Please be careful edit

Thanks for handling the promotion of File:Endeavour_silhouette_STS-130.jpg. However, the caption that you wrote at Wikipedia:Featured pictures/Space/Getting there was wrong. The information from NASA in the photo's description shown on File:Endeavour_silhouette_STS-130.jpg says, "The image was photographed by an Expedition 22 crew member prior to STS-130 rendezvous and docking operations with the International Space Station." I have made a correction. Pine 16:37, 7 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yuval Bronshtein article deletion edit

Hello,

Yuval Bronshtein is a very famous and notable poker player, and I think it is wrong that you have deleted his page and not restored it since. Originally you discredited Yuval's online poker achievements of winning 2 FTOPS simultaneously and 4 total, by claiming that FTOPs are not noteworthy, yet you have wikipedia pages for other poker players such as Shaun Deeb who are mostly noteworthy for their online poker achievements.

In addition to his record 4 FTOPs title, Yuval also made the first ever final table of a World Series of Poker Europe event (in HORSE), at which time the commissioner of the WSOP told the final 8 players "You are all a part of poker history now." Each of the other 7 members of that final table has his/her own wikipedia page.

Yuval has also continued to achieve live poker success and become much more noteworthy and famous since the article's deletion. Yuval has cashed 21 times at the WSOP during his career, made a total of 4 WSOP final tables and recently reached the $1 million career earning milestone.

This past summer Yuval had his best WSOP to date, amassing 6 cashes for $426,603, including 2 final tables. He received lots of recognition from the poker world for his 23rd place finish in the 2012 WSOP main event for $294,601, his largest live cash to date. Yuval received lots of air-time on national television, on ESPN's main event coverage, as he was one of the most featured players on the telecast.

Additionally, many articles and publication have been released about Yuval Bronshtein regarding his recent success in poker. Yuval was also selected in Daniel Negreanu's $25k fantasy draft this summer, in which only the best and most notable players are generally selected.

I urge you to reconsider the deletion of Yuval Bronshtein's wikipedia page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.162.6.101 (talk) 18:08, 13 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

At the time of deletion (May 2009), he was not notable, but since then he appears to have gained some notability. I have restored the article. -- King of ♠ 21:09, 13 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

UTRS edit

First, a general question--is UTRS exempt from the standard requirement to contact the blocking admin prior to unblocking? Second, specifically in request to your unblock of User:Toddjfisher...you note that he's not famous enough for the famous name clause. Did you happen to check the user's contribution history, and note that it consists of nothing other than contributions to the article Todd Fisher? At a bare minimum, even if you somehow overruled the naming issue, did you ask the standard three username questions (will you agree not to promote yourself, to follow other policies, and avoid editing articles you have a close connection to)? If not, please reblock the editor until you elicit those assurances. Qwyrxian (talk) 14:16, 15 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Username blocks in general, are in my opinion not judgment calls made by an admin due to editing problems, but technical measures to alert a user about an inappropriate username and force them to fix it in order to edit. As such, IMO they can be unblocked as soon as the reason is no longer valid. Without the username issue, the COI is not enough for a block, as pretty much all blocks based on editing behavior except for blatant harassment, legal threats, etc. require warning the user beforehand. -- King of ♠ 18:39, 15 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
I just gave him a warning about COI. -- King of ♠ 18:43, 15 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Zink magazine edit

Hi, I wondered why you locked this article. The edit war was over by the time you got to it as I blocked both the registered account and the IP who were warring. See this discussion at WP:ANI. I'd like to unprotect it as I don't think there's even an immediate need for semi-protection. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:34, 16 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

OK, I've unprotected it. -- King of ♠ 03:04, 17 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

User:SuperSE143 edit

I noticed you unblocked SuperSE143 since he promised to stop introducing copyright violations and this is to inform you that he had continued to do so, now with images on the Wikimedia Commons. Regards, — Moe Epsilon 03:10, 20 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

SuperSE143 edit

ON September 15, I blocked User: SuperSE143 indefinitely for numerous copyright violations and the fact that xe'd never responded to any notices or copyright comments. You unblocked per UTRS about 4 hours later. The user has subsequently resumed loading and linking copyrighted images, and a note on the user's talk page indicates this is occurring on both commons and ko.wiki. I was about to re-block the user when I realized that would be wheel-warring. Could you please reblock the user indefinitely until such time as they actual demonstrate an understanding of what copyright means? Please note that the images the user is uploading are obviously screen shots; my guess it that xe thinks that because xe made the shot, that somehow means the real copyright doesn't apply. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:11, 20 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Whoops, I didn't notice the section right above this. Sorry to double up. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:14, 20 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Actually, SuperSE143 hadn't edited since the October 16 when I made my above post, he just returned to continue today. Regards, — Moe Epsilon 13:12, 20 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

A beer for you! edit

Not sure if a beer has the same meaning in both our locales, but thanks to your quick approval of my very odd IPBE request, my editing has been made impossibly easier. Thank you so much for helping me out! The Illusive Man(Contact) 01:52, 27 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Tripods edit

Re your comment at Westminster Palace FPC. You may be interested to know it is quite difficult to take a shot using a tripod on the South Bank. See this. I've seen a photographer chased away as they unfolded the legs. There are alternatives, though, like a bean bag on the wall, etc. Lots on London's pavements are privately owned and security guards come after you if you take out a big camera. :-( Colin°Talk 12:21, 27 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Free use no longer required? edit

I noticed your recent-ish edit to File:Burj Khalifa building.jpg. I must have missed the discussion where it is OK to photograph a building in a non-FoP country, yet it no longer requires fair use on en.wikipewdia. Can you point me to the discussion or relevant policy. Many thanks. Astronaut (talk) 15:04, 28 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Is there a reason you closed this after SarahStierch relisted it about 7 hours ago? Thanks, Legoktm (talk) 12:33, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Because it failed to be removed from the 10/22 log. I've reverted myself. -- King of ♠ 12:35, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ah, makes sense. Thanks, Legoktm (talk) 12:36, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
