite right: Cambridge student societies tend to be fairly coy when it comes to public coverage of what they do, especially because their target audience is other Cambridge students. I will approach the University archivist for as much information as I can but the sources from the Squire law library are limited to term cards and programme sheets from decades ago. Most of the events being exclusive or ticketed, they don't get covered by independent media. Noteworthy addresses to members are republished as academic articles in the CLJ, which you have pointed out is something of a primary source.

Vermont | reply here 19:55, 16 February 2018 (UTC)Kohlrabi Pickle, I have converted the citations on Draft:Bilahari Kausikan and have also added some notations that require your attention. Please let me know if you have any questions or queries. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 13:59, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
Great going! I am going to collate some more sources on the talk page of the draft article in the coming days. He is a highly notable diplomat with a distinguished career, so I am fairly confident that there will be academic sources on his life and work available too. Thank you for your contributions. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 16:58, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- Nearly Headless Nick, thank you for your comments! I have more sources (everything I've written was based off a particular source) but have been buried in work recently so haven't had much time to find them. Will do so within the next few days! I had a couple of questions about your notations: (1) for the honorifics, the citation is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website (https://www.gov.sg/sgdi/ministries/mfa). However, this is a live site and since Kausikan is retiring, his entry will likely be taken down soon. I'm not sure how I should proceed. (2) You've requested a better source for citation 8, but the source is of an interview with him where he confirms that he submitted articles under a pseudonym. Could you clarify what you're looking for exactly? There is another article I believe where he says the same thing and I can locate it, but I'm not clear on what the source is missing. In the meantime, I will continue to add citations - please let me know also if there is any other info that should be added and I can work on it!
Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 21:32, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response. As far as the live site is concerned, can you try saving a record via WebCite? Let me know how that goes.
- The "Bee Kim Hee" assertion is backed by mothership.sg, which is a local Singaporean blog and would not pass the muster as a reliable source. We can either keep this fact out of the article, or try to find better sources. I believe a primary source might be more usable in this case, in case we are unable to find a secondary source.
- Any other information about his life, career and current work/profile would be useful. As I said, I'll spend some time this week looking for academic sources covering his diplomatic career with the MFA.
- Nearly Headless Nick, I had one more question: I found some evidence relating to Kausikan's personal life. It was buried in archives and felt very personal to him so I wasn't sure how to incorporate it or if I should incorporate it at all. Could you advise? Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 21:37, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- You may send me an email to privately discuss this issue, if you so prefer.

Adoption
Greetings! I saw that you have categorized yourself as seeking adoption by more experienced users. I am one such user willing to acquire mentees, and so was wondering if you are still interested in being adopted. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 00:55, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- Truth be told, it looks like you probably don't really need it at this point, as you seem to be quite competently getting around. Nevertheless, I'm always willing to help with anything you might need. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 01:25, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Compassionate727! I am still looking for adoption, and would love it if you agreed to be my mentor. In general, I seem to be finding my way around, but there remain moments where I fall through the cracks here and there, and having someone to refer to when such things arise would make things much easier. :) — Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 08:18, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- I mean like this, for instance! Why does my real name pop up when I use the 4 tildes? Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 08:19, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Sure, of course! One's signature by default displays one's username on the piped link to your userpage. This means that you probably at some point when into your signature and changed it to your real name, then forgot you had done it. Simply click on "Preferences", then scroll down to where it says signature, and change the text back to your username (or whatever else you want, provided it conforms to the guidelines at WP:CUSTOMSIG). Note that if you do try something fancy, you'll most likely need to check the box that says "Treat the above as wiki markup". —Compassionate727 (T·C) 13:51, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for the heads up, I've corrected it! I'm not sure what happens now - do I just message you with questions if I have them? — Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 14:11, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Basically. Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user is relatively ambiguous on this matter, which is to say that it can take more or less whatever form we find convenient. As you are relatively experienced and don't need me to, say, walk you through policies, what you proposed seems to make the most sense. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 16:12, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Excellent, thank you again! I'm looking forward to doing much more on Wikipedia. :) I've noticed that the articles you write mirror topics that I'm interested in, and I'd be very interested in trying to write similar articles, with some guidance from you. — Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 16:15, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Well, I'm flattered, although I'm not sure I'd describe myself as a writer. I have a few drafts, true, but they mostly sit neglected (although maybe I'll be bothered to finish them now that somebody's paying attention). I usually don't have the necessary attention span, and am also perhaps not that great at it (see Civil Defense Patrols (Guatemala), for instance). Although my userpage isn't that terribly written, so maybe that's just the difference between a sophomore's and a senior's writing. Either way, I probably can't help you write a GA, given I've never done one myself, although I'd be happy to try. Most likely, though, if you want high-quality writing advice, you should ask at Wikipedia:Peer review or the relevant WikiProject page. My expertise is more in regards to policy requirements than quality aspects. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 21:00, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I appreciate it all anyway! — Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 07:05, 17 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi, Compassionate727! I noticed that you had placed a box on David Feldman (lawyer) requiring more inline citations. I'm not sure how to key them into Wikipedia - could you help with that? (Separately, is this the appropriate way to contact you if I need to?)

—Compassionate727 (T·C) 14:28, 6 September 2018 (UTC)Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:13, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Jardine Foundation Logo.png
Thanks for uploading File:Jardine Foundation Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:41, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

Hello
Subject Joshua Ip should be listed under his pseudonym, which is better known, as per wiki policy. The subject's day job, while worth mentioning in passing, does not meet notability relative to the main content of the page, which is about literary activities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Desapar (talk • contribs) 07:05, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

- Wehwalt, thanks for the message! I was wondering if the article could be scheduled for TFA on a particular commemorative date, such as 1 October (the date Lord Goff was made Senior Law Lord) or 6 February (the date he was appointed to the House of Lords)? Or alternatively, I could perhaps submit a DYK for one of those dates... Would be great to hear what you think. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 12:04, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, certainly, it would be best to put in a request at WP:TFA/R then when you're ready.--Wehwalt (talk) 12:07, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- Wehwalt Thanks! This would be about a month before the proposed date, right? (And am I right that this will then not be a TFA on Sep 8?) Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 12:08, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
