possible conflict of interest edit

Hi, Thanks for your edits to Shepton Mallet and Tithe Barn, Pilton. I noticed you wrote about work by "Jon Maine" which is very close to your username. If this is you be careful about Conflict of Interest.— Rod talk 13:44, 14 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jon, My understanding of the conflict of interest rules are that they don't stop you writing about things you are involved in - but they shouldn't be promotional & that you should post something on your user page & talk page saying that you recognise there might be a conflict & "declaring your interest". My suspicion is that you have knowledge and expertise which would be of value to wikipedia, but you need to be extremely careful to comply with the Neutral point of view rules.
Learning the syntax etc of wikipedia can take a while so I will have a look at the Shepton Mallet landmarks section & try to tidy it up. I'll have a look at www.merchants-house.co.uk & see whether I feel it is purely commercial/advertising or does actually add useful information for readers. If the work has been nominated for prizes there are likely to be other mentions in reliable sources. If you need any help with editing just let me know & you might want to join WikiProject Somerset.— Rod talk 14:25, 14 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Looking at a couple of sources I think Merchants House is worthy of it's own article - give me a few hours.— Rod talk 14:48, 14 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Take a look at Merchant's House, Shepton Mallet - there's lots more could be added to the history, but I don't think the focus should on the restoration. Do you have a picture you own & are happy to upload under public domain or creative commons licence?— Rod talk 17:40, 14 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wood Awards edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Wood Awards, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.woodawards.com/about-us. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 13:40, 12 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Wood Awards edit

A tag has been placed on Wood Awards requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. t'shaélchat 13:41, 12 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi. With respect to your note in edit summary, I just wanted to let you know that copyright is not affected by the subject of the text. Text on an award is fully protected under US law, which governs Wikipedia. I have further revised the article to differentiate it from the source. I have also added tags concerning other matters that need attention. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:20, 24 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

A note edit

Just for the record, you are not supposed to remove speedy deletion notices from pages which you create. It says so on the template. Thanks. t'shaélchat 14:07, 12 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
