December 2016

Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Kilian Kleinschmidt. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 16:40, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

@Zackmann08: sorry about that. If you look at the edits I had previously added the image as you have specified. But I felt that the image looked too huge, and tried out many things to reduce its size. I must have left it after the last edit, without reverting back to the original state. Anyway it would be nice if you could reduce the size of the image. It looks a little too huge for the page. Jupitus Smart 16:55, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
No worries!! It is all part of learning. That's why I left the message. There is another param called {{{image_size}}} that gives you control over the size of the image. See the most recent change... Keep up the good work! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:01, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Jupitus Smart, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! ~ Rob13Talk 00:27, 25 December 2016 (UTC)

DYK for East Base

On 2 March 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article East Base, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that East Base (pictured) in Antarctica housed Jackie Ronne and Jennie Darlington, the first women to spend a winter on the continent? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/East Base. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, East Base), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK for Renault Trezor

On 9 March 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Renault Trezor, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Renault Trezor features a single-piece canopy roof that opens by hinging forward? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Renault Trezor. Renault Trezor

Correct, I didn't promote this one. But my two cents are that I agree with not using it in the lead slot with the picture because while it looks fine in regular size in the article, in the small space allowed for DYK pics it's hard to see what it is and see its details. Everyone, including me, is disappointed when their DYK hook doesn't get the lead slot. As for me, I choose pics that are easy to tell what it is in DYK size, interesting, and use DYKs from a variety of editors. HalfGig talk 12:12, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Nakatsu Castle

On 14 March 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Nakatsu Castle, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the original Nakatsu Castle was destroyed in a fire in 1877, and the current structure was built in 1964? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Nakatsu Castle. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Nakatsu Castle), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Mifter (talk) 00:01, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Just encountered Nakatsu Castle as a result of this DYK? - wanted to drop by and say thank you for such a nice little article; I never knew about this castle before now. Sterling work! Yunshui  11:13, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Thanks Yunshui. I am however done with my Japanese article in my quest to make an article from each of the nations of the world. Anyway its good to know that I managed to impress a Japanese person with my article. I came back from semi-retirement to reply to your pleasantries and I will now be returning to my self-imposed exile. Jupitus Smart 11:31, 14 March 2017 (UTC)
I wish you luck with your (admirable) quest, and if that's the sort of article you can churn out, hope that your exile is a brief one. All the best, Yunshui  11:33, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Jane Maria Strachey

On 20 March 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jane Maria Strachey, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that suffragist Jane Maria Strachey was born on a ship off the Cape of Good Hope in 1840? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jane Maria Strachey. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Jane Maria Strachey), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Rollback granted

Hi Jupitus Smart. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Beeblebrox (talk) 23:52, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Vizag

Why u changed the content? Sai krishna 98 (talk) 03:37, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

@Sai krishna 98:I thought it was obvious, but I believe I should have made myself more clear. Facebook posts are not allowed as references, and if you have a reliable source quoting your numbers, that website must be directly linked to. I thought you would have realised that with all your block warnings earlier. Jupitus Smart 03:40, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
But it is the Facebook page of Government of Andhra Pradesh. How can u ignore that? Sai krishna 98 (talk) 03:42, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
@Sai krishna 98:Don't make new sections each time you want to comment. As for your question, you didn't even give the link to the post mentioning your claim. How do you expect me to verify your claim, if you just give me the link to a Facebook Page. Atleast comment the link to the Facebook post saying that Vizag is the 8th largest city by GDP, here and I will see what can be done. Jupitus Smart 03:47, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Mr Jupiter I understand your concern. Click the link. It will direct to the page. Then scroll down the page. Scroll down. See the post on 19th feb at 12 :15. In that post ,more option will be there click it. Then u can see information about Visakhapatnam Sai krishna 98 (talk) 03:52, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Tell me ur gmail I will send the photos if u don't understand Sai krishna 98 (talk) 03:52, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Do you understand English, @Sai krishna 98:. Just paste the link to the facebook post mentioning the same as a comment below this. That will probably not be enough, but its good for a start. I searched for the 8th largest city claim, and though it appears in some pages, none of them are Reliable Sources. At best you can add the Computer Society of India link as reference - [1] and I will not revert it. Jupitus Smart 04:00, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
@Sai krishna 98: Are you trying to do some kind of circular referencing. The Vishakapatnam city page mentions Economy of Visakhapatnam as the source for the 8th largest city claim in this Facebook post - [2]. Your intentions therefore seem very fishy. Are you a government official?. Jupitus Smart 04:10, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
I used the computer society of India reference don't revert Sai krishna 98 (talk) 04:15, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

