Business Line Directory

why the hell have you deleted my page i was updating? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rodz37 (talkcontribs) 10:06, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

I have just spent the last hour and was in the middle of updaing this page, you have left no message as to why this has been actioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rodz37 (talkcontribs) 10:08, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Sorry you’re not correct here, re 2nd point the article was also based on the yellow pages sg which I copied the type of article so I can’t understand why yellow pages sg is fine and this article I was creating was not as they are both very similar I was in the middle of editing it.

Re 1st point I am not connected with this company but rather have my business listed their and as a result of being the 4th most popular directory at the moment I though it worth posting about.

So both issues i think you have been somewhat very severe, how can this be corrected. Please advise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rodz37 (talkcontribs) 10:48, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Swim for the Reef

Hello,

You recently deleted the page Swim for the Reef. I understand why you did this but perhaps you can help me get it done right. I am new to this and have only edited on wiki page previously. The Swim for the Reef wiki was predominately copied from the website but I have full copyright rights to the website. I was instructed by Paul Ellis to create a wiki based on the webpage. Is there a better way to get this accomplished? Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hi Brent - Thanks for your message. As far as I can see, there are a couple of things which need to be done for the Swim for the Reef article. The first is the copyright issue, where you can do one of two things:
  1. Follow the instructions at this page granting Wikipedia permission to use the material from the Swim for the Reef page. This basically involves sending an email to an official Wikipedia email address from an address associated with the website (like owner@swim4thereef.com). There is a more detailed explanation on that page.
  2. Alternatively, you could create an article, written in your own words, avoiding the copyright issue entirely. In this case, I would add the swim4thereef website as an external link so readers could go there for more information.
Whichever of these you choose is entirely up to yourself; however, note that any article may be edited by other people, even if Wikipedia uses the text from the Swim4theReef website.
The other thing which an article will need is some references from reliable sources - for example, newspaper or magazine articles. I notice that there was an Associated Press article, which would be useful as a citation for the facts in the article, and I also found a brief profile in the Austin American-Statesman (31 December 2002) which mentioned a documentary crew was following the swim. If a documentary was made/broadcast, that would be useful to add to the article. If the other links on your Events and Media page are published newspaper articles, they can also be used as citations.
If you have any questions, or there is anything I can help you with, feel free to let me know; I generally check for messages every day. We also have a Help Desk, where experienced editors will answer any questions related to using and editing Wikipedia. I will leave a copy of this reply on your talk page also. --Kateshortforbob talk 19:08, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

How does this look? You want me to add cited sources to my information right? I also emailed the copyright people and submitted the history page. What else do I have to do in order to get this page back up? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Planedriver27 (talkcontribs) 18:33, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
