You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Hamlet on the Holodeck: The Future of Narrative in Cyberspace requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. February 2020 edit

I understand you are a student and here on a classroom assignment, but I need to comment on two things you've done, both of which are inappropriate. First, do not create an article about yourself (I've deleted it), and do not create empty articles (also deleted). If you need to experiment, do so in your sandbox or in draft space. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:12, 9 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes, Bbb23 is correct. You should be working on Draft:Hamlet on the Holodeck. —Grlucas (talk) 21:48, 9 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Bbb23, thank you for pointing this out to me! I understand that I need to experiement in my sandbox now. However, my professor, Grlucas| instructed our class to create a biography on Wikipedia. That was the article that I created about myself. I saw that you deleted it. I want to ensure that I've got a clear understanding of what to do so that I do not make this mistake again. To confirm, you're saying that I should not have published my biography on my user page but instead in my sandbox? Is this the correct way? And is there anyway that I can get what was deleted back? This is a class assignment that affects my grade in this course and my professor does not see where my user page was created nor is he able to see the biography that I created on January 21, 2020. Please let me know a soultion to this. Thank you! Kaitlyn.Kelly (talk) 23:28, 9 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

It seems odd that your instructor wanted students to create autobiographies about themselves. Are you sure he didn't mean a biography about someone else? Anyway, if your instructor confirms what you said, I can restore it to your sandbox (it shouldn't be on your userpage).--Bbb23 (talk) 00:47, 10 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Bbb23, yes. He wanted us to create a biography about ourselves. However, I didn't realize that I wasn't supposed to post it in the user page. Thank you for pointing that out! Grlucas, Dr. Lucas, can you confirm that this assignment was a biography about ourselves and not about someone else so that Bbb23 can restore it to my sandbox? Kaitlyn.Kelly (talk) 01:26, 10 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Kaitlyn, I decided because of the lateness of the hour not to wait for Dr. Lucas's confirmation, so I've moved your biography to your sandbox. BTW, your pings aren't working because you're not using one of the correct formats. In the future, try {{ping|Bbb23}}. Note that it has braces, not brackets. Good luck to you.--Bbb23 (talk) 02:18, 10 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Kaitlyn.Kelly and Bbb23: Sorry for my delay in responding. Yes, students were to create a "short biography" on their user page as one of their first assignments. I see now that I should be more specific. Kaitlyn’s biography is too good, so I can see why it would be inappropriate. Hopefully, this is now resolved. —Grlucas (talk) 17:28, 10 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Grlucas: I'm not sure what you mean by "short". If it's truly brief and doesn't look like an article the way Kaitlyn's did, that would be okay, although it would be best if they identify themselves as part of your course. Anyway, you can get more - and probably better - guidance from the WikiEd folk.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:14, 10 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Bbb23: "Brief" might be better; yes, Kaitlyn's was too long. She and I discussed why. My assignment will be clarified in the future. Thanks for your help. —Grlucas (talk) 13:09, 11 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