As I said before @Sai krishna 98:, the Computer Society of India reference is not perfect, but okay. So while I won't revert it, if somebody else does, I won't be able to help you. And if you are being paid by the government to add the data, an administrator will surely revert the edit and block you soon. Consider reading WP:PAID. Cheers. Jupitus Smart 04:21, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Thanks Sai krishna 98 (talk) 04:30, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
A thanks is not enough, @Sai krishna 98:. You need to read WP:PAID and make a disclosure that you are on the payrolls of the government, if you are getting paid for editing the page. If you do so, maybe your edit will not be reverted, provided the reference is considered as okay by other editors. Jupitus Smart 04:35, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
I am not paid by the Government to do these silly things.I have an intention to remove false things in Wikipedia.since Government is saying that Visakhapatnam is 8th largest economy,so why should those false things are still to be considered. That is my intention. Sai krishna 98 (talk) 04:43, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
While it does not seem so @Sai krishna 98:, as you only edit pages of Visakhapatnam and Economy of Visakhapatnam, I cannot make any unilateral decisions on this. Let us see what experienced editors like Arjayay and Vin09 have to say about this, as they have repeatedly warned you on your talk page. Jupitus Smart 04:50, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Fine for removal of Facebook link. The new link is just showing blank page.--Vin09(talk) 05:49, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
I hope you are talking about this link, @Vin09: which is the new reference - [3]. Its not a blank page and mentions the data that @Sai krishna 98: is trying to add, though whether the website can be considered as a reliable source is something I am not sure of. Jupitus Smart 05:54, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
I'm just getting a website and its showing About CSI information, but when I clicked About Vizag just a blank page with large font About Us.--Vin09(talk) 05:58, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
I don't know how that can be. When I click on the link, I see a page that says About Us with About Visakhapatnam as the sub-heading. I am viewing the desktop version and that can be the only probable reason I can think of for the anomaly. Jupitus Smart 06:03, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, right I'm using tab, so that may be the problem. If you can view the required info, it's fine. Cheers!

I just saw that in a mobile version, it's a copy of wiki, non reliable. Can check vizag page intro.--Vin09(talk) 06:14, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

You seem to be correct, @Vin09:. What do you suggest be done now. The facebook reference which we reverted is tagged for want of a better source in the Visakhapatnam page. Should we do the same in the Economy of Visakhapatnam page or should the edit be reverted.Jupitus Smart 06:18, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
I've corrected the info on vizag page, changed by the user here.--Vin09(talk) 06:26, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
And I undid the one on the Economy of Visakhapatnam page. Hope that solves the issue for now.Jupitus Smart 06:29, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Why is the Facebook reference not sufficient and you are telling it as unreliable even it is the page of Government of Andhra Pradesh Sai krishna 98 (talk) 07:03, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Facebook posts are not considered reliable irrespective of whose page it is. If you can provide a proper Government website which says the same thing, it can be added. If you revert any of the edits again you will be blocked for being against the Wikipedia policies on Edit warring. So I urge you to find a proper source before editing the page again. Jupitus Smart 07:08, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) This editor has been trying to push this one point, using less and less reliable sources, since his first edit on 12 March - see my talk page for 2 more strings of attempts to explain about WP:RS - A clear case of WP:IDHT - Arjayay (talk) 18:11, 15 April 2017 (UTC)
By the looks of it he has been away since his last warning. Hopefully it will continue. Jupitus Smart 03:51, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

"Black money issue"

Hi Jupitus, I restored the {{vague}} template you removed in this edit. Though the link is appreciated, the statement is still vague, as readers do not presently know what the story is or how it relates to "the black money issue", whatever that is. Even the source is vague. Do we mean that one of the characters is a gangster? Is someone fighting against black money? No idea. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:29, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

