The article Aviation Supplies and Academics, Inc. has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 22:54, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Aviation Supplies and Academics

edit

Hi Planedriver - I wanted to leave you a note about the article you created on the company, Aviation Supplies and Academics. The article has now been deleted a couple of times for different reasons:

  1. I performed the most recent deletion, as the text in the article was copied from the company website ([1]). Wikipedia cannot accept material which is copyrighted. In some circumstances, the owner of the copyrighted material can grant Wikipedia the right to use it in an article; however, any material (images or text) that are donated to Wikipedia may still be edited, altered or deleted in order to adhere to Wikipedia's policies. If you are, or you represent, the copyright owner, please see this page for information on donating copyrighted text for Wikipedia to use. An alternative to this is to write an original article in your own words, thus avoiding the copyright issue.
  2. The article was also deleted as "Unambiguous advertising or promotion". As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a promotional vehicle, all articles must be written with a neutral point of view. This is why text copied from a company website is not always ideal material for a Wikipedia article, even if the copyright owner has granted permission for us to use it.
  3. The final reason for deletion of the article is that it did not assert the significant of it's subject. Wikipedia has guidelines on notability for the subjects of articles. The specific guideline which relates to companies is WP:CORP. To summarise, the company should have been covered by independent, reliable sources, such as in magazine or newspaper articles, books, certain websites, tv programmes etc.

In order to work on your article without worrying about it being deleted prematurely, you may like to begin it in the userspace, for example, at User:Planedriver27/Aviation Supplies and Academics so that you can edit it and compile references in your own time. When you feel the article is ready, it can then be moved into the main article area. Note that copyright violation or outright advertising might still be deleted, even from your own user area. There is a collaborative project, the Aviation Wikiproject, where you can ask questions of editors interested in the subject, or you can ask questions related to editing Wikipedia in general at the Helpdesk. --Kateshortforbob talk 10:42, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

How does my user site look? User:Planedriver27/Aviation Supplies and Academics, Inc.

I have placed {{OTRS pending}} on the discussion page of your draft article to notify editors who may see it that there is contact ongoing with the Response Team. One of the team who receives your email will add a notice to the discussion page, stating that copyright permission has been provided. --Kateshortforbob talk 12:06, 13 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
