Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Your recent talk page comments on Czech Republic were not added to the bottom of the page. New discussion page messages and topics should always be added to the bottom. Your message may have been moved. In the future you can use the "New section" link in the top right. MOS
editHi, please take some time to familiarise yourself with MOS guidelines at WP:OVERLINK (involving linking countries or nationalities) and WP:OPENPARA (involving listing places of birth in the opening) before making changes such as the ones you made at Robbie Fowler. Thanks. Kosack (talk) 07:46, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
- Please do not simply ignore this message and keep making the same changes. Nationalities are listed as a prime example at WP:OVERLINK of what should not be linked. Thanks. Kosack (talk) 07:49, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
- Why is a link to nationalities a violation of overlinking? I couldn't see any other examples of this in Wikipedia. Kenwick (talk) 07:55, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
- Really? I think you would be hard pressed to find any other football article that links the player's nationality. Kosack (talk) 07:58, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
- Okay, I will stop editing football-related articles, but all across Wikipedia links to nationalities weren't treated as overlinkings. Kenwick (talk) 08:00, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
- Overlink is a Wikipedia wide guideline and applies to all articles, not just football, so unless there are specific topic-related guidelines that allow linking them they should be avoided. Kosack (talk) 08:03, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
NASL and OVERLINK
editPlease read WP:OVERLINK. We don't need to link major countries or continents. Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:46, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
- Also, WP:NOTBROKEN states that you don't need to change a link to a redirect just to avoid the redirect. Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:48, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
- Reading above, it appears you were told about OVERLINK several weeks ago. Did you not read it, not understand it, or think that it didn't apply in the case of the NASL article? Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:49, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
- Two last things. First, it looks like you stated that you were going to avoid "football related articles". Unless I'm mistaken, NASL is about association football. Second, please use the summary field and leave an edit summary when editing. It helps to understand what you're thinking when you edit. Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:51, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
- Did you follow me like a stalker? Why should I avoid editing all football-related articles just because some of them are patrolled by a few notable keyboard warriors? It's amusing that some people set up some funny editing rules and regulations in Wikipedia and some people try to enforce these rules according to their own interpretations as much as they can. The fact is, when Jimmy Wales created Wikipedia, it was meant to be a place for everyone to freely contribute and share the sum of all human knowledge.
- Now, back on topic. All across Wikipedia, you can see countries and continents in the Infobox being linked, often with flags attached as well. All I did was following the trend. If you want to change it, you can spend the rest of your life reverting every wiki Infobox you see to your standard in a never-ending cycle. As for the redirects, the rules you've quoted above clearly states that the main benefit of keeping these redirects is for other users to create another appropriate article if it is considered worthwhile. In my case, this doesn't apply. I was simply eliminating unnecessary redirects.
- I might leave Wikipedia altogether, just like many others. Because I don't feel free here anymore. In my opinion, Wikipedia should be more free for everyone to enjoy, with only vandalism and false information worth everyone keeping an eye on. Some people spent 24/7 tirelessly reverting other people's contributions (and the majority of them weren't vandalism or false information) and take pride and pleasure in their work. What would they gain in the end? Nothing. Kenwick (talk) 05:12, 27 May 2018 (UTC)

November 2018
editPlease do not move a page to a title that is harder to follow, or move it unilaterally against naming conventions or consensus, as you did to Antilles. This includes making page moves while a discussion remains underway. We have some guidelines to help with deciding what title is best for a subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you. BilCat (talk) 04:11, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
- I can't find a discussion about it on the talk page. I reckon adding "The" is quite necessary since Antilles by itself is pretty confusing, there are a lot of Antilles other than the greater one. Also, the same can be said of Maritimes, considering there is also an article called Maritime Southeast Asia. Kenwick (talk) 06:42, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
- There isn't a current discussion - that's part of the standard warning template. In any case, please follow the instructions at WP:RM for requesting a move on the article's talk page. Wikipedia's naming conventions are complicated, and differ from your reasons above on several points. It's best if you read up on the conventions before making a proposal. As far as The Maritimes are concerned,it was actually at that title for years until August, when another user moved it without discussion. It should have been moved back then. - BilCat (talk) 07:55, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

Redirect links
editHello Kenwick, please have a read of WP:NOTBROKEN. Simply put, it states that you should not "correct" links that redirect to the relevant article. For example, you changed East Asian to East Asian at Coloureds. Please do not do this, the original link was a satisfactory redirect. I hope this is clear, Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 23:04, 25 May 2019 (UTC)

editPlease do not add or change content, as you did at Universe, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. David J Johnson (talk) 09:55, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
- If you are going to revert any changes I may have made, then at least describe the alts/additions you have made originally. Thank you, David J Johnson (talk) 10:45, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

editYou may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you make disruptive edits to Wikipedia contrary to the Manual of Style, as you did at LaMelo Ball. You've been warned before to not link nationalites like American. Also, please be aware of MOS:SEAOFBLUE, and not change <city>, <state> to link the state separately as well —Bagumba (talk) 10:49, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Western Hemisphere, as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 10:58, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

editLink changing
editHello, I'd like to repeat a message similar to the one you received in May 2019 regarding WP:NOTBROKEN, though this time related more to MOS:PIPE (see "Style") and your edit on Iceland. The changing of short links to longer-winded ones, such as Scandinavians
to Scandinavians
, has no effect on Wikipedia readers but makes the source text more difficult for editors to work with. Please refrain from making such edits in the future. Thtatithticth (talk) 15:24, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comment. However, I reckon that saying my edit has made the source text more difficult for others to work with is a subjective statement. In my opinion, putting double square brackets in the middle of the words make the source text more difficult to read. Anyway, as you have said, these minor changes had no effect on Wikipedia readers, so I will not spend time fighting over it, but I will revert part of your edit that have created unnecessary redirects and inserted capital letters in the middle of the source text though. Disambiguation link notification for July 3
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Metro, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Metropolitan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:21, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
July 2020
editHi Kenwick! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at The Crown that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Is there now a consensus for this move? There was not in the past, see Talk:Kildin Sami orthography#Requested move 21 December 2018. Rua (mew) 15:20, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- Is there a major issue for the name Sámi? I thought this one should be pretty straightforward as the main related article Sámi people already uses Sámi instead of Sami. I moved the article for consistency purposes. Kenwick (talk) 15:32, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- See the previous move discussion. Rua (mew) 15:55, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- I have skimmed through the lengthy discussion. I reckon it is just another example of people making simple (and unimportant) things complicated. To me, Sámi or Sami makes no difference at all. I just prefer more consistency among those similar and related articles. If people want to fight to retain Sami languages and makes the whole website looking inconsistent, it's their choice, I don't mind. Kenwick (talk) 02:41, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Use of first names
editHi Kenwick, many thanks for your updates to Eddie Chu. I noticed that you changed some mentions of Chu and replaced the family name with the first name. As a general rule, individuals are always referred to by their family names throughout the body of an article as per MOS:SURNAME. Thanks. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 05:11, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for informing me about this rule. Kenwick (talk) 05:13, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