The date is mentioned in the 4th reference, so probably that has a citation. I haven't seen the movie, and don't know anything beyond the fact that the movie touches upon "the black money issue", as was mentioned in the 1st and 2nd references. Going by the reviews one of the characters is a gangster but its not clearly mentioned whether he is fighting against or to save his own black money. So I cannot do much about it, apart from waiting for somebody else to clarify that. Cheers. Jupitus Smart 04:05, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Inappropriate Removal of true items worthy of addition to page

I am Christopher R. Fuentes-Padilla the Official Candidate for New York State Assembly in 2018's election versus the incumbent Nily Rozic. The filing occurred four weeks ago. And appropriate approval was received. I suggest that information is checked accurately before removing valid information about a year's old candidate, Usman Ali Chohan and the next year's opposition.

Cfuentespadilla1421 (talk) 06:15, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

A lot of people contest against notable politicians. What makes you notable enough to be included in Nily Rozic's Wikipedia page. Do you have any newspapers or other reliable sources writing about your contest with the said candidate apart from your own facebook post and the Libertarian Party website. Anyway Wikipedia is not a place where you can express your personal views against any candidate, as you have done so with sentences like "He claims that "if Nily Rozic was truly in support of Women in New York State, she would have ran on the Women's Equality Line in 2016. "And she would resign from the Puerto Rican Hispanic Task Force Being she has no involvement in our history or culture.", which you source from your facebook post. Anyway if you are indeed the person who you claim to be, I would advise against edit warring on the Nily Rozic page, as you risk getting blocked. Cheers. Jupitus Smart 06:25, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

The information you deleted is fine as that was added by one of my staff members. The 2016 information should have stayed as it was long overdue to be added to her page to show the results of her last election. Cfuentespadilla1421 (talk) 06:41, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

First decide if the information I deleted was correct or wrong. You have served me an improper deletion notice while you now say that it was fine. Yet you continue to add the unsourced material. I don't want to edit war with you, so I'll wait and watch what administrators decide before reverting your edits again. Jupitus Smart 06:45, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Inappropriate Deletions from Nily Rozic

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia. Your deleting validated information about her 2016 election that was cited and referenced on NYS Board of Elections Sites and her own Ballotpedia site.[4] [5]

Cfuentespadilla1421 (talk) 06:38, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

I only removed information about what the loosing candidate did after the elections, which is not mentioned in any of the links that you have provided. Jupitus Smart 06:41, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Understood, this is a misunderstanding on my part. I saw the deletion of my information as ok since as your previously stated, the citations were not attached. But, the information was deleted on my side and I was too easy to assume it was you, partially since you were deleting all of the edits. I do apologize for the inconvenience made to you if any.Cfuentespadilla1421 (talk) 07:11, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Good. Anyway Nily Rozic has been semi-protected according to my request and your edits on Rory Lancman has been reverted as well. You seem to have stopped edit warring and adding unsourced material as well, so there remains nothing else to be done. Cheers Jupitus Smart 08:04, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi - regarding my article on Prof Dr Suresh David

Hi Jupitus Smart, It's nice to hear you noticed my draft. Naepin is a friend & a colleague. I do not understand why you need to ask about that! Anyways there are people here who have helped me without any questions, I had been associated with CMC, many years ago, for a very short while though. Seen and heard about the ED and EM developing under Dr Suresh David and he has contributed a lot to the field. If you read through development of EM in India you will notice, he had started it etc etc. It's all over. I really did not know wikipedia pages were created by people. I am an editor in few journals in my field. I wanted to create pages, edit etc. I didnt know what to create - I searched for my birthplace, schools i studied in, Colleges i did my studies, everything was there. Then I thought of creating something on a notable person. Tat's how i started this. Right decision or not i do not know. But only after i started i realised this was so much different etc. Many of them have been kind enough to help me though, I am glad. I really want to know how i can help with other pages and people too. I do not know if you will help me, but since you asked, I hope your questions are answered and I also hope I have not offended you. Thanks & Regards Yourgirl (talk) 20:56, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

