Hello. Welcome to my talk page. I mainly edited in areas of Hawaiian, Tahitian, Tongan and American history and mainly write biographies of people who I believe history has forgotten. - KAVEBEAR (talk) 00:29, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

CPI Hänni/Itchner edit

Cher Monsieur,

Itchner, Huahine". Cordialement

George F. Wright edit

Hi, I have been working on the above article. Can you cast your mind back to 2014? I am looking at the third ref from the Congressional Serial Set that you added. It appears to only be a partial reference. By any chance can you remember either the rest of the reference or where you sourced it from? Skullcinema (talk) 14:04, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Map request edit

Hi, you left me a message in May, asking me to produce a map of Queen Emma's travels. Happy to oblige. Regards, Amitchell125 (talk) 14:04, 5 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Amitchell125: Great! Thank you! KAVEBEAR (talk) 16:03, 5 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Amitchell125 Do you know when you might be able to start working on the map? The list of stops are here: Wikipedia:Graphics Lab/Map workshop/Archive/Jan 2021#Queen Emma of Hawaii's 1865–66 travels to Europe and the United States KAVEBEAR (talk) 06:49, 16 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
@KAVEBEAR: Started working on it a few days' ago, then stopped by a review. Can continue on Monday! Amitchell125 (talk) 07:16, 16 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Queen Emma of Hawaii - travel to Europe and the United States (1865-1866)
Draft file now on WikiCommons, happy to amend/correct it. The three colours are my way of avoiding the confusion caused by her tour revisiting places. I think adding the travels of her companions might be a little too much! Amitchell125 (talk) 09:23, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Amitchell125: This looks great! Thank you so much!
Here are some minor tweaks: 1. Can you remove US Virgin Islands to just Saint Thomas. 2. Can you make the route from Panama to San Francisco curve and cross over the ocean to convey she went by ship? KAVEBEAR (talk) 06:22, 20 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Nāmākēhā edit

On 3 September 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Nāmākēhā, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Nāmākēhā was sacrificed in 1797 after he led an unsuccessful rebellion against Hawaiian king Kamehameha I? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Nāmākēhā. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Nāmākēhā), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Ioane Ii edit

The wiki page lists his second marriage as occurring on 1 August 1861 but the actual Vital Statistics record lists it as 30 Iulai. available here https://digitalcollections.hawaii.gov/greenstone3/library/collection/vitalsta/browse/CL3/1/741 KaukaRon (talk) 06:15, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

It comes from a thesis written by his descendant Marie Alohalani Brown. The sources for the August 1 date seem to be Ka Hae Hawaii and the Pacific Commercial Advertiser. I think it would be fine to include both dates given that the records is more primary than the newspapers. Honestly, a difference of one day seems a bit trivial. There are more details about the marriage that is left out for the sake of brevity as well. KAVEBEAR (talk) 00:09, 27 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
