Hello, Not sure i'm doing this right. You've picked one of my photos for deletion. What must I do to stop the deletion? I'm new to Wiki, so please no jargon! The image is Remedial_works.jpg. Internationale in Chinese

Hello Jusjih! Thanks for letting me know about the possibility of splitting the Chinese section of The Internationale. I was against the attempt to include Bengali lyrics in the main article because there was no information that the Bengali version played a significant role in the global history of the song. Furthermore, the section looked a lot like graffiti - although I didn't quite say this - because it did not include any historical information at all. With the Chinese version, the situation is obviously different. As I said in my prior comments, to my knowledge, the French and the Russian versions are the most important historically, and the English version is included because it is the English Wikipedia. The Internationale in Chinese obviously played an important role too, and since I don't know enough about the history, I didn't have a preference either way. However, since the article is long and you have more material to put in, splitting the section may be a good idea.

I think the proposed merger of The Internationale in Indian Languages into The Internationale is unrealistic. If you take a look at the edit history of the Internationale article a few years ago, you'll see that it included texts of many versions of the song, which then got moved to Wikisource. If the text and the history of the Bengali version were included in the Wikipedia article, than why not Spanish? Tagalog? German? Serbo-Croatian? - in the end, it would be a similar situation as before, and the article would be exceedingly long. So, in my opinion, if you think splitting the Chinese section into a separate article is a good idea, you can go ahead without waiting for the Indian merger to be resolved. In fact, a separate Chinese article may help the merger issue disappear.

Yes, I agree. The Internationale in Chinese works good on its own; the Chinese Soviet Republic existed only under the conditions of civil war and was relatively short-lived. Note also that in many republics of the Soviet Union languages other than Russian were official (e.g. Ukrainian, Georgian, Kazakh etc.), so if the main article on The Internationale were to include all languages in which it was an anthem, the text would be overburdened again. The decision to keep the Russian version in the main article is ultimately a judgment call, and although it may be argued, I think it's a good one. The Russian version of the song was and is widely internationally recognized, far more than the one in English and next only to the original French.

Making the timeline of The Internationale sounds like a great idea! :)

I have been away for a very long time, so apologies. John Angelo Jackson was my father, since his passing in 2005 (North Wales) I came into possession of his rather vast photographic library. He took the picture of the scalp and hand whilst on the Daily Mail Snowman Expedition in 1954. He was one of the few avid photographers on expeditions of that time. I initially scanned the picture from my father's book "Adventure Travels in the Himalaya" (2005), and did the work on the JAJ entry on Wikipedia. I since have all the original slides. Maybe you can suggest what the next move is, I was prepared to donate the picture too whom ever wanted the current degraded state I provided it. Later expeditions had to pay to view the pieces, and so their significance has diminished, as I explain in detail on the Yeti page. I own and have in my possession the photograph. Vw.png has the same license as its original Vw.PNG which ... was deleted by a stupid bot right after it detected a redundant image. If Wikipedia still has the history of Vw.PNG (it better should), then the information is hidden down there. Minors Hut

Refer to the message regarding the uploaded images copyright, picture is a family photo and is not subject to any copyright, photo's of the quarry where the granit from the shrine was quarried are rare and should be available to the public. Not sure how to reslove the issue

None was created by me, but each was entered in the 2001 logo competition, (see m:Logo_suggestions and m:Logo_suggestions/Humorous_logos) and GFDL licensed as part of that procedure. At the end of that competition, Larry Sanger deleted them because he is a humourless tosser. I saved them from deletion because they amused me. -- GWO (talk)

I have seen their uploader as m:User:Gareth Owen with the interwiki redirect, so I have asked you, but since you have said that you did not create them, I am tagging them as GFDL-presumed so they may stay on Meta. I went through this before last year The image is mine I took it with my camera phone in my bathroom, someone cropped and lightened it later. What do I have to do to keep the picture up and keep the image legal I though that what I did was acceptable let me know. I have since removed the piercing but I think I have the image floating around somewhere (and i am thinking about getting the piercing again) if I upload it again will it be kicked out again.