@Yourgirl:When two new editors collaborate exclusively on a single article, it is cause enough for other editors to get suspicious. Anyway I wish you and Naepin all the best in getting Dr. Suresh David's article published and hope you continue editing other articles in Wikipedia. Your answers were not the most convincing (also because your story does not explain how you got the photograph) but I'll still give you some suggestions on improving the article :
  • The article is too long at 1407 words, for a not so notable person. I suggest removing the CV style data which mentions each and every achievement of Dr. Suresh David. Ideally (not necessarily) cut the article down to around 500 words. The article seems to have been copied from his resume though I cannot find the link. Anyway look at similar doctors in Category:20th-century Indian medical doctors and see how their articles were written.
  • Remove all the self published sources including LinkedIn and Slideshare references. Read WP:RS to know what references are considered as reliable sources. Also remove the circular references, like mentioning that he wrote some textbook and using the same textbook as the reference for that fact.
  • The initial paragraph is too long. Again look at how the other doctor Wikipedia pages have been written.

Jupitus Smart 03:48, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

  • Thank you so much, really appreciate it. Shall try again. Will let you know how it goes along. Thank you once again. Good luck to you too.

Yourgirl (talk) 11:16, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

  • Hi Thanks for the suggestions,Many people helped in creating the article, Good luck.

Lol

LOL and probably true. I thought as much myself, but I like to give people an opportunity to tell me a convoluted tale. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:39, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: Mammootty has been going through a lean patch over the last few years. None of his movies are minting any money, and even the much hyped Great Father failed miserably. Mohanlal who was also nearing his end days received an unexpected windfall over the last few months, meaning 4 of his recent movies are in the top 10. This is what irks Mammooty fans, and that is why they swarm to vandalise articles of Mohanlal's new movies, most of which are protected now. The Great Father which was one of Mammooty fans biggest hopes of a turnaround is therefore now being presented as a hit, so as to somehow bring Mammootty's career back on track. Jupitus Smart 06:53, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
Interesting take, thanks for the write-up. I'm a bit familiar with how irritable Mohanlal and Mammootty fans can get, but the details are good. There was an epic edit-war a few years back (here's one of the guys) where two users kept battling across articles trying to reposition their favorite actor to the front of the |starring= parameter and cast list. It was soooo absurd. And then long after it quelled, someone changed the name of a template from something like "Films starring Mohanlal and Mammootty" to "Films starring Mammootty and Mohanlal". Just makes you want to punch yourself in the face. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:10, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

and you really mean to say that

"potential links between supporters of President Trump and the Russian government" in Firing of FBI Director James Comey has nothing to do with Donald Trump–Russia dossier? Reverting the link and sending me thanks? Most fascinating and confusing. -- Kku (talk) 10:22, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Sorry about that @Kku:. I was reverting the other person's edits, but accidentally ended up reverting yours. Before I could change it back somebody else had done the needful. The thanks was intended as an apology. Jupitus Smart 10:25, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
No worries. I understand that the assembly line for this article is currently a little overcrowded with labor force. -- Kku (talk) 10:31, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja

Hi there, re: this, you should be aware that there was a good deal of debate about the gross of Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja at Talk:Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja (film). I don't have a specific position on it, but I think the dispute was a reason why the gross wasn't included in the film article. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:58, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: I may have jumped the gun on that. I did not check the talk page, and went with what the link said. Thanks for pointing that out. Jupitus Smart 17:03, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
I don't know whether or not your change was wrong, I just thought I'd point out that there was some dispute about it in the past. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:28, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Its good that you did. I'd rather let these things be decided by consensus. And I personally think that the 49 crore figure is exaggerated as well. That movie was mediocre at its best. Jupitus Smart 17:33, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Note

Ilikerabbits! is 123.231.107.255, I think. If so, has possibly reached enough unsourced POV-pushing warnings for AIV. I was considering reporting but activity seemed to cease at that point. But maybe it's not over, afterall... — PaleoNeonate — 12:23, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

Err, I meant ANI, not AIV, sorry. — PaleoNeonate — 12:25, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
What are you trying to say @PaleoNeonate:. The user has not edited since 10th May, so what use is taking him to AIV/ANI. Jupitus Smart 12:28, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
Oh I just meant that 123.231.107.255 stopped just at the right moment on the 10th before getting reported, but is likely to now be back as Ilikerabbits!. I only shared the information because you also recently reverted a relevant edit. Sorry for the confusion, — PaleoNeonate — 12:49, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
Okay, I know the frustration when IPs turn stale after reporting. I will take a look at Ilikerabbits! and see what I can do. Jupitus Smart 12:51, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
@PaleoNeonate: He seems to have gone quiet since the last 30 minutes. I will check on him later, to see if he is still adding POV edits. Jupitus Smart 12:55, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
Indeed. I will also check from time to time. Cheers, — PaleoNeonate — 13:01, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

Catch?

Hey there, re: this, what happened to the Catch estimate? Though it hasn't been discussed extensively, Catch was established by a notable journalist. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:06, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb:But there was a higher number mentioned, and it could have been collected after Catch's estimate. I am not refuting Catch's estimate, but movie grosses are not static, and the movie could have grossed the extra amount after Catch released their numbers. Jupitus Smart 04:09, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
There's always going to be a higher number in a range (for obvious reasons) and higher numbers don't always equate to higher accuracy, but more importantly, you're probably right in this instance, since the film was still in theatres and the Catch source says "The film is still running to packed houses in limited screens across the Kerala and has so far grossed Rs. 63 crore worldwide." So yes, I agree that the film presumably made money subsequent to that report. My apologies for the hassle, and I appreciate your reply. It helped me logic through this. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:28, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for that. Manorama's gross was more like an annual report mentioning performances of Mohanlal's movies. It was therefore expected to be more closer to the actual final figures, and that was another reason why I chose that. Jupitus Smart 04:34, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Sources Used In Highest Grossing Indian Films

Sir in the section of Malayalam movies the source used for Pulimurugan is Catch News. According to your view how is it is a reliable course. Also in the Movie Drishyam the source is used is DNA. Is these two sources are reliable?? Os inuth.com is reliable source??? Muhammed.suhail (talk) 16:43, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

inuth.com is not considered a reliable source. Catch News and DNA are considered as reliable, based on my understanding of the existing consensus. Jupitus Smart 18:19, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
Pulimurugan and Drishyam has many other sources supporting their claim. All the sources agree on the 150+ and 75 crore claims of both the movies. A simple search can confirm that. Jupitus Smart 18:56, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hello Jupitus Smart. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Swarm 03:24, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - Newsletter No.4

Hello Jupitus Smart,

Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 809 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!

But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Stay up to date with recent new page developments and have your say, read THIS PAGE.

DYK for Trashigang Dzong

On 24 May 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Trashigang Dzong, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the epicenter of the 2009 Bhutan earthquake was 10 miles (16 km) away from Trashigang Dzong, and caused wide cracks to appear in the 350-year-old structure? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Trashigang Dzong. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Trashigang Dzong), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Scherezade Shroff Talwar

Dear User:Jupitus Smart, I recently wrote an article on Wikipedia entitled Scherezade Shroff Talwar, but it seems to be lacking in more compelling details about this young lady's talents. If you have anything to add, please feel free to do so. I have turned to you since I have noticed that most of your articles concern India. All the best to you.Davidbena (talk) 19:50, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

@Davidbena: I edited the article a little bit, but in the process I realised that maybe you have a vested interest in the article. Many of the the things mentioned in the article are not mentioned in the inline citations that you have provided. I also checked your history, and find it suspicious that a person editing Jewish religious material all this while would one day jump into creating an unknown Indian Vlogger. If you can provide me the reasons for the same, I will help you out. And if not, I will remove all the fluff myself. Thanks. Jupitus Smart 03:50, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
Actually I have no vested interest in the article. I do not even know the individual personally, but have only seen her on YouTube videos. I live in Israel, and she lives with her husband in Mumbai. This, however, was my first article written about a living person. In fact, I watch many YouTube vlogs, and I felt that she was deserving of recognition because of her talents.Davidbena (talk) 04:04, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
@Davidbena: That still does not explain why you would add something not present in the inline citations to the article. The school and college she attended, her assignment with New Port, all of these are not mentioned in any of the references. Where did you get that from? Jupitus Smart 04:10, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
Everything that I added about the vlogger, with a cited reference, is indeed there to be seen in the reference. Where I declined to bring down a reference, I thought it was unimportant. Nevertheless, when I collected the information to write about her, the information about her schooling she explained in one of her videos. Other information was gleaned from other videos. If you'd like, I can send to you the link.Davidbena (talk) 04:17, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
You can see her school history here.Davidbena (talk) 04:20, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
You are probably experienced enough to know that we don't work that way. Anyway I will remove the unimportant things and try and edit the article based on the references provided. Even though I would like to assume WP:AGF all the time, I had a bad experience helping out in improving Namrata Purohit, whose creator turned out to be a sockpuppet and a paid editor. So I am cautious about such activities, though I will help you since your answers seem genuine. Cheers. Jupitus Smart 04:24, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
I can assure you that I am not being paid for my editing, neither am I a sock-puppet. I have turned unto you in complete honesty, because of the template that someone had placed above the article. I just don't have the time, nor the means to further research this woman's life experiences. Be well, and thanks.Davidbena (talk) 04:26, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Mt. Hood Independent Film Festival

Hello, Jupitus. I've reverted your re-listing of the AfD nomination of the above-named article. Nominations that have not received comments can be treated by administrators as uncontested proposed deletions. Your re-listing would have removed that option for the administrators, hence my reversion. NewYorkActuary (talk) 17:30, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

@NewYorkActuary: While I personally don't mind your reverting, I don't think administrators usually delete them like PRODs after the first week, especially when its such a large article with proper references. So the AfD is probably going to anyway end up getting relisted. But if you would rather wait to see if an administrator is brave enough, I don't mind. Cheers. Jupitus Smart 17:34, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

If i understood correctly you need me to find posters for these movies. Here are some links - ATM1 and ATM2, Mayavan1 and Mayavan2. Both seems okay, though I am no authority on posters, as I just learnt how to upload them without any issues. You would be better off if you looked at what is written below an already uploaded poster and write accordingly when uploading yourself. Jupitus Smart 03:11, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

June 2017

Hello Jupitus Smart. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that there is consensus that we shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and/or content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at Aayush sinkhwal. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course still be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. -KAP03(Talk • Contributions • Email) 13:07, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

@KAP03: You should probably think twice before templating users who are much more experienced than you. The consensus is towards hasty A1 and A3 nominations. It does not say anything about A7 nomination, which is what I nominated the article for, which I did after independently searching for the subject. The article has been deleted by an administrator who chose to ignore your message as well. An apology is probably due. Jupitus Smart 13:14, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
@Jupitus Smart: Sorry, I did not realize that {{hasty}} does not apply to speedy deletions under WP:A7. -KAP03(Talk • Contributions • Email) 13:17, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

@Yavarai:2 respected editors have PRODed it with valid concerns. You have added a pretty candid photograph suggesting possible WP:COI. There is not much I can do, other than watch as it gets deleted. At best you can remove the PROD tag after which it will be taken to AfD, probably by one of the nominators, where based on my experience I can assure that it will most probably be deleted. So, its basically useless to try. Jupitus Smart 19:14, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

List of highest grossing Indian films

Hi, like you reverted the disputed list of adjusted gross on the page, please revert the page ' List of highest grossing Indian films' back to this version till a consensus is achieved. The current 'Highest-grossing films by year' section on the page is using the same misleading numbers and disputed source, as the other section you removed. SoniaKovind (talk) 12:07, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

@SoniaKovind: I cannot revert that until a discussion on the same has been done. You should ideally begin discussing with the other user on the talk page as with the inflation adjusted numbers. If a consensus is not arrived, we may think about reverting. Personally I think these edits are not as misleading as the inflated adjusted numbers. While I accept that its not the best method to arrive at the numbers, the ideal solution will be to convince the other editor about the same. Regards. Jupitus Smart 12:17, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
We are actually discussing it already, the same discussion you joined earlier today. My point was that you only reverted a part of the disputed edits, the section I have mentioned is also the subject of the discussion as it uses the same misleading content and disputed, unreliable sources as the section you deleted earlier. Just as you mentioned that leaving misleading data on a high traffic page is not desirable. I request you to please remove it till the discussion is on. Thanks SoniaKovind (talk) 12:33, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
Discussing here won't achieve any purpose. Let us discuss this in the talk page of the article, where all concerned parties can be involved. Jupitus Smart 12:36, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

Mungarumale collected ₹75 crore

Hello, I'm Tevar shaa. I wanted to let you know that According to reports at that time, #Mungarumale was the first film to touch ₹50 crore and even within 300 days See this.[6]. And ran for 1 year continuously in PVR with packed houses. And went on to run over 865 days and raked over ₹75 crore in its life time in #Karnataka. [7] and [8].

Actually the Mungarumale collection is not announced by any primary sources like producer/actor/director/distributors, it is by critic, named C.H. Prahlada Rao, who told to "DNA"

Templating me won't help your cause nor will discussing it in my talk page. I am not the authority to decide on such things but will however re-iterate what I have mentioned before in the talk page of List of Highest Grossing Indian movies.
  • Indiaglitz is considered a non-reliable source according to WP:ICTFFAQ
  • New Indian Express does not say anything about 75 crores
  • The DNA source has been discussed extensively on the talk page of List of Highest Grossing Indian movies.
Most, if not all the sources agree on the 50 crore figure. The 75 crore figure can therefore be considered as an error on the part or the person who claimed it. And this source clearly says that Raajkumara had already become the highest grossing Kannada movie when its 100 day celebrations were held with the gross at 70 crores. That effectively rules out any possibility of Mungaru Male's 75 crore figure being accepted as true by anybody in the industry. Jupitus Smart 12:33, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Alex ShihTalk 11:48, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

Sergio Rubino

Dear Jupitus Smart,

thank you for writing:
"Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Sergio Rubino, from its old location at User:Sergio Rubino/sandbox. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. Jupitus Smart 20:02, 11 July 2017 (UTC)"
Hope you read the article. My question is: Is it possible to publish the article like it is now? Or do we have to add more information? If yes, which? This page already exists in German and Italian language.
Thank you so much in advance for your help.
With best regards,
Silke Weigand (Sergio Rubinos partner)--Sergio Rubino (talk) 10:17, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
Wikipedia is not very keen about people associated with article subjects writing the articles. Since you are his partner, @Sergio Rubino:, I suggest you read WP:COI. As for the article, it has a lot of problems, which will probably mean the article will not pass. For one, most of the things mentioned in the article don't have references. If the article exists in German/Italian Wikipedias, you may use the references used there and any other reference from reliable sources, as we don't require references to be in English. Also the article reads like a resume. You should ideally cut down on the excessive details like, the list of all his exhibitions and publications etc. Here are some decently written articles for you to model yours on - Don Reitz or Aristide Maillol or even Amedeo Modigliani. If you look at them, none of them lists art exhibitions or publications or other such non-substantial data. Best of luck.Jupitus Smart 10:32, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

The fact was ... that MINURCA was established by the UN Security Council to replace another peacekeeping force called MISAB? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Jupitus Smart, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

Technology update:

  • Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
  • The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:

Request on 18:23:43, 17 July 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by Echoasis

Hello Jupitus Smart,

You recently declined an article, 'Soothe', I edited. The reason provided was that this draft looked like an advertisement. However, I believe the content was truthful and objective given that Soothe is a company which provides personal services, so the draft was purely stating the service itself instead of promoting anything. And the references were also from varied valid sources instead of first-hand press release or promotional articles. I would really appreciate it if you could provide more inputs regarding how I could improve this draft and to be accepted. I really hope this article could be published so my efforts were not for nothing.

Thank you very much. Sincerely, Echoasis

Echoasis (talk) 18:23, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

You are free to believe differently, @Echoasis:. However when 3 editors - me, SwisterTwister and admin RHaworth who deleted the earlier draft feel that it is an advertorial article per Wikipedia's standards, than probably it is. As for improving this article, I think that this is a huge mess that can hardly be improved. It would be better for you to blank the page, and start over, modelling the article on similar companies, who already have Wiki pages. Some of the things that you will not usually find on Wiki pages include - locations served or some of the information you have included in sections like Service or Soothe at Work. These information are better off in the company website and not in an encyclopedia, and therefore are essentially considered as advertorial content by us. Hope you have understood the gist of our policies. Best. Jupitus Smart 03:41, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
